Cough syrup deaths: TNFDA probe reveals Coldrif manufacturer's shortcomings

According to CDSCO sources, the investigation into the Kanchipuram-based Coldrif cough syrup producer, which was connected to child fatalities in Madhya Pradesh, has shown shortcomings in the Tamil Nadu Food and Drug Administration's enforcement of fundamental regulatory standards. They said that Sresan Pharma, which was granted a license by the Tamil Nadu Food and Drug Administration (TNFDA) in 2011, carried on operating undetected for more than ten years in spite of its inadequate infrastructure and many infractions of national drug safety regulations.According to the sources, a recent examination by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) revealed the unit's terrible conditions and complete disregard for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). "The CDSCO has not participated in any of Sresan Pharma's audits. This company was not included in any of the CDSCO databases since the CDSCO was not involved and the state FDA did not provide the CDSCO with any information on it, according to a source.Rule 84AB of the D and C Rules mandates that manufacturers update all of their certified items on the "Sugam" site, according to another source at the CDSCO.In order to facilitate improved monitoring, the regulation was notified to create a national database of all the authorized items in the nation. "The business failed to list its goods in the database. It did not follow this guideline as a result. According to the source, the state regulator is in charge of ensuring that the regulation is followed in the state.

Why the most popular (and dubious) fad right now is North West's finger piercing

The Kardashian-Jenner family is known for starting trends, some of which are lighthearted, some of which are outrageous, and others of which are downright dubious. When Kim Kardashian and her 12-year-old daughter North West were spotted in Rome recently, everyone's attention was drawn to North's middle finger dermal piercing.Their excursion has generated a lot of controversy, with Kim facing backlash for permitting her preteen child receive the piercing. However, finger piercings have also gained popularity, and many people are now interested in learning more about them, their process, and their safety.A dermal piercing, also known as a micro dermal or single-point piercing, is a way to change your body where a piece of jewelry is inserted under the skin so that only the pretty top is visible, says Sahil Bali, an artist at Devil'z Tattooz in Delhi. Bali continues by explaining that dermal piercings are single-entry piercings, as opposed to conventional piercings, which enter one side of the skin and exit the other. "They are performed by using a needle or dermal punch to make a tiny pocket in the skin, after which an anchor base is inserted beneath the skin. After that, a decorative stud or gem is put onto the anchor," he explains, adding that these piercings may be done practically anywhere on the body, including the fingers, lower back, cheekbone, and chest, but they take longer to heal than conventional piercings."Dermal piercings need careful cleaning and protection, as they can get easily irritated or caught on things, making them slightly higher maintenance than normal piercings," says Dr. Shireen Furtado, senior consultant, medical and cosmetic dermatology, Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru.

Can your hair texture change after postpartum?

Can your hair texture change after postpartum?

Becoming a parent is among the most surreal experiences one can have. It seems as though your heart is bursting with love, but simultaneously, your body can feel more delicate and fatigued than it ever has after the ordeal of giving birth, even though you are amazed by the miracle it has just performed. With hormones fluctuating wildly and energy levels oscillating, you may discover that you are adapting to a new version of yourself on physical, mental, and emotional levels. In the midst of all these changes, your hair starts to narrate its own tale as well. Due to hormonal changes, many women notice significant hair loss in the months following childbirth. However, it often surprises people to learn that not only does the amount of hair change, but sometimes the texture does as well.Your hair may grow straighter if you have curls, or develop waves if it’s straight, and the texture of your locks can change in surprising ways, serving as a reminder that motherhood transforms more than just your routine—it transforms you. Many individuals observe that their hair becomes thicker, shinier, and fuller during pregnancy, resembling a natural glow-up. Dr. Ruben Bhasin Passi, a dermatology consultant at CK Birla Hospital in Gurugram, explains to India Today that this occurs because elevated estrogen levels prolong the hair growth phase, which stops normal shedding. This provides that additional volume and vitality. However, after the baby comes and hormone levels decrease, the narrative shifts. “When there’s a sudden decrease in hormone levels, the body adapts and hair experiences significant changes, which often surprises new mothers,” she adds. The doctor further explains that hair naturally cycles through phases of growth (anagen), rest (catagen), and shedding (telogen). During pregnancy, increased levels of estrogen keep more hair in the growth phase. After childbirth, when estrogen levels decrease, a number of these hairs enter the shedding phase simultaneously.

