AI can be a useful tool in the early diagnosis of breast cancer, according to a recent study conducted by experts from the University of Lubeck in Germany. In a significant discovery, scientists from the University of Lubeck in Germany discovered that artificial intelligence (AI) can increase cancer detection rates by almost 17%. The results come from a recent study that included the biggest AI use in breast cancer screenings ever.A total of 4,60,000 women were screened by 119 radiologists for the study.

The radiologists were free to decide whether or not to employ AI. According to the study, radiologists supported by AI were able to detect cancer at a rate of 6.7 per 1,000 tests, a 17.6% increase over conventional readings.Up to 65% of AI-assisted readings for requested biopsies revealed malignancy, compared to 59% without AI. The study also showed that, without sacrificing accuracy, AI enabled 43% faster reading times, which decreased workloads.
