A nursing room will soon be built at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

NEW DELHI: To facilitate women visitors coming with their infants, the Archaeological Survey of India will provide an air-conditioned breastfeeding cum child care room at Jantar Mantar (instruments for measuring the harmony of the heavens). It will start functioning within two and a half months, said officials.6 hours agoMoreover, a publication counter and an exhibition space will open at the same time. Childcare services can be found at a number of Delhi sites, such as the Red Fort, Purana Qila, and Humayun's Tomb.Superintendent archaeologist Praveen Singh (Delhi circle) confirmed this, estimating that the facility would probably be operational by July.Officials said that the daycare center's rooms are around 10 by 8 feet and can hold two to three women at a time. "Water, a changing table, and a single bed will be provided," an ASI representative stated. Additionally, a staff member will be on hand to ensure the privacy of nursing moms and assist them in visiting the monument.According to officials, this installation was supposed to have begun sooner but was postponed because of the National Green Tribunal's construction activity restriction. Now that the employed people have gone back to their own countries, work has resumed.Beside the nursing area, there will also be a functioning publication counter with books about the monument for sale. Books can be bought here by those who are interested in history and would like to know more about the nation's landmarks. There might possibly be a souvenir store established, but that choice hasn't been finalized yet. The exhibition hall, which is 30 by 9 feet, will have all of the instrument names and characteristics. There will be staff on hand to help travelers who become lost.Sawai Jai Singh II constructed five observatories; the other four are in Jaipur, Varanasi, Ujjain, and Mathura. The Jantar Mantar in Delhi is one of them. All of them were constructed between 1724 and 1730 AD, when Aurangzeb's death had caused the Mughal Empire to fall. Astronomical observations were routinely conducted at the Delhi Observatory when it was finished in 1724 AD. A fresh collection of tables was created using these observations. With "yantra" denoting the instruments and "mantra" denoting the formula, Jai Singh named his observatory Jantar Mantar.

According to a senior police officer, the staff members were questioned about a number of topics, including their shift timings, qualifications, including verification of degrees and university validation, and where they were when the incident occurred.According to authorities, a 50-day-old baby who had been saved from the fire at the Baby Care New Born Hospital in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi, died early on Friday morning from her wounds. The toddler did not get any burn injuries, per the police. She was one of the five kids that were saved when the fire started last Saturday night. There were six more dead.A major fire broke out on May 26, around 10.55 p.m., due to a probable short circuit in the generator that was kept on the building's top. It quickly moved to the hospital's oxygen cylinder storage, causing several explosions. Almost thirty to thirty-five minutes later, sixteen fire tenders were dispatched to the scene. The neonatal facility lacked both an appropriate fire-combat plan and a fire NOC (no-objection certificate), according to the fire department. The facility's owner, Dr. Naveen Khichi, and his shift worker, Dr. Akash, were taken into custody on Sunday night.Additionally, hospitals that refer kids to the neonatal unit will be questioned by police. Why the food safety authority recommends against ingesting breast milk and why a Chennai store that sells it has been shut by the FSSAI

While adult consumption of breast milk, particularly from unregulated commercial sources, offers serious health hazards and ethical dilemmas, it is nonetheless extremely helpful and required for infants.Officials from the Food Safety and Standards Authorities of India (FSSAI) in Chennai took strong action against a business that they believed was selling human breast milk. After a complaint was received, the outlet was placed under inspection for ten days. Reports state that a surprise examination on Friday discovered a secret supply of breast milk, despite the fact that no sales were recorded throughout the surveillance period.Test samples have been sent from the retrieved bottles, which were priced at ₹500 for 50ml. It's crucial to remember that breast milk cannot be sold for profit in India. The FSSAI clarified last week in an advice that selling and processing human milk is against the FSS Act of 2006.Consuming breast milk, especially from unregulated sources, might be detrimental for the following reasons, according to Dr. Kranthi Shilpa, Consultant Gynecologist, CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad:- Infections and Contaminations: Hepatitis, HIV, and bacterial infections are just a few of the infectious diseases that can be spread through breast milk. Inadequate screening and pasteurization of the milk can leave it contaminated with dangerous germs.- Adulteration and Contamination: Hygiene and safety regulations may not be met by breast milk sold commercially. There is a chance that dangerous materials will get contaminated, either by careless handling or deliberate adulteration.- Nutritional Imbalance: Breast milk is designed with babies' needs, not adults', in mind. It may contribute to an unbalanced diet and fail to deliver the nutrients needed for adult health if consumed. - Storage Problems: Harmful germs might grow as a result of improper storage. To avoid bacterial contamination and spoiling, breast milk must be handled carefully and stored at a certain temperature.