The Reason for the Split The ultimate 'I'm done' move is Bob.

The Reason for the Split The ultimate 'I'm done' move is Bob.

My heart was broken by him. So I cut my hair. Even though the numbers don't stack up, it feels like a fair exchange to women. According to the well-known quote by Coco Chanel, "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life." A fresh appearance turns into your armor; you feel prepared to confront, if not combat, the outside world and put an end to those existentially troubling ideas. After a few uncomfortable months in Paris, away from her family, her first (and only) love, Conrad, and her brother Jeremiah, with whom she almost got married, Belly did the same. In case you missed it (and have been living in a no-Internet zone these past several weeks), that was a reference to The Summer I Turned Pretty.By the way, in the first episode of Season 3, Belly’s then-fiance told her, ‘Hey, don’t ever cut your hair, okay?’ Yet here she was, sporting a French bob - ready to leave behind the wedding mess and finally embrace the new city, and her new self. Adding to the confident new look was a bold red lipstick - another first she chose to debut. “I think women often cut their hair after a breakup or when they want to let go of old baggage and signal to people that they’re ready for change,” Jenny Han, the show’s executive producer and author of the novels that the series is based on, told Vogue."The idea is that you can feel different if you look different," she continued. A hair makeover—more specifically, a haircut—has long been used as a coping strategy. But Belly is going straight for a bob instead of the traditional breakup bangs? That's a powerful move, and it serves as a reminder to the next generation of the strength of a breakup bob.In 2018, following her split from Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez got a bob. After her breakup with Joe Jonas, Gigi Hadid also stunned the red carpet with a bob, but it turned out to be a phony one (the bob, not the breakup). Additionally, we see Claire in the web comedy Fleabag go for the perfect combination: a haircut with bangs. It shouts, "I'm ready, come what may!" when done correctly, but Claire's, well, went terribly wrong.

Shah Rukh Khan's heat stroke How can people over 50 stay hydrated?

Shah Rukh Khan's heat stroke How can people over 50 stay hydrated?

Your body doesn't require as much water as it did when you were younger. According to Dr. M. Wali, Senior Consultant, Department of Internal Medicine, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, you could not feel sufficiently thirsty. Doctors warn that extended heat exposure can have negative effects on your body, regardless of your level of fitness. According to Dr. M. Wali, Senior Consultant, Department of Internal Medicine, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, "if you are over 50 and have co-morbidities like hypertension and diabetes, dehydration and extreme heat can affect you adversely."DURING A HEAT STROKE, WHAT TAKES PLACE? The heat exposure and excessive perspiration cause the body to lose fluids, raising the core body temperature. The sympathetic nervous system is triggered, putting the body in a fight-or-flight state and causing the production of stress hormones when it senses a crisis. Less water causes the blood to thicken, the blood volume to decrease, and the heart and blood vessels to work harder to pump more blood to the peripheries so that the skin can radiate heat more quickly. The body loses its ability to regulate its temperature during a heat stroke, evaporation and perspiration stop working, and the body cannot cool down. The body temperature increases when heat stroke happens. WHAT ARE THE DEHYDRATION SIGNIFICANTS? WHY AS YOU GROW OLD YOU MAY NOT FEEL IT? Pay attention to any decrease in urine flow, advises Dr. Wali. Additionally, urine might have a dark color. According to Dr. Wali, symptoms could include low blood pressure, a fast heartbeat, dry mouth, headache, fever, and dyspnea. Your body doesn't require as much water as it did when you were younger. Thus, even though your body may still require water to function, you could not feel sufficiently thirsty. You run the risk of becoming dehydrated if you don't drink enough water, he continues.WAYS TO AVOID DEHYDRATION? HOW MUCH H2O IS SUFFICIENT TO DRINK? To avoid dehydration on a hot day, people should consume four to six liters of water at the very least. Continue drinking water, fruit-infused water, or bael juice (which is the greatest at reducing heat) every hour. Even if you don't feel thirsty, you should still consume electrolyte-rich liquids to replace the salts your body loses via perspiration. Being stuck in traffic is something you cannot avoid, so always have a bottle with you. Keep in mind that cold beer dehydrates and alters the nervous system. Limit alcohol and tobacco use, advises Dr. Wali.

