Part 1 of Beyond the Scroll: Deciphering Print's Unwavering Hold on Reader Loyalty and Trust
Print media's lasting appeal in an increasingly digital environment is evidence of its special advantages. Print nevertheless has a unique and frequently esteemed place in economies where media consumption is influenced by political consciousness and long-standing cultural links, even while the sheer amount of internet content threatens to overwhelm. This durability stems from qualities like believability, tangibleness, and a fostered environment for ongoing participation that digital platforms, despite their immediacy, find difficult to duplicate.According to the recently published WARC Global Ad Trends Report on "Advertising's Breaking News Problem," India is defying the global trend of declining ad spend on news content by seeing an increase in both print and internet sales. According to the report, newsbrand ad spending in India has increased by 6% annually.According to the recently published WARC Global Ad Trends Report on "Advertising's Breaking News Problem," India is defying the global trend of declining ad spend on news content by seeing an increase in both print and internet sales. According to the report, newsbrand ad spending in India has increased by 6% annually. In order to understand what keeps print media so strong in India despite the country's swift shift to digital, Adgully interviews a variety of print industry experts and marketers for this two-part investigation. This attitude is nicely expressed by Sakshi Media Director Rani Reddy, who notes, "Yes, we are witnessing a big digital deluge." However, print continues to hold its revered position as a reliable medium, particularly in southern regional areas where readers are more politically conscious and aligned. According to her, this trust is a result of print's tactile qualities, in-depth editing, and carefully chosen content, all of which work together to create a strong emotional bond with readers. Sakshi's well-established credibility, first-rate hyperlocal coverage, and crucial role in helping readers live their lives by pointing them in the direction of "a better tomorrow" all serve to further solidify their devotion. In a world when social media is full with constant notifications and frequently overwhelming information, print provides a much-needed break from the screen and encourages real interaction.

The new TV is YouTube, and it's very different from the old one! Section Two
In his yearly letter to the business this February, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan declared, "YouTube is the new television." He highlighted YouTube's transition into a major entertainment platform by saying that more people now watch the video on TV displays than on mobile devices."A growing number of people watch YouTube in addition to TV. Every day, viewers watch more than 1 billion hours of YouTube content on TVs, and in the US, TVs are now the main way that people watch YouTube. However, the appearance of the "new" television differs from that of the "old." In addition to the sports, sitcoms, and chat shows that people already enjoy, it's interactive and features content like shorts (yep, people watch them on TVs), podcasts, and live streams, Mohan said. Will YouTube take the place of traditional television as the new mainstream media? And how might this change reshape advertising, entertainment, and audience participation in the years to come? YouTube has changed over the last 20 years from being a place to post oddball, low-quality videos to becoming a major force in the entertainment sector and starting to look more and more like television. The distinction between YouTube and TV has become more hazy as viewers watch 1 billion hours of YouTube every day on smart TVs and broadcasters are now posting entire episodes. This convergence has been highlighted by the thriving partnerships between YouTubers and mainstream media, such as MrBeast's Prime Video series Beast Games and the Sidemen's Netflix reality program Inside. The integration has generated controversy, though, since some YouTube-based programs have come under fire for their content quality and production ethics, raising worries about a media "race to the bottom." YouTube now concentrates on serving as a distribution center while producers and broadcasters adjust to its business model, despite its brief foray into original content. Disney and other traditional TV networks are using YouTube to reach a wider audience. YouTube's popularity and production budgets indicate that it will continue to play a significant role in entertainment, even though it may not be able to compete with TV in terms of premium narrative in the foreseeable future. According to some analysts, YouTube and traditional television will merge to form a single media environment.

Harshvardhan Rane responds after Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane is removed off the "Sanam Teri Kasam" album covers on the music app.
On music apps like Spotify, the image of Pakistani actor Mawra Hocane has been digitally deleted from the Sanam Teri Kasam ad. The crew of the movie responds. It appears that Pakistani musicians have no place on our music CDs, not simply on their social media profiles. Actors who appear in Indian films from across the border are gradually being removed from the film's assets. On Monday, it was seen that Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane were the only actors on the Sanam Teri Kasam album. She is no longer featured on Spotify or YouTube Music's covers of the movie's album. When we contacted Deepak Mukut, the film's producer, he claimed to be unaware of this, saying, "They didn't ask me, it's their decision." Everyone must abide by whatever our government says.“Now they will say that my PR team got this done!” Harshvardhan tells HT City. No, I suppose it's just common sense; weeding is being done. In the 2017 movie Raees, Shah Rukh Khan and Pakistani star Mahira Khan performed a romantic number called "Zaalima." There is no sign of Mahira on the album cover on YouTube, YouTube Music, or Spotify, which just has SRK solo.

