As competition intensifies, Anthropic updates its AI safety pledge. What is stated in the new policy?

Anthropic has updated its safety guidelines to better reflect the current global regulatory framework that places a higher priority on the development and competitiveness of AI. The Claude maker stated in a revised version of its Responsible Scaling Policy (RSP), a voluntary framework that Anthropic uses to address catastrophic risks from AI systems, that it would not cease developing an AI model that was deemed dangerous if a competitor had already released a model that was comparable or better. This is a change from its RSP from two years ago, which said Anthropic would postpone potentially hazardous AI development. Anthropic stated in a blog post on Tuesday, February 24 that the change in its safety policy was brought about by the rapid advancement of AI and the absence of government agreement on AI rules. Given that Anthropic has been repeatedly referred to as one of the most safety-conscious companies in the AI industry, the revised policy represents a significant change. But the AI startup has also faced fierce competition from rivals like Google, OpenAI, and Elon Musk's xAI, which frequently release state-of-the-art tools."We anticipated that the announcement of our RSP would inspire other AI firms to implement comparable regulations." We anticipated that RSPs or comparable regulations would eventually become voluntary industry standards or influence AI legislation meant to promote safety and openness in AI model development, according to Anthropic. It further stated that "some parts of this theory of change have played out as we hoped, but others have not," based on its evaluation of the earlier RSPs.

How CTV can prevent repeating the ad errors of linear TV for living room monetization

How CTV can prevent repeating the ad errors of linear TV for living room monetization

Connected TV live sports are about to enter a crucial period of recalibration. The medium is plagued by an old broadcast reflex: more advertisements equal more money, despite its promises of scale, accuracy, and living-room supremacy. A fundamental concern for the ecosystem is raised by the growing need to profit from every stop as live matches draw enormous concurrent audiences. To what extent can ad loads be increased before fandom becomes transactional and viewer immersion breaks down? Tolerance is a delicate currency in an environment where control and choice are paramount. This unique research explores what sustainability actually means during live sports by bringing together voices from the CTV, ad-tech, platform, and agency sectors. Beyond simple inventory counts, topics like experience design, temporal intelligence, creative ecosystems, and attention economics are covered. The emphasis is on creating a model where monetization does not come at the expense of loyalty, taking into account factors like the unpredictable nature of live broadcasts and the potential to increase interaction after the final whistle. The fundamental conflict is obvious: how well the ecosystem learns to use the screen, rather than how much advertising it can accommodate, will determine the direction of CTV sports in the future.

According to sources, India orders a university to withdraw from the AI summit after introducing a Chinese robot as its own.

According to two government sources, an Indian university was forced to leave its booth at the nation's premier AI event after a staff member was seen passing off a commercially available robotic dog manufactured in China as the institution's own.Orion needs to meet you. This was created by Galgotias University's Centre of Excellence," communications professor Neha Singh said this week on state-run channel DD News in comments that have since gone viral.NEW DELHI (AP) — After one of its employees showed off a commercially available robotic dog manufactured in China and claimed it was the institution's own invention, a private Indian university was expelled from a major artificial intelligence symposium in New Delhi on Wednesday. Two government sources claim that a day after Neha Singh, a communications professor at Galgotias University, told state-run broadcaster DD News that the robotic dog Orion was created by the university's Center of Excellence, the university was directed to remove its booth at the summit. However, internet users soon recognized the robot as the Unitree Go2, which is used extensively in research and education and is marketed by China's Unitree Robotics. It starts at $1,600. Singh told reporters on Wednesday that she had never stated outright that the dog was an exhibit rather than the university's original creation. The two government officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not permitted to address the media, said the event was an embarrassment for the host nation, India. But according to a statement from Galgotias, the university was "deeply pained" and called the occurrence a "propaganda campaign" that might spread negativity and lower the spirits of students who are trying to use global technology to innovate, learn, and develop their talents.

Notion cofounder Akshay Kothari claims his new AI agent can do everything a human can