In its new instructions, ICMR advises consumers to choose whole spices instead of powdered ones, which are more likely to be contaminated. Everything you're interested in knowing. The Indian Council of Medical Research, or ICMR, has released new guidelines that advise consumers to stick to whole spices instead of powdered ones, which are more likely to be contaminated and therefore unhealthy. The ICMR provides advice on choosing healthy meals and ensuring they are free from infestation, mold, foreign matter, and artificial coloring in Guidelines 12-Consume safe and clean foods.Spices are a rich source of antioxidants and provide food flavor. They aid in the treatment of numerous illnesses. For food preparation, the ICMR suggests using caution while purchasing spices. People are advised by the medical research body to choose whole spices over powdered ones because the latter may contain adulterants."Whole spices that are consistent in color, size, and shape should be chosen over powdered spices because the latter are more prone to be tampered with. Purchase only certified goods, advises ICMR. Concerns about pesticides have recently drawn attention to MDH and Everest spice mixes. To assist Indians in making better food choices, the ICMR and the National Institute of Nutrition published 17 new dietary guidelines for Indians of all ages. How the ICMR recommends choosing safe food Food safety may be jeopardized by adulteration, chemical contamination, and microbiological contamination. Food's natural enzymes cause it to deteriorate over time as well. In addition, food is dangerous when it contains natural poisons, adulterants, insects, rodents, and different chemical residues that are present in excess of what is allowed. Furthermore, the recommendations state that the moisture content of the food as well as certain environmental factors like temperature, humidity, and storage duration affect the meal's quality.

From bird poop facials to fire facials, these strange Chinese beauty customs will astound you.

From bird poop facials to fire facials, these strange Chinese beauty customs will astound you.

I'll pretty much do anything to achieve attractiveness. I had to give bird poop facials a try as soon as I learned about their existence. You all already are aware of this. I'll give anything a shot. I've previously paid for a snooze as well as having my entire body washed. Oh no. Trying out all these opulent treatments is rather draining. However, someone has to do it! :)The Geisha Facial is the official term for the procedure, which is presently exclusively offered at the Shizuka New York Day Spa in NYC. I made an appointment as soon as I read about it. I was prepared to have Japanese nightingale droppings all over my face.I changed into my skivvies at the spa and wore soft slippers and a robe fit for a geisha. It was a component of the whole encounter.I was shown to a room and made up on an incredibly cozy bed. "IS THIS THE BIRD POOP?!" I exclaimed as soon as celebrity facialist Shizuka Bernstein began her session. I felt a little enthusiastic. She promised to alert me as soon as she started smearing the excrement all over my face. Shizuka informed me that although the bird feces is one of the steps in the treatment, it's not the primary component. I see, crap. I was prepared to have bird droppings all over my face for sixty minutes. That being said, the third phase in the treatment is the bird feces. Your face is first cleaned, then a clay mask is put, and last...To cover up the unpleasant smell, Shizuka first blends the bird droppings with rice bran. She then uses a brush to apply the mixture to your face, exfoliating it with a scrape. The recipe doesn't smell horrible, but it feels a touch gloopy. It had an oatmeal-like scent to it.The bird excrement is packaged as a powder. It turns out that nightingale droppings are produced in Japan, where they undergo a UV sanitization process before being ground into a powder. I picture a whole warehouse full of birds peeing into trays, and someone's duty is to go scrape it and then hand it off to be cleaned.Shizuka responds, "The bird poop actually has a natural enzyme that will cleanse the skin," when asked why she uses bird dung. It also contains guanine, which is a common ingredient in shine-producing cosmetics." A few more processes, including extraction, come after the facial portion involving the bird feces. My face felt as smooth as a baby's butt after she was finished. I believe I would repeat it.