YouTube at 20: Part 1: From romantic fantasies to digital dominance
Unbelievably, when YouTube first debuted as a dating service in 2005, it was its original tagline. You heard correctly. Originally, people were supposed to provide videos that described their ideal spouses. Despite paying women $20 to post their videos to YouTube, the concept failed. The founders, Steve Chen, Jawed Karim, and Chad Hurley, who were once employees of PayPal, persisted. They finally came to the conclusion, according to Steve Chen, "OK, forget the dating aspect, let's just open it up to any video."What about the first video? Jawed Karim posted an 18-second video titled "Me at the zoo" from the San Diego Zoo on April 23, 2005. This little video shows Karim standing in front of zoo elephants and remarking on how long their trunks are. Even while it was far from the polished productions of today, it encapsulated the spirit of YouTube: anyone could share their moment, passion, or tale with the world. A little more than a year later, in October 2006, YouTube was purchased by Google for $1.65 billion, providing the platform with the resources, infrastructure, and reach it needed to develop into the worldwide behemoth it is today. As they say, the rest is history. Then, in honor of the millions of regular content creators influencing the digital era, Time magazine named "You" its Person of the Year for 2006. Despite not being specifically mentioned, YouTube was a major factor in this cultural change. A mirrored mirror was even used on the magazine's cover to represent the growth of user-generated content. With its remarkable transformation of the concept and process of content creation, distribution, consumption, and monetization, YouTube has emerged as the leading content powerhouse of our time, giving rise to the modern creator economy.

Doctors express an urgent warning that reels are now causing eye issues after "brain rot."
All age groups, but mainly children and young adults, are experiencing an increase in eye diseases as a result of excessive screen use, especially binge-watching reels on social media sites.Following worries about the effect of short-form films on mental health, medical professionals are now sounding the alarm about a brand-new, rapidly developing issue: "reel-induced eye damage."Across all age groups, excessive screen time—especially binge-watching reels on social media sites like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok—is contributing to an increase in eye diseases, particularly in children and young adults. Leading ophthalmologists discussed this at the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology and All India Ophthalmological Society's ongoing Joint Meeting, which took place Tuesday at the Yashobhoomi-India International Convention and Expo Centre.Dr. Lalit Verma, president of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) 2025 Congress, spoke sternly about the "silent epidemic of digital eye strain" brought on by prolonged screen time. "We are seeing a sharp increase in cases of dry eye syndrome, myopia progression, eye strain, and even early-onset squinting, especially in children who spend hours watching reels," he stated. "We recently had a student who came in complaining of blurred vision and ongoing eye irritation. Upon inspection, we discovered that his eyes were not shedding enough tears as a result of spending too much time at home viewing reels on a screen. He was given eye drops right away, and the doctor told him to observe the 20-20-20 rule, which calls for looking at anything 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes. The president of the All India Ophthalmological Society and chairman of the organizing committee, Dr. Harbansh Lal, described the gravity of the situation.

Another day, another Instagram beauty tip that has gone viral. You surely have a feed full of skincare tips on how to treat acne if you have it, like I do. Social media is using natural components from your kitchen, such as flax seeds for "botox" and raw garlic. This time, raw ginger is the focus, as influencers assert that applying it topically can help eradicate acne. It seems like a simple solution to acne, doesn't it?Innumerable videos of Indian skinfluencers with radiant skin can be found online these days, stating that the key isn't pricey facials but rather applying raw ginger directly to acne outbreaks to treat them right away. But is this spicy suggestion really supported by any science? To find out if this pattern is reliable, let's take a closer look and get some professional guidance. What are the opinions of experts? First, let's get this out of the way. Anything is not necessarily beneficial to your skin just because it is natural. particularly when used undiluted and raw. Senior consultant dermatologist Dr. Gulhima Arora of Mehektagul Dermaclinic states that ginger has only been indirectly shown to be effective in treating acne in scientific studies. It shouldn't be regarded as the primary or first line of treatment. She emphasizes that acne is a complex condition and that not all of its triggers can be addressed by a single spice.Dermatologist and Kaya Limited medical advisor Dr. Saranya B concurs, saying that using raw ginger to the face is not a clinically validated method of treating acne. Despite its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities, direct application may irritate skin. According to Skin Smart Solutions' founder and principal dermatologist, Dr. Bindu Sthalekar, "there is no scientific proof that applying raw ginger topically treats acne." Theoretically, it might be beneficial, but only if taken in conjunction with other drugs and with good tolerance.