Notion has rolled out one of its biggest updates yet with the launch of Notion 3.0, and at the centre of it is the brand-new AI Agent. The company is pitching this feature not just as a smart assistant but as a reliable teammate inside the platform that can take over tasks users usually have to do themselves. The idea is to make workspaces smarter, faster, and more personalised, at a time when organisations are increasingly relying on automation to save time and cut down repetitive work. The update has started rolling out from Thursday, making the AI Agent available to all Notion users globally. According to the company, the agent is capable of handling almost everything a human can do within Notion, whether it is building a fresh page, putting together databases, or pulling in updates from connected apps like Slack and even the open web. Notion says this release is a milestone for them as it changes the way people can collaborate with the platform. One standout aspect of the AI Agent is its ability to “remember” how a user works. Notion has created editable profiles where the agent stores what it learns about user habits. These “memories” can be tweaked and adjusted anytime, giving people flexibility to shape the agent as per their needs. What makes it more interesting is that users can set up multiple profiles, each with different behaviours, which means the same tool can act differently depending on the task or team setup. The company has shared a wide range of use cases for the new feature. For individuals, it could mean help with organising movie lists or planning travel itineraries, while for teams it could take the form of writing campaign emails, merging feedback into reports, or converting meeting notes into actionable project updates. In short, the agent is designed to handle both personal productivity and team-level workflows.Notion’s cofounder Akshay Kothari has already given people a glimpse of the agent’s abilities in earlier previews. In one instance, the agent created a personalised database of films to watch, complete with Rotten Tomatoes ratings. In another, it helped maintain a record of cafes visited. These examples highlight how the tool is not limited to corporate use but can also fit into everyday life.

The action was taken in the midst of growing criticism and a lawsuit brought by the family of a 16-year-old who committed suicide, claiming the AI chatbot was responsible for his demise. Under the new precautions, users under the age of eighteen will automatically activate a "teen-friendly" version of ChatGPT. Stricter content filters will be included in this version to block sensitive subjects including self-harm conversations and explicit sexual material. "Safety ahead of privacy and freedom for teens," according to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, is a significant philosophical shift in the company's approach to AI ethics.Highlights of the New Teen Safety Plan: Age Forecast Technology: Based on a user's interaction patterns, OpenAI is creating a system to determine the user's age. Mark Zuckerberg is taking a risk by predicting that smart glasses will be the next significant technological advancement. This week, that vision begins to come to pass.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, will spend his whole presentation at the company's annual developer conference, Meta Connect, in San Francisco on Wednesday, trying to persuade you that the smartphone in your pocket will soon be replaced by smart glasses. You won't have to wait years for that; you might have the future right now. In comparison, Apple's iPhone 17 series, which was revealed last week, appears to be either growing thinner or simply adding more cameras.Although Zuckerberg's idea may not sound compelling at first, Meta sees a chance to not just experiment but also actively pursue a gadget that might eventually replace smartphones when sales of smartphones stagnate. Although they are still a long way from taking the place of smartphones, the popularity of Ray-Ban smart glasses suggests that, given the correct features and price range, they may eventually become a commonplace item in consumers' daily lives. The question is whether Meta will be the first business to make smart glasses widely used, and if so, when.Despite missing out on the smartphone explosion and a botched attempt to transform the internet with the Metaverse, smart glasses have been a bright light in Meta's audacious future wagers.

If family members don't live in the same home, YouTube may disable your Premium features.

YouTube offers a family subscription that allows users to enjoy Premium benefits with up to five additional family members, similar to other well-known OTT platforms. The plan, which costs Rs 299 per month, offers you a number of advantages, like the ability to skip video segments, ad-free video streaming, background play, and Smart Downloads, to mention a few.YouTube has started to take action against Premium Family members who reside at multiple addresses after Netflix's global password-sharing crackdown disappointed fans.A number of users have complained that they received formal emails from YouTube informing them that if members do not reside in the same home as the account manager, their Premium Family memberships will be suspended. According to the warnings, subscribers will only have basic ad-supported access after 14 days, losing their access to ad-free and Premium services. One account holder can share benefits with up to five family members with the YouTube Premium Family plan, which costs ₹299 per month in India ($22.99 in the U.S., £19.99 in the U.K., and AU$22.99 in Australia). These advantages include access to YouTube Music, offline downloads, background play, and ad-free videos. Although it has always been stated in the terms and conditions that family members must live in the same home as the manager, YouTube has not up to now aggressively enforced this requirement. According to recent reports, the corporation is now using direct enforcement to follow up on the computerized checks it regularly performs every 30 days to verify account activity. Many subscribers have expressed frustration with the crackdown, claiming that the "family" package moniker is misleading if access is limited to people who live together. To better align with YouTube's rules, some have proposed changing the name to "Household Plan." Families with members who live apart for job, school, or travel are especially concerned about this development because they might now have to purchase separate subscriptions.

The developer of Battlefield 6 explains why ray-tracing won't be available anytime soon.