A day after a major fire killed seven newborn babies and injured five more, the Delhi Police on Sunday arrested Dr. Naveen Khichi, the owner of the Baby Care New Born facility in East Delhi's Vivek Vihar, and Dr. Akash, who was on duty. After the incident, Kichi fled, and now he is being brought to the Vivek Vihar police station in Shahdara. The owner has been charged under sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary.Officials from the fire department report that the fire started at the hospital on Saturday night at around 11:30 p.m. and quickly spread to two more nearby buildings. Atul Garg, the chief of Delhi Fire Services (DFS), stated that although 12 infants were saved from the hospital, seven of them perished. Five infants with mild burn injuries are currently receiving care. Garg went on to say that the operation was quite difficult. "We divided into two groups. A succession of blasts of cylinders, as we may call it, prompted one team to begin combating fires. Thus, we also needed to save ourselves. We also initiated baby rescue activities.Locals and representatives of an NGO were the first to come to aid, according to the eyewitnesses. A few inhabitants scaled the structure from the rear and saved a few babies.

The rising cost of child care is placing a strain on workers.

The rising cost of child care is placing a strain on workers.

The soaring expenses of child care are placing a strain on both businesses and employees.According to the 2023 KIDS COUNT® Data Book, which was just released by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the lack of accessible and affordable child care in the nation shortchanges children, costs the American economy billions of dollars annually, stymies women's career advancement, and is driving families to breaking point. Every year, the report provides insight into the welfare of children in America; this year, it focuses on the effects that high-cost, difficult-to-find child care has on parents. It also discusses how inadequate compensation contributes to a persistent shortage of healthcare professionals and calls on national and state policymakers to implement effective remedies. An excessive number of parents are unable to find child care that works with their job schedules and commutes. According to the Data Book, 13% of children under the age of five who were born in 2020–2021 lived in families where a member resigned, moved jobs, or declined an offer due to child care issues. Additionally, women are five to eight times more likely than males to face unfavorable employment outcomes as a result of providing care.Parents frequently lack the funds to pay for child care, even if they are able to locate one close to their house. According to one analysis, the average annual national cost of child care for a single child in 2021 was $10,600, which is more than one-third of the income of a single parent and one-tenth of the median income of a married couple. The child care system's shortcomings have a disproportionate impact on the financial security of women, single parents, impoverished parents, families with children, and immigrant families.A robust child care system is necessary for both the well-being of children and the prosperity of our economy. But the Annie E. Casey Foundation's president and CEO, Lisa Hamilton, states, "Our current approach fails kids, parents, and child care workers by every measure." "Working parents face impossible choices without access to affordable and safe child care, which affects not only their families but also their employers. "Every year, the statistics Book rates the states based on how well children are doing overall and includes national and state statistics from 16 indicators in four domains: economic well-being, education, health, and family and community. According to the 2023 KIDS COUNT Data Book, New Hampshire, Utah, and Massachusetts rank first, second, and third in terms of overall child well-being; Mississippi, Louisiana, and New Mexico rank 48th, 49th, and 50th.

The owner of Fairfield Day Care warns of family displacement and begs Town to renew the lease.

FAIRFIELD: Fearing higher expenses for taxpayers and displaced families, the proprietor of a long-standing private day care is pleading with the municipality to extend his lease. The proprietor of A Child's Garden, Michael Miklus, claimed to have known for a long time that Fairfield intended to eventually break his contract at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities in order to provide space for a town-run business. On Monday, however, Miklus expressed shock that the parents in his community—rather than those in the town—had told him that the 2024–25 academic year would probably be his last.He admitted, "I was as surprised as anybody."Miklus encouraged Fairfield officials to prioritize the need for child care and rental income over an undetermined school board plan for the Early Childhood Center, citing an online petition that has amassed over 1,400 signatures in just four days. The popular preschool, which has been run by a family since 1981, occupies 10,000 square feet annually and is attended by over 25 teachers, 160 students, and 100 families on a waiting list. Miklus stated that he and his spouse have managed the business for the previous twenty years, with about ten of those years being leased on an annual basis. His aunt left the business to him.Miklus claims that during his yearly meeting with the municipality, First Selectman Bill Gerber and his team announced that they would extend the lease until May 2025. Although Gerber maintained that Miklus was told that the town would not be extending the lease further at that meeting, the business owner claimed it was actually the school board that informed Fairfield parents two months later. The proprietor of the company asserted that two months later, the school board notified the Fairfield parents, notwithstanding Gerber's insistence that Miklus was informed at that meeting that the town would not be renewing the lease.