Axar Patel leads DC to a decisive victory over Rishabh Pant's LSG on a night that contrasts for the captains.
Returning to Lucknow for the first time since his unsatisfactory dismissal from the team, KL Rahul ended the game with a spectacular six to go undefeated in a run-chase with a 42-ball 57.On a night full of stories at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium, the Delhi Capitals won by 8 wickets in a 160-run chase, solidifying their status as this season's title contenders. KL Rahul, who is making his first appearance in Lucknow after his unsatisfactory dismissal from the team, ended the game with a spectacular six to go undefeated in a run chase with a 42-ball 57. In the twelfth over of their respective innings, LSG and DC both lost their second wicket. Axar Patel entered when a composed Abishek Porel collapsed. At this point, DC was only under a little pressure to take a few wickets, but it might have grown complicated because new batters take time to get comfortable. With two sixes over the midwicket zone, his favorite hit against spin, Axar took out Ravi Bishnoi in the very next over after Avesh Khan had dismissed him after four dot balls. In the following over, facing Avesh once more after being outscored by a few deliveries, he decided to take a chance and hit a four to try to clear the fielder at mid-off. The most impressive stroke came from Shardul Thakur, who took up a not-so-short ball with the weight still on his backfoot and sent it over long on for a six.

Nitish Rana on RR not selecting him for Super Over against DC despite 51 off 28: "One person never takes the call."
Despite hitting 51 off 28 balls against the Delhi Capitals, Nitish Rana was left out of the Super Over lineup as the Rajasthan Royals entered with Hetmyer and Riyan Parag.Nitish Rana remained in the middle until the 18th over of the chase after smashing 51 off 28 balls. At the Arun Jaitely Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday, the Rajasthan Royals sent neither batsman to bat despite Yashasvi Jaiswal's 51 off 37 balls in the Super Over against the Delhi Capitals. Eyes were rolling when Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag came out to bat in the Super Over. Rana wasn't even on the list of the three batters for the Super Over, but Jaiswal was chosen to bat following a wicket fall.RR's choice proved to be a poor one as Mitchell Starc of DC cramped the Hetmyer for space with yorkers and the reverse swing, allowing him to begin the Super Over with a dot ball. The Australian bowler was hit for four after missing his mark on the next delivery, but he recovered with another low full toss in the third ball. A single was taken by Hetmyer.Starc's low full toss was hit by Riyan Parag over third man for a boundary, sometimes known as a no-ball. After it appeared that RR would easily reach 15 with three balls left, the game took yet another sharp turn. RR was bowled out for just 11 as Parag and Jaiswal were ran out in the following ball.KL Rahul and Tristian Stubbs smash two sixes in the first three balls of Sandeep Sharma's Super Over to give DC a historic victory, so the total was insufficient. Following the game, Nitish Rana stated that the decision to send Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer instead of him for the Super Over was made by the RR management. Rana said he didn't have an alternative response, adding that if Hetmyer had hit a couple of sixes in the Super Over, the questions would have been different."The call is answered by management, not a single individual. Along with two other senior players and coaches, the captain is present. You wouldn't be asking this question if Shimron Hetmyer had hit two sixes. I'll respond with the same response. I have no other response. Every choice we made was the right one. Everyone knows that Hetmyer is our finisher. During the press conference, Rana stated, "He has previously delivered."