Although Battlefield 6's open beta tests have noticeably lacked ray-tracing, it wasn't quite obvious whether this was intentional or simply a result of the game being in beta. As it happens, the latter is the case. The competitive shooter won't use ray-tracing since, although it's a common feature in certain games, the more realistic way it simulates lighting may also be taxing on your PC or console's system resources. While the PC version of Battlefield 6 will have over 600 options in its settings menu, Christian Buhl, studio technical director at Ripple Effect, one of the studios working on the game, told Comicbook that "ray-tracing won’t be one of them and there’s no plans to bring it into the game in the near future.""No, we don't have any plans for ray-tracing anytime soon, and we won't have it when the game launches," Buhl stated. That was due to our desire to concentrate on performance. Our goal was to ensure that every effort was directed toward making the game as [optimized] as feasible for the default users and settings. Although most players will probably forego graphics in order to maintain performance in multiplayer mode, some gamers may be disappointed by this as they had hoped that Battlefield 6's future single-player campaign would feature ray-tracing.We revealed a nine-minute internet leak of Battlefield 6's battle royale mode earlier today. In addition to providing a thorough preview of the mode, this video also discloses a few gameplay features we were unaware of before, such as swimming, one of the devices, and its "massive map."

I did take a selfie with Shah Rukh Khan after experimenting with Google's Nano Banana AI image editing technology.

My LinkedIn feed was overflowing with photos of people taking selfies over the weekend, featuring everyone from Tesla CEO Elon Musk to Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan. One picture looked entirely real, showing an executive from Harvard Business School posing for a selfie with Shah Rukh Khan. But after reading the piece, I learned that Nano Banana, a brand-new image editing model from Google's DeepMind division, was used to generate the image. Following its first release last week, the model was incorporated into Google Gemini.AI-generated photos can already be produced by Google's Gemini, albeit the output hasn't always been the best. The new AI model from the Google DeepMind unit, known as "Nano Banana" but officially named Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, functions similarly to the majority of AI image editing tools: you input an image and specify the modifications you wish to make. The capacity to manage extremely specific adjustments, such as altering a subject's attire or location or including a third party (such as a celebrity) in a selfie, is what distinguishes this approach. Using Google's Nano Banana model is enjoyable. Both a visible and an invisible watermark, known as SynthID, are included in all outputs to assist avoid misunderstandings about whether images are artificial intelligence (AI)-generated or real.Launch Google AI Studio and log in with your Gmail credentials to use Nano Banana to alter an image. Google Gemini is an additional option. When you open it, the words "NEW!" will appear in a banner at the top. Use Nano Banana, our top picture model, to experiment with image modification. Your altered image will be available in a few seconds after you submit an image and write a prompt.I experimented with several image editing scenarios. Taking a selfie with Shah Rukh Khan was the first thing that came to mind. For instance, I wrote the prompt, "A selfie with Shah Rukh Khan," using a recent selfie I shot in China. I received the product in a matter of seconds, and I was astounded by how lifelike it appeared. It was a realistic picture of Shah Rukh Khan and me standing side by side.

OpenAI introduces the first learning accelerator in India and collaborates with IIT Madras and other institutions to assist educators and learners.

The purpose of ChatGPT's Study Mode is to provide extremely high-quality responses related to the Indian curriculum. On the sidelines of the OpenAI Learning Accelerator's inauguration in New Delhi on Monday, August 25, Leah Belsky, VP of Education at OpenAI, told indianexpress.com, "You will see us progress over time in how our models speak to Indian students in local languages and on local teaching."The AI platform announced a new research partnership with IIT Madras as part of the OpenAI Learning Accelerator, an initiative that is first in India. The partnership is supported by $500,000 in funding from OpenAI to carry out long-term studies on how AI can "improve learning outcomes, foster innovative teaching methods, aligned to insights from cognitive neuroscience."OpenAI, directed by Sam Altman, said on Monday that it would give 5 lakh free ChatGPT licenses for a period of six months to educators and students in India's government schools, including K–12 schools, engineering and technical colleges, and government schools from Classes 1–12. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize student education, in our opinion. AI has the potential to be a learning agent and personal instructor for life. During a media event, Leah Belsky, vice-president of Education at OpenAI, stated that AI can help teachers focus more on the essential aspects of teaching. The OpenAI Learning Accelerator, an initiative first in India, will host the program for educators and students. Belsky stated that the company's current focus is on "access and training" and that it is not now seeking to make money from these free ChatGPT licenses. Therefore, the overarching goal is to allow a community of 500,000 users, with an emphasis on educators, to comprehend how they utilize ChatGPT and subsequently reproduce those insights. That is the main goal," she stated in response to a query posed by Business Standard. In partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Ministry of Education (MoE), and educational institutions that are members of the Association for Reinventing School Education (ARISE), ChatGPT licenses will be issued throughout India as part of the program.

Interpol and CERT-In will be enlisted by the center to implement the new gaming prohibition.

