Will Use Arrow To Hunt Lion: Bilawal Bhutto Warns Nawaz Sharif Before Pakistani Elections
As he vowed to hunt the "Lion" with "Arrow," Pakistan Peoples Party chief Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari poked fun at the leaders of the Nawaz Sharif-led PML-N party for not trying to win the polls on February 8 because they believed the result was "fixed" in their favor. Speaking at a rally in Multan, the 35-year-old former foreign minister—the scion of a family that produced two prime ministers for the country—said that voting for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was the only way to stop Sharif and his allies from plundering the nation.According to Bhutto-Zardari, leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) did not leave their homes and anticipated winning the election without making an attempt to engage with voters, believing they had "fixed the match," but this is untrue. She went on to say that the PPP and its allies would work together to hunt the "Lion" with the "Arrow." The PML-N's poll symbol is the lion, while the PPP's is the arrow. Separately, Bilawal invited Sharif to a candid discussion about the issues confronting the nation in a post on X."[International norms dictate that] the PML-N candidate (Nawaz Sharif) should come forward and engage in a debate with me as a PPP candidate running for the PM post [in the upcoming general elections]," he said on the official X account. Bilawal was announced as the party's nominee for prime minister in the upcoming general elections earlier this month. "I extend an invitation to Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N candidate, to participate in a debate with me on any day before February 8," stated Bilawal. He claimed that in every country, candidates for president and prime minister take part in televised debates, giving the public vital information about their platforms. "Transparency is essential for a knowledgeable electorate prior to the election," he continued. At the Multan rally, Bilawal vowed to bring the nation together and address public issues, such as the security and economic conditions, while criticizing traditional political leaders for fomenting division and hatred for their own personal gain. He attacked rival political parties for their disregard for the issues facing the nation and their narrow concentration on acquiring power. In an apparent jab at Sharif, Bilawal stated, "Politicians who have held the Prime Minister's Office thrice are angling for the chair for a fourth time." According to Bilawal, the former three-time prime minister was uninterested in addressing the urgent problems that the populace was facing. He chastised the PML-N for failing to even release its manifesto. In addition, he said that the PML-N leaders were attempting to mimic the PPP's platform.

Pak Poll Body Rejects Resolution Seeking Delay In February 8 Elections
The Senate earlier this month passed a resolution asking for a postponement of the general election scheduled for February 8. However, Pakistan's election commission rejected the resolution on Monday, claiming that all preparations have already been made and that it would not be "advisable" to postpone the polls. The nation's political unpredictability increased on January 5 when the upper House of Parliament passed a non-binding resolution asking for a postponement of the general election due to the cold and security concerns. Major political parties denounced the resolution as "unconstitutional" despite the fact that independent Senator Dilawar Khan's proposal had overwhelmingly positive support in the Senate. Just 14 of the Senate's 100 members were present when it was passed. In the statement on Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that it deliberated on the resolution and observed that caretaker federal and provincial governments had been issued directions for increased "security matrix" and providing a "congenial environment to the electorate" for peaceful elections. According to the Dawn newspaper, the top electoral body declared that it had completed all the preparations required to conduct general elections and that it had also promised the Supreme Court that elections would take place on February 8, 2024. "Likewise, It would not be out of place to mention here that in the past, general elections and local government elections have been held in (the) winter season," it continued.

Despite losing the Bat
Islamabad: Barrister Gohar Khan, the leader of the beleaguered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, declared on Monday that his party would not abstain from the February 8 election, even though they were compelled to run without their cricket bat poll symbol. Mr. Gohar made his remarks a few days after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party was forced to field its candidates as independents for the elections after losing its famous cricket bat, which served as its electoral symbol. "With God willing, we will participate fully in the elections," Mr. Gohar declared. He also mentioned that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party would release a list of its endorsed candidates along with their corresponding electoral symbols in three days.In a decision released late on Saturday, a three-judge Supreme Court panel maintained the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) ruling from December 22, which had deemed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's intra-party polls "unconstitutional" and removed the party's poll symbol. Speaking to the media outside the Adiala Jail, he claimed that the ruling of the top court was a "conspiracy against democracy" and that it had an impact on Pakistanis' fundamental rights. Additionally, he announced that the party would file a review petition against the ruling, pointing out that since the case involved Article 17 of the Constitution, a five-member bench of the top court should have heard the case.