India's bold strategy aids in a quick T20 reconstruction
The world champions are creating an environment where players perform well without worrying about keeping their spots in the squad or taking wickets.Kolkata: Although it's early, the process and outcomes give hope that India would successfully defend the T20 World Cup at home the following year. Despite the pessimism caused by the Test and ODI transition issues, India's T20 trajectory stands out thanks to series victories against South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and now England. Even more so when one considers that Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have not been parachuted in.This is most likely a greater accomplishment. However, they have approached it virtually undetected. No culture of stars. Verify. No set order for batting. Verify. Just a group of young, talented, and incredibly self-assured cricket players going about their business without worrying about career curves. By the way, all IPL linchpins.Captain Suryakumar Yadav acknowledges his lack of quality as he is left off the Champions Trophy roster. Abhishek Sharma thinks a ball is there to be struck, hence he doesn't count returns. As long as Tilak Varma is at the crease, the second Twenty20 match in Chennai demonstrated that no equation is too difficult. And the fact that India lost to 12/3 and then 79/5 at Pune on Friday, yet still managed to score 181, demonstrated that the previous game's disaster chasing in Rajkot was really a fluke. The realization that not everything can be managed lies at the core of this long-term upsurge. Earlier this week, Sitanshu Kotak, India's new batting coach, said it. "To achieve a score of 200 or 225, and if you are

An account of the water battles between India and Pakistan by Jawaharlal Nehru and Mohd Ali Jinnah
Both leaders chastised Cyril Radcliffe for proposing to operate the Indus river-canal system as a joint Indo-Pak enterprise. His final effort to resolve the ongoing conflict that keeps coming up was that.Muhammad Ali Jinnah scolded Cyril Radcliffe a few weeks prior to his drawing the famous Line that separated India and Pakistan in August 1947. The Boundary Commission chairman was informed by Pakistan's founder that he preferred "deserts to fertile fields watered by courtesy of Hindus." Jawaharlal Nehru would then give a dressing-down as part of the "joint Hindu-Muslim rebuke."It was not Radcliffe's fault. His largest task in dividing the land was to assign control of the irrigation system, which was "built, with a good deal of British inspiration, largely by Sikh money, design, and sweat" to channel river waters through a system of intricate canals to the arid west, "turning the province into the granary of India" in order to combat the oppressive heat caused by a delayed monsoon in the soon-to-be divided Punjab. The majority of the land they irrigated was in the west, which would eventually become Pakistan, but the five rivers that provided the water were all in the east and would always fall under India. Radcliffe proposed to Jinnah and Nehru, via the Viceroy, that they administer this river-canal system as an Indo-Pakistan joint enterprise after realizing that Partition "vitally threatened" the vast watering network.

Exclusive: As the BJP seeks caste balance in the AIADMK alliance, Annamalai may resign as TN chairman.
"Delhi sees a bright future for him," the youthful Annamalai, whose assertive position on issues has given the BJP publicity in Tamil Nadu, if not political success thus far, was informed. As coalition negotiations between the parties pick up steam, K Annamalai, who is regarded as a major factor in the 2023 split between the AIADMK and BJP, may resign as head of the BJP Tamil Nadu. However, according to BJP sources, caste equations will be the reason rather than "punishment." The BJP does not want a Gounder to represent both the party and the AIADMK in the 2026 state elections if the parties run together. Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the leader of the AIADMK, shares Annamalai's heritage as a member of the powerful backward community and the Gounder-dominated western Kongu region. According to BJP insiders, the first official moves for a reconciliation between the BJP and AIADMK were taken when Annamalai met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi shortly after Shah's meeting with Palaniswami."Delhi sees a bright future for him," the youthful Annamalai, whose combative approach to issues has given the BJP visibility in Tamil Nadu, if not political success thus far, was told. The leadership responded by saying that Annamalai was expected to trust the party and adhere to its strategy. It is thought that Annamalai declared her total allegiance to the party. According to a top BJP leader, "he expressed that he has no regrets about his dedication to the party and is even willing to work as a mere cadre." "Annamalai remains a key figure in the party's long-term strategy for Tamil Nadu, whether or not he leaves his position as state president," stated another politician. It is unclear if he will assume a national function or a different state job.