Positive parenting How feedback affects a childs emotional and general wellbeing

Positive parenting How feedback affects a childs emotional and general wellbeing

The goal of positive parenting is to use feedback to support a child's mental health, resilience, and sense of self-worth. Professionals offer advicePositive parenting focuses on providing feedback to foster a child's self-esteem, build resilience, and promote mental well-being since the words we use to lead our children have a significant impact on their mental health. Children's self-image and self-esteem are shaped by our words and nonverbal cues, and this formative experience also serves as the foundation for the inner dialogue that they carry into adulthood.Mansi Poddar, a trauma-informed psychotherapist, said in an interview with HT Lifestyle: "When feedback emphasizes effort and progress, it supports a child's attempts and celebrates their growth. This enhances self-esteem and confidence. Say something more precise, like, "I loved how you used different colors in your drawing," rather than just "good job."Mansi Poddar declared, "This fosters a love for learning and self-motivation," adding that receiving positive feedback makes learning and accomplishments truly enjoyable. Remind a young person of their efforts by saying something like, "I see you practiced your piano piece, it sounds great!" When parents give their children feedback that acknowledges their feelings, the child learns to recognize and control their emotions. By doing this, emotional intelligence is developed. Pay attention to how their actions impact you: “It makes me happy when you share your toys.”"When we celebrate effort after challenges, it helps to increase a kid's resilience," the speaker continued. Saying something as basic as, "I know that test was hard, but you kept trying!" can have a significant impact. Here, kids discover that errors are opportunities rather than disappointments. This strengthens resilience and the capacity to overcome obstacles."Mindful relating can be the nourishing soil for the development of children," noted Sandy Dias Andrade, psychotherapist and founder-director of the Just Being Center for Mindfulness and Presence, adding her knowledge to the same. Their self-talk translates as "I'm not ok" or "I'm not perfect" and "I have to be a particular way to be accepted and loved" or "I'm not good enough" when we are harsh, critical, or impatient with them. The speaker came to the following conclusion: "In some ways, it validates who they are at a deeper level of being when we are encouraging, soothing, and truly see their efforts, their traits, that are not just reflected in our words but also in our eyes, through our touch, and in how we relate to them. People feel accepted for who they are. As a result, kids develop an innate ease and confidence in themselves, in their interactions with others, and in the world, exactly as they are. We serve as reflections of their inner selves.

Do infants really need to be burped? This is what the study concludes.

Do infants really need to be burped? This is what the study concludes.

It's common advice for parents to burp their infants after feeding them. Certain individuals believe that burping is crucial to lessen or stop a baby from crying in discomfort or to lessen the amount of milk the baby regurgitates after eating. It's true that when babies eat, they swallow air just like adults do. This air is expelled from the upper portion of our digestive tracts when we burp. Therefore, many people believe that a baby's crying after feeding indicates that they need to "be burped." But this isn't always the case.In the end, the decision is yours. Burping a baby gently is safe. Continue nursing your infant if you believe that it is beneficial to them. You don't have to continue burping your baby after every feeding if it's making you or your infant anxious.

Child care costs are still rising while the supply is staying the same.

The research, Child Care at a Standstill, which integrates annual survey data, states that although the number of child care centers recovered to pre-pandemic levels in 2022, the supply did not increase in 2023. The report also underscores the challenges families have in finding high-quality, reasonably priced child care so they may continue to engage in the workforce. The research, Child Care at a Standstill, which integrates annual survey data, states that although the number of child care centers recovered to pre-pandemic levels in 2022, the supply did not increase in 2023. The shortage of child care has been for a while, and the pandemic made it worse.Furthermore, from 2022 to 2023, the national average cost of child care increased by 3.7% to $11,582, a cost that is higher than typical family household expenses including rent. The average national cost of child care is so high that it requires 10% of the income of a married couple with children or 32% of the income of a single parent with children to pay for a year of care. "The child care industry in America is stagnant, but it doesn't have to be. True advancement is achievable. Susan Gale Perry, Chief Executive Officer of CCAoA, stated, "We can make changes to increase the supply of child care and save families money—just look at successful pandemic-era investments in child care." "We must challenge the broken business model of our current child care system and move forward to prioritize sustainable state and federal funding increases and policy changes in support of improving quality, accessibility and affordability while fortifying the workforce."