Pakistani government drags on, Imran Khans party names its PM candidate
Imran Khan's jailed leader has nominated Omar Ayub Khan as a candidate in a parliamentary vote to choose a new prime minister after last week's national elections, according to a senior aide to the former prime minister of Pakistan. Although no candidate emerged with a clear majority from the polls, Khan's independent candidates secured 92 of the 264 seats, making them the largest group. As a result of Khan ruling out coalitions with the three biggest parties, his candidate does not currently have enough support to form a government. After meeting with the former prime minister in jail, Asad Qaiser, a senior leader of Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) party, informed reporters, "Omar Ayub will be our candidate for the prime minister election; he has been nominated by Imran Khan. Qaiser stated that PTI would talk to other parties about endorsing Ayub's candidacy. A coalition to establish a minority government has already been announced by Khan's opponents. Because they were technically prohibited by the election commission from participating in the polls under the electoral symbol of Khan's party, Khan's supporters filed as independents.Millions of Khan's fans turned out to vote for him in spite of the ban and his incarceration for convictions stemming from charges of corruption to state secrets leakage. Khan is prohibited from serving in any government while he is incarcerated. Ayub is presently in hiding and is wanted by law enforcement for a number of reasons, including possible involvement in the rioting that followed Imran Khan's arrest. Despite not participating in the campaign, he ran for office and was elected. He had previously belonged to both the ruling party of Gen. Pervez Musharraf, the former head of the military, and the party of Khan's principal opponent, Nawaz Sharif. The first military dictator of Pakistan, Ayub Khan, is the grandson of Ayub.

Pakistani Caretaker PMs View On Candidates Supported by Imran Khan
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, Pakistan's acting prime minister, stated on Monday that the only reason independents, who were supported by imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan, became the single largest party in the general elections was because his administration gave "a level playing field" to all political parties. Prior to Thursday's election, Mr. Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party had made repeated claims that the ruling elite and the interim administration were not treating all political parties equally and that certain parties and their leaders were receiving special treatment. The results of the National Assembly showed that the PTI-backed independents won 101 seats, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), led by another former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, won 75 seats, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), led by former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, won 54 seats, and the MQM-P, in addition to others, won eight seats. The state-run news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) cited Mr. Kakar as saying, "A large number of independent candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf emerged as the largest single group on the national and provincial assemblies."Mr. Kakar emphasized that social media was the source of claims of electoral tampering, which were false and at odds with the actual situation. He also stated that "people had always questioned the electoral process throughout the country's democratic history." He emphasised, "Such results indicated the transparency and non-interference by any quarters," during a press conference at PM House. While acknowledging the possibility of flaws or other minor issues, Mr. Kakar said that "in general, the elections were conducted in a way that the entire nation and the law enforcement agencies deserved commendation despite various security challenges." asserting that the PTI achieved outcomes "the party never dreamt of during 2018," he stated, "The loyalists of jailed PTI leaders emerged as returned candidates in the general elections, but no one is appreciating that aspect of the neutrality of the caretaker government." Mr. Kakar asserted in response to a question that more than 60 million people exercised their constitutional right to choose their preferred candidates in "a pressure-free environment." "The elections in Pakistan were held in a free and fair manner and there was no institutional mechanism to favour any group," Mr. Kakar stated.

The PIA privatization process might soon be resurrected with the IMF's approval. In order to persuade the IMF to permit the tax exemption and the addition of additional liabilities in a holding company, the Finance Ministry and the Privatization Commission engaged in talks with the organization. The government split the business into two firms earlier this year and transferred Rs623 billion in liabilities from the primary PIA to a holding company. The PIA bidders requested last month that the government remove the 18% sales tax on new or leased aircraft and write off an additional Rs45 billion in liabilities, according to Privatization Secretary Usman Bajwa. The Federal Board of Revenue was responsible for around Rs26 billion in liabilities, the Civil Aviation Authority provided bridge financing of Rs10 billion, and other liabilities amounted to Rs9 billion.
Bank on Shaheen Afridi at a location with a lot of points
Nov. 1, New Delhi, India (ANI): As he leads the attack for the Men in Green in the ongoing World Cup, Pakistan's standout pacer Shaheen Afridi demonstrated his domination in the ODIs by rising to the top of the 50-over format bowling rankings. With his three-wicket performance against Bangladesh, Afridi lived up to the high expectations placed on him by Pakistan prior to the ODI World Cup. He and Australian spinner Adam Zampa have taken 16 wickets apiece, sharing the lead in the tournament's wicket-taking total. He also jumped to the top of the ICC ODI bowler rankings thanks to it.His three-wicket haul was essential to Pakistan's victory over Bangladesh on Tuesday in Kolkata, maintaining his team's hopes of making it to the semi-finals.Josh Hazlewood of Australia, Mohammed Siraj of India, and Keshav Maharaj of South Africa, on the other hand, all dropped a spot in the rankings. Kuldeep Yadav, ranked seventh, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, ranked eighth, both improved their position within the top 10 by two spots.Pakistan captain Babar Azam's advantage in the ODI batting rankings has been further eroded, as he now leads by just two rating points. His collapse was partly caused by his nine runs against Bangladesh. Shubman Gill, his closest rival, has only managed 104 runs from four innings in the World Cup, so he hasn't been able to take use of the occasion.