"The case contains nothing... Financial difficulties caused it to close for a while. Sonia Gandhi used donations and loans to try to bring it back to life. They now claim that taking out a loan is improper. The BJP is operating illegally. We will demonstrate that what is wrong is wrong. Our advantage. Why Gujarat was the subject of the first special resolution at the AICC session before the 2027 elections
The resolution lays out a plan for the Congress's 30-year absence from power in Gujarat, including resurrecting the organization, promising a caste census, and taking Gandhi and Sardar Patel's lead. Two days after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Ahmedabad concluded with the passing of a Gujarat-specific special resolution outlining the party's agenda for the 2027 Assembly elections, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge sent a video message to Gujarati partymen saying, "Aap gharon se bahar nikaliye, badlav aapki pratiksha mein hai (Step out of your homes, change is waiting for you). "Kharge added that Ahmedabad's hosting of the first AICC session in the state since 1961 and an extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting at Sardar Patel Smarak in Shahibaug on the banks of the Sabarmati river on April 8–9 "proved" his party's "active and combative" organization in Gujarat, where it has been out of power for roughly 30 years.Despite being pumped up, Congress leaders expressed doubts about the cadres' ability to stay motivated until the elections, especially party veterans and young leaders. In a sudden move, the party leadership on Saturday designated one AICC observer and four Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) observers for each of the 41 DCCs. The DCCs will convene in Modasa, Aravalli district, on Monday to supervise the appointment of DCC presidents.

Did artificial intelligence sap Coca-Cola's Christmas cheer?
Social media users reacted negatively to Coca-Cola's recent AI-generated Christmas advertisements. Many contend that the intended Christmas spirit was overshadowed by the campaign's lack of emotional connection and appropriate execution. Although the advertising' technology was impressive, the narrative fell short of the success of Coca-Cola's seminal 1995 commercial. We sought the opinions of prominent figures in Indian advertising.Social media users made fun of Coca-Cola's AI-generated Christmas advertisements when they were published last month. Some users felt that the magic had been lost in the advertisements, which were meant to honor the brand's famous Coca-Cola Christmas commercials from 1995, "Holidays Are Coming." Experts in the field offer their opinions on whether the recent internet backlash against the cola giant's advertisements is the result of bad execution or AI failure. The CCO of DDB Mudra Group, Rahul Mathew "I believe that a campaign's ambition is what makes it successful. You won't be content until you achieve your goal of being the most talked-about campaign. On the other hand, you will be content that you are out there if your goal is simply to be there. I believe the goal of the Coca-Cola commercial was just to be an AI execution. And rather than being a tale that appeals to everyone's Christmas spirit, that has turned into the commercial's narrative."Animation, CG, AI, and live action are all methods of execution. World Chess Championship: ‘Mistake after Mistake’ – how ex-world champions described level of play in Ding Liren-Gukesh clash
The match between Ding Liren, the current FIDE world chess champion, and D Gukesh, the challenger, got underway quickly. The Chinese grandmaster won the first game before letting his opponent tie the score in the third. After three straight draws, both players are tied with three points apiece going into Tuesday's Game 7.However, the caliber of play in the title matchup thus far has left former world champions Magnus Carlsen and Vladimir Kramnik feeling let down.To be honest, I am somewhat dissatisfied with today's game (Game 6). Even Game 5 wasn't very good, but today's play was incredibly poor from both players, especially for a professional. During his analysis of game 6 on his YouTube channel, former world champion Kramnik blasted, "It's a very disappointing level.""This game is really weird. Both players were making strategic errors one after the other. As though they don't understand the role. I may be outdated, but it's quite simple! They're excellent calculators and players, of course. They have amazing math skills. However, I anticipate a world championship match to be a little more, like an exchange of ideas! Human ideas, human play! I would much prefer watch a chess engines world championship if I wanted to appreciate chess as merely a computation game!

Masaba Gupta works out for the first time since giving birth:
Masaba Gupta is thrilled to be going back to the gym forty days after giving birth. The fashion designer shared the noteworthy update on her Instagram Stories, where she can be seen exercising on the traveling rings, which are used for a range of workouts and activities."I prepared myself like a happy child...with my bottle and bag as if it were the first day of my first postpartum workout. Gupta stated, "Back with chief Apoorv Mathur – new body, new goals, same focus.""And you have a new superpower. #Motherhood is a superpower," her coach wrote while reposting it.According to experts, these rings provide a full-body workout by working several muscle groups, which might contribute to the enjoyable development of strength and endurance. These rings aid in targeting the arms, shoulders, back, chest, core, and legs, depending on the particular action.Dr Deepthi Bawa, senior consultant-gyneacologist, IVF specialist, laparoscopic and cosmetic surgeon, SPARSH Hospital for Women and Children, said that postpartum workouts — like ring exercises — play a key role in a mother’s recovery journey, both physical and mental. “The controlled movements required in these exercises help rebuild core strength, which is often weakened due to pregnancy and childbirth. Core strengthening helps with posture and lower back pain, which is a typical issue for new mothers, according to Dr. Bawa.Furthermore, pelvic floor health is improved by these functional strength training activities, which is crucial for preventing urine incontinence and promoting recovery following vaginal or cesarean delivery.Additionally, strength training after giving birth helps to improve blood circulation and increase endorphin synthesis, which helps to combat weariness and increase overall energy levels, according to Dr. Bawa. Dr. Bawa, however, advised moms to start under expert supervision and tailor their exercise regimen to their stage of recuperation. For new moms who want to regain their physical health, gentle, incremental training can be life-changing.