Oxfordshire will host Foster Care Fortnight from May 13–26, 2024.

Oxfordshire will host Foster Care Fortnight from May 13–26, 2024.

In a campaign to commemorate Foster Care Fortnight, which takes place from May 13–26, 2024, Oxfordshire County Council is asking residents to think about applying to be foster parents. With 14 years of experience as a foster carer, Oxfordshire native Samantha Allen is assisting in the education of others about the ins and outs of this fulfilling experience."There are a ton of options for fostering," says Samantha. "For the past seven years, I have supported both the parent and their child as a parent/child foster carer. In between, I have done some emergency fostering. I adore happy endings, which may take many different forms. One such example is witnessing the children I've cared for mature and gain confidence as they become ready for the real world."There are many other aspects of the job that I enjoy, such as seeing the babies I have taken care of grow and thrive and giving them a sense of security and love. " It's also wonderful to see kids reunited with their adoptive parent or parents and mothers returning home with their infants after a 12-week evaluation with you.New mothers can occasionally be blind to their own success. I believe it is my responsibility to empower people in these situations and to increase their self-belief. Since praise is never enough, I just keep doing it, which allows me to progressively instill confidence.Seeing them grow and knowing that a mother has conquered her anxieties and can handle being a mother is great. It's really encouraging to me, and it's obviously fantastic for the mother and child as they grow closer.Foster parents like Samantha receive a lot of assistance from Oxfordshire County Council, including social worker access and a variety of additional support services. The council wants to establish a network known as the "fostering community," where foster parents may go for support and direction to help them improve the lives of the children in their community.According to Samantha, there are numerous options that may be tailored to an individual's schedule and needs. These include emergency care, short- or long-term respite care, and programs that assist both parents and their children. You can present yourself as your family, be single, or be of the same sex. Furthermore, since you can potentially foster if you are 21 years of age or older, age is not a barrier."The kids I've had the honor of fostering have given my life so much enjoyment and direction. I would urge anyone considering foster care to take their time, do their homework, and ask plenty of questions. Like me, there are many foster parents who would be happy to talk to you about our experiences and give you a realistic understanding of what's involved. People need to know that Oxfordshire County Council offers a ton of support and will put them in touch with other foster carers so they may form support networks.

Parenting in 2024 The top 7 newborn care requirements that all parents should be aware of

Parenting in 2024 The top 7 newborn care requirements that all parents should be aware of

In the year 2024, as you tenderly touch your newborn and treasure the developing moments, you might experience a brief pang of worry: "How will I handle this duty and how will I take care of my baby? Fear not—we have a pediatrician on staff to help you with the essentials of baby care and to ease your parenting anxieties around taking care of a newborn.Dr. Prakash Vaidya, Consultant in Pediatrics at Fortis Hospital in Mulund, made the following recommendations in an interview with HT Lifestyle:The first and most important thing that any mother should strive to provide for her newborn is breast milk. Babies that are exclusively breastfed are endowed with benefits that last a lifetime. I hear this theme much too frequently: "Doctor, I had a C-section, so I was unable to breastfeed my baby for the first few days." Getting the baby to latch onto the mother's breast as soon as possible is vitally important. In reality, bonding begins as soon as the baby is heard crying after a C-section delivery! These days, we do all in our power to allow the mother to hold her child, even attempting to nurse them on the operating table while the abdomeninitially-time mothers frequently experience feeding and latching issues at initially. However, these are fixable with time and the appropriate assistance. Mothers often begin spoon-feeding their babies top milk (formula) at first, but they quickly transition to bottle feeding. This is a big no-no since the infant will reject the breast and get acclimated to being fed from a bottle soon after. Therefore, refrain from bottle feeding and, if possible, seek lactation consultant assistance as soon as possible.Every parent has to learn how to take care of their umbilical chord and keep it dry and clean. The best way is to clean the cord with spirit or something similar. The next crucial step is to perform screening tests to make sure your child is clear of conditions that could cause them to become handicapped in the future. The recommended course of action is to have these tests, which are widely accessible, ideally during the first week of life. Two of the most crucial screening tests that each newborn must have are an OAE test (hearing screen) and a TSH test (thyroid levels).Keeping the infant safe from diseases that can be avoided is another key. BCG, Hepatitis B, and OPV vaccinations must be given to all newborns during the first 24 hours of life; nevertheless, immunize them regardless of any delays.Another important thing to do is to avoid bad raising methods, even though these could be ingrained in societal ideas. These include giving the infant "ghuti," putting oil in their ears or noses, and so on.