Including a scoop of collagen every day in your routine to achieve flawless fitness and beauty? This is what to search for:

Supplementing on collagen every day can improve your appearance and level of fitness. Here are some things to consider when selecting the ideal choice:Even though collagen supplements have become more and more popular in the cosmetics and wellness industries in recent years, a sizable portion of the population is still unaware of the benefits of collagen and how it can improve one's general health. For those who don't know, collagen is the most prevalent protein in mammals, making up 30% of all the protein in our bodies and 70–80% of the protein in our skin.One-third of the proteins in the human body are made up of the stiff, fibrous protein collagen, which is primarily composed of molecules arranged in long, thin fibrils that support one another and keep our skin, joints, and connective tissues robust, elastic, and healthy. Nevertheless, our body begins to lose 1% of its collagen annually in the mid-to-late 20s and early 30s when collagen production begins to decline.A low amount of collagen in the body can cause a number of problems, including weakening blood vessels, bone and muscle weakness, and joint pain and stiffness. Dr. Shareefa Chause, a dermatologist and cosmetologist at Shareefa's Skin Care Clinic, stated in an interview with HT Lifestyle that "most importantly, insufficient collagen levels can also result in skin issues like wrinkles, sagging, dryness, and poor wound healing."The dilemma is how to choose the best collagen supplement, as collagen is crucial for general health. Experts concur that with so many options available, selecting the best collagen supplement can be overwhelming. While type 1, 2, and 3 collagen supplements are commonly mentioned, there is no proof that these types of supplements benefit different body parts; instead, this is merely a marketing gimmick. The source of collagen must be identified, as marine collagen has the highest bioavailability and guarantees 1.5 times better absorption than collagen from other sources. Experts concur that bovine collagen might be less expensive, but they also advise you to take your dietary choices and any potential sensitivities into account before choosing a collagen source.Meanwhile, because collagen supplements are invariably sourced from animal sources, vegetarians have always been at a disadvantage when it comes to collagen intake. "That is not true anymore," says Bhavesh Sheth, founder of INJA Wellness, because pure-veg collagen is now sold in India in flavors like green apple, blackcurrant, and natural. It is also gluten-free and keto-friendly collagen that is designed for fitness, wellness, and beauty.Certain types of collagen promote healthy skin, hair, and nails; others guarantee youth and inner peace; still others are intended for joint health and muscle repair. Because they are simple to use, readily absorbed by the body, and have a quicker potency than other types, experts recommend collagen supplements in powder form.Additionally, they advise that it is critical to select collagen supplements that have been approved by experts and that ensure the highest standards of quality and the greatest possible outcomes. So, in order to get that glowing beauty and fitness, are you using a scoop of collagen in your daily routine?

Serum Institute gains 20% in a non-needle tech startup WholeMedical

For an unknown sum, vaccine leader Serum Institute of India has purchased a 20% investment in medical device startup IntegriMedical to promote needle-free injection technology.According to a business statement, the technology helps patients who are afraid of needles by promoting patient compliance, decreasing needle-stick injuries, and improving the effectiveness of liquid medication through needle-free dispersion. After purchasing SCHOTT Kaisha's Indian partner in August 2021, Serum Institute of India (SII), which has been investing in backend businesses, was able to secure the company's supply of pharmaceutical packaging items, which include vials, syringes, ampoules, and cartridges required to package life-saving medication.According to the note, IntegriMedical has created the US-patented needle-free injection system (N-FIS), which uses a high-velocity jet stream and mechanical power to deliver medications and biologics reliably and efficiently. Without providing a timeframe, it was stated that N-FIS will be made available in the Indian private market, providing patients and healthcare professionals with an alternative to conventional needle-based injections. The Chief Executive of SII, Adar Poonawalla, stated that the organization was always looking for ways to invest in technologies that complemented its goals. This summer, Indians labor from hills and check into pool villas; in May, the flight hunt reaches a record high.