IOAA and GroupM work together to advance sustainability in the OOH sector.
The establishment of a specialized task-force committee to promote sustainable practices in the Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising sector has been announced by GroupM, WPP's media investment arm, in partnership with the Indian Outdoor Advertising Association (IOAA). Along with industry experts Pawan Bansal, chairman of IOAA, and Pramod Bhandula, executive chairman of JCDecaux Advertising India, the committee, which includes Ajay Mehta, MD Cinema, OOH, and experiential marketing at GroupM, is dedicated to helping media owners implement sustainable practices. By 2027, the group wants to guarantee that 50% of all Indian advertising sites use recyclable materials. The adoption of renewable energy, especially solar power, will be the task force's top priority in order to counteract the increase in power consumption brought on by the switch to Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising. The group will create a plan for converting OOH assets to renewable energy sources and improving cost effectiveness by purchasing in bulk. The team will also look into sustainable alternatives to standard flex, such cloth and polyethylene, with the goal of finding materials that are strong, lightweight, weatherproof, and recyclable. To guarantee a cost-neutral transition, suppliers will be vetted through due diligence, and bulk agreements will be negotiated. Additionally, in collaboration with nonprofit organizations, a "Take Back Program" will be implemented to recycle discarded billboard materials. This program seeks to promote industry-wide responsibility and further reduce waste. In order to ensure that sustainable practices are widely adopted, the committee's goal is to promote environmental responsibility among media owners and partners. The World Out of Home Organization's (WOO) insights will also be used to help the OOH industry's worldwide sustainability initiatives.Using polyethylene fabric, GroupM's OOH Solutions team has already implemented sustainability initiatives with brands like ICICI, Zepto, and Blinkit, demonstrating practical solutions that adhere to sustainable standards. "As leaders in the media industry, it is our responsibility to move the needle, inspire transformation, and ensure that sustainable practices become the norm rather than the exception," emphasized Ajay Mehta, MD of Cinema, OOH, and experiential marketing at GroupM. This group will work to strike a balance between creative advertising and environmental responsibility since I firmly think that we should all do good while doing well. "Sustainability is the future of advertising, and IOAA is committed to guiding media owners towards responsible, eco-friendly practices," said Pawan Bansal, chairman of IOAA, in response to this effort. This project will not only

On September 4, 2024, Jha will take over as CEO of the fast commerce company. As competition intensifies in the rapid commerce space, Swiggy has made a move into larger e-commerce categories by appointing Flipkart veteran Amitesh Jha as the new CEO of Instamart.Amitesh Jha, a Flipkart veteran, was named CEO of Swiggy Instamart by IPO-bound Swiggy at a time when rapid commerce competitors are preparing for a fierce competition with e-commerce behemoths. The hiring of Jha reflects the desire of rapid commerce companies to expand beyond grocery by entering e-commerce markets that have historically been robust, such electronics, fashion, and clothing. According to his LinkedIn page, Jha, who has 14 years of experience at Flipkart, was most recently the Senior Vice President of Category and Marketplace, where he oversaw high-growth companies that accounted for 70% of transactions on the Walmart-owned e-commerce platform.Swiggy Group CEO Sriharsha Majety highlighted Jha's "extensive experience in leading core categories such as smartphones, general merchandise, fashion, and large appliances, as well as managing their logistics arm" when he explained why the former Flipkart executive was chosen to lead Instamart. Protecting Swiggy Instamart's market share, which UBS thinks is currently between 20 and 25 percent, compared to Bernstein's projections of 35 to 39 percent in 2023, is one of Jha's biggest problems. In addition to market leader Blinkit's steady rise, BigBasket's complete focus on speedy commerce and Zepto's charge, which is being supported by $1 billion in new funding, are the main causes of the assault.