The government declared that it would not think twice about using international procedures, such as calling in Interpol, to subjugate offshore money-gaming platform providers and stop their operations. With measures that go beyond India's boundaries, the Center has made it clear that adherence to the recently passed Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 will be vigorously enforced. The government declared that it would not think twice about using international procedures, such as calling in Interpol, to subjugate offshore money-gaming platform operators and shut down their operations. On the fringes of an event, S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), told businessline, "There is a process of Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization), and there is a process in which they can be brought to jurisdiction."Krishnan emphasized that India's technological and cyber-security infrastructure would also be necessary for enforcement. Apps that continue to offer illegal money-gaming services in India will have to be blocked or disabled by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), which is part of MeitY. "CERT-In can come and play its role to shut down those apps under the IT Act, just like it can with any other technical issue," he stated. The government also rejected the argument that the restriction would be rendered useless by virtual private network (VPN) circumvention. "We'll figure out a way (to control them) without the VPN problem either. We must since it's a technological issue," Krishnan continued. The compliance-heavy approach follows what the Centre described as the continuous failure of self-regulation in the gambling industry. The government claims that industry participants acknowledged the inadequacies and lack of legitimacy of self-regulatory organizations. As a result, it was decided to outlaw all real-money games while allowing for social gaming and e-sports. The Act, which was approved by both Houses of Parliament and signed into law by the President on Friday, forbids all types of gaming that involves money while simultaneously encouraging e-sports and online social activities.

GPT-5 Models and Features Leak via GitHub Ahead of Launch

Details about OpenAI’s upcoming GPT-5 models appear to have surfaced early, following a leak on GitHub that briefly exposed internal documentation related to the system’s architecture, features, and deployment timeline.   The files, which were quickly removed after discovery, offered a glimpse into what may be the next phase of OpenAI's generative AI tools. According to the leaked materials, GPT-5 will come in multiple model sizes and is said to improve on memory handling, long-form conversation, and reasoning across text and other inputs.   “The new architecture seems to focus on sustained context and smarter interaction flow,” one developer commented after reviewing the leak. “It’s not just about being bigger—it looks more thoughtful in how it handles conversation and adaptation.”   Among the more notable updates is the possibility of an expanded multimodal system, allowing for more seamless integration of text, images, and possibly even audio in a single interface. Some notes also suggest enhancements in fine-tuning capabilities, giving developers more control over how the models behave in specific applications.   While OpenAI has yet to confirm or deny the authenticity of the documents, the leak has sparked discussion around data security and version control practices. “These kinds of leaks, intentional or not, reflect the public’s growing appetite for transparency around AI development,” said another user who came across the material.   The documents hinted at a potential release window in late 2025, though this is unconfirmed. For now, OpenAI remains quiet, and speculation continues to build around what GPT-5 might ultimately offer—and when.

Trust trap: How millions are being stolen by deepfake video scams

Imagine this: George Clooney himself is sending you video messages every day; they are warm, endearing, and incredibly believable. When a woman in Argentina connected with "Clooney" on Facebook, she thought that. She engaged with him for six weeks, thinking it was the Hollywood star, and was entertained by his friendly, realistic videos. Then one day the pitch arrived: purchase a special card, become a member of a fan club, and have access to rare employment prospects. She deposited over Rs 11 lakh (roughly) because she trusted the Hollywood legend, only to find out—after contacting the FBI—that she had been tricked by an AI-generated deepfake. February 2024: Arup, a global corporation based in Britain, loses $25 million as a result of deepfake fraud. To deceive an employee into making fraudulent wire transfers, fraudsters created a phony videoconference using deepfake technology.

Review of the Xiaomi 15: An alluring small phone with exceptional photos

As I've said many times before, I just adore little smartphones. And no one is happier than you if they have a ton of features. I couldn't stop gushing about the Samsung Galaxy S25's svelte and elegant design in my review. I'm equally enthralled with the new Xiaomi 15, and I think that this year might be the one when the globe pays more attention to the small size. The Xiaomi 15 has been in my possession for a few weeks. I'm in love with the recently released gadget, which costs Rs 64,999. I'll try to explain my experience in this review so you can make an informed choice. Let's examine the Xiaomi 15's performance, design, and cameras to see how it stacks up against other small, high-end Android smartphones. The Xiaomi 15's design incorporates elements of the Xiaomi 14's style. With a weight of slightly less than 200 g, it is in reality a more pleasant form factor than the majority of flagships available on the market. Naturally, I relished the freedom granted by the device's one-handed operation without sacrificing its functionality. Therefore, the best you can hope for if you're looking for a "small" phone in 2025 is something between 6.1 and 6.3 inches. Furthermore, the Xiaomi 15—the company's most recent worldwide release—is the greatest tiny phone. It is more powerful than Google's soon-to-be released Pixel 9a and has a better camera and screen than Samsung's base-model S25 or Apple's iPhone 16 or 16e. However, as has been the case with Xiaomi's recent international launches, the pricing is excessively exorbitant in Europe (€999, or $1,092), but it's quite appealing in Asia (around HK$5,000, or $643, in Hong Kong).