This year's summer is hotter than usual, therefore Indians are traveling at an unprecedented rate. Before booking a hotel, they are hurrying to learn about special features that will help them avoid the heat.Although there has been some rain in certain areas of the nation, heat waves are sweeping across vast tracts of territory, causing flight searches to reach all-time highs thus far in May. "Searches for domestic flight travel are up 20 percent and searches for international flight travel are up 70 percent over the previous year," stated Aloke Bajpai, group chief executive, chairman, and managing director of online travel aggregator Ixigo (OTA).Manoj Sihag, director of Echor Hotels & Resorts, noted that among the most sought-after features are homes with climate control systems, swimming pools or recreational access to neighboring bodies of water, and shaded outdoor spaces like gardens or terraces where visitors can unwind in cooler surroundings.Devendra Parulekar, the founder of SaffronStays, a luxury villa and vacation home rental firm, stated that pool villas are in great demand.Strong demand is driving increasing occupancy rates at 3- and 4-star hotels in hill areas, according to Sandeep Arora, director of Brightsun Travel. "We're witnessing a 10-20 percent rise in short-haul destinations compared to last year, with an estimated increase of 30-40 percent during weekends."According to Bharatt Malik, senior vice-president for Yatra Online's air and hotel companies, there is an increased demand for 4-star hotels, resorts, and villas. In the midst of the summer heat, travelers are putting comfort and high-quality experiences first. We have seen a 15–25% increase in 4-star hotels, resorts, villas, and retreats near major towns like Corbett, Jaipur, Coorg, and Pondicherry compared to the previous year."Many Indian professionals combine work and play by taking staycations in hill stations, which results in a spike in inquiries and bookings for lodging for hotel chains such as Ayatana Hospitality. "These locations offer modern amenities and high-speed internet connectivity, making them perfect for working remotely," stated Vishal Tony, Ayatana Hospitality's founder and managing director. The chief technology officer of SaffronStays recently managed his work while staying at one of their hotels in Mussoorie for ten days. Although the majority of offices are now fully operational, Malik from Yatra highlighted that other businesses are still operating remotely or in a hybrid mode, with the tendency of working from home seeing a spike during the summer's long weekends.

White bread with flavored beverages Nine items that hasten aging and make you appear older than you actually are

Your fondness of indulging in junk food binges and frequent nibbling may be hastening the aging process and making you appear older than you actually are. Your biological age and nutrition are closely linked, therefore consuming a lot of empty calories without getting enough nourishment might cause accelerated aging. On the other side, eating a balanced diet rich in fiber, complex carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals will help you feel and look younger. A sedentary lifestyle, high levels of stress, poor sleep hygiene, and poor eating habits can all have a negative impact on your health and increase your risk of developing age-related illnesses. (Also read: 7 incorrect food combos that Ayurveda advises you to avoid, from date and milk to palak paneer)A healthy lifestyle can both slow down biological aging and enhance your quality of life. Unhealthy lifestyle choices can accelerate the process of biological aging. But ageing can be reversed by adopting specific lifestyle changes, such as getting up earlier and developing better sleep habits, finding stress-reduction techniques like yoga, meditation, or engaging in a favorite activity, abstaining from alcohol and tobacco, exercising frequently, and maintaining a diet high in nutrients.INGREDIENTS THAT SPEED UP AGEING It is a well-established fact that eating certain foods can hasten the aging process. Here's the lowdown on nine culprits—from fine lines and wrinkles to sagging skin—that you might want to reconsider overindulging in too frequently. Moderation is crucial, as nutritionist Minacshi Pettukola writes in a new Instagram post. "Too frequently, keywords are the key. 1. White Bread: White bread, which is made from refined grains, has a high glycemic index and can cause blood sugar spikes that can accelerate aging and cause glycation. 2. Alcohol: Drinking too much alcohol can cause the skin to become dehydrated, rob it of essential nutrients, and cause wrinkles and fine lines to appear earlier than they should. 3. Trans fats: Fried meals, or trans fats, can aggravate oxidative stress and inflammation, which can hasten the aging of the skin and body. 4. Margarine: Skin may become more susceptible to UV rays because of the high concentration of partially hydrogenated oils in it. They may also damage your skin's moisture barriers. 5. Pastries: Although they might be tasty, pastries are frequently loaded with unhealthy fats and refined sugars, which can encourage glycation, a process that weakens collagen and elastin and causes drooping.
