How to remedy the five typical foods that may prevent your body from absorbing vitamin D

How to remedy the five typical foods that may prevent your body from absorbing vitamin D

Immune system performance, bone health, and general well-being all depend on getting adequate vitamin D. While sunshine exposure and supplements might assist, many everyday meals may actually interfere with your body’s absorption of this vital mineral. Understanding these relationships can make a substantial difference in maintaining optimal vitamin D levels. Even a diet high in vitamin D or appropriate supplementation may not be as beneficial if we eat foods that prevent the absorption of the nutrient. Many people are unaware that their intake of vitamin D isn't being properly utilized by their body because of factors like fat content, specific minerals, or compounds in certain meals that can lower its bioavailability. To find out which five frequent foods might hinder the absorption of vitamin D and the mechanism underlying their effects, we consulted with an expert.According to Ashlesha Joshi, a nutritionist and fitness dietitian at Tone 30 Pilates, "some foods can affect how efficiently the body absorbs or uses vitamin D," as reported by indianexpress.com. The most prominent of these are foods that include phytates, like whole grains and legumes, which can bind to minerals and vitamin D and hinder absorption. Caffeine from tea or coffee in excess can also cause problems by lowering the expression of vitamin D receptors in the intestines. Regular alcohol consumption damages liver function, which is necessary for the conversion of vitamin D into its active form. Trans fats and hydrogenated oils included in processed foods might hinder the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, such as vitamin D. Finally, because vitamin D is fat-soluble and needs dietary lipids for effective uptake, particularly high-fibre diets, while generally healthy, might occasionally limit absorption efficiency.According to Joshi, "since vitamin D is fat-soluble, combining it with good fats can greatly enhance absorption." For example, eating foods high in vitamin D, such as salmon, eggs, or fortified cereals, together with foods high in healthy fats, like avocado, olive oil, or almonds, can improve absorption. Consuming foods high in vitamin K2, such as fermented soy or cheese, also aids in calcium metabolism and complements vitamin D. She adds that timing is also important, saying that consuming vitamin D-fortified meals or pills after your main meal of the day, when fat intake is highest, helps maximize absorption. Regular exposure to the sun, even for a short while each day, naturally raises vitamin D levels even more.

Try these pain-relieving at-home back exercises on World Spine Day.

Try these pain-relieving at-home back exercises on World Spine Day.

Back pain is one of the most prevalent health issues in today's world, impacting professionals, homemakers, students, and even young children. The main causes of back discomfort include poor posture, extended sitting, and irregular activity. However, with the right workouts and proper posture, coupled with a few easy adjustments to our everyday routines, back discomfort can be greatly decreased. Maintaining normal alignment of the bones and joints, preventing weariness, and lessening the load on muscles and ligaments are all made possible by good posture. Conversely, bad posture can cause stiffness and muscle imbalances, which can ultimately lead to persistent back discomfort. Improving posture is important for maintaining spinal health for many years to come, according to Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan, Consultant-Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon, KIMSHEALTH Trivandrum. The health of your posture and spine are extremely important to your body. If left untreated, back discomfort can impair general quality of life, limit mobility, and lower productivity. Most people may avoid or lessen back pain without medicine if they are attentive, disciplined, and follow easy corrective measures, he said.

Reversing prediabetes without losing weight: How dietary modifications, fat distribution, and glucose management reduce the risk of diabetes by 70%

Reversing prediabetes without losing weight: How dietary modifications, fat distribution, and glucose management reduce the risk of diabetes by 70%

More than one in three persons in the US have prediabetes, which is characterized by high blood sugar levels that are not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. About 70% of people with prediabetes may develop type 2 diabetes if their condition is not controlled, which raises their risk of consequences like kidney damage, neurological issues, and heart disease. Reversing prediabetes has typically involved losing weight with medication, diet, or exercise. Recent studies, however, suggest a paradigm shift: enhancing insulin sensitivity and glucose management might be more important than simply losing weight. Lifestyle changes that focus on food, exercise, and fat distribution can result in remission and significantly reduce the long-term risk of type 2 diabetes.According to a recent study by German researchers at University Hospital Tübingen that was published in Nature Medicine, prediabetes can be corrected without weight loss. After a year of lifestyle changes, participants who were able to achieve normal blood glucose regulation but did not lose a considerable amount of weight had a 70% lower chance of acquiring type 2 diabetes over the course of five years than those who were unable to achieve remission. Whole grains, fruits, non-starchy vegetables, and legumes are good sources of carbs, whereas meals high in healthy fats include fatty fish, seeds, nuts, and olive oil. Normalizing blood glucose levels also requires controlling stress and getting enough sleep. In the US, prediabetes, characterized by high blood sugar that is not yet diagnosed as diabetes, affects more than one in three persons. In addition to concerns like heart disease, renal issues, and nerve damage, type 2 diabetes eventually develops in about 70% of people with prediabetes if left untreated. Reversing prediabetes has typically involved losing weight with medication, diet, or exercise.A recent study that was published in Nature Medicine indicates that prediabetes can be corrected without weight loss, according to a Morning News Today story. After a year of lifestyle interventions, participants who did not lose weight but achieved normal blood glucose regulation had a 70% lower risk of type 2 diabetes over the next five years than those who did not achieve remission, according to research from the University Hospital Tübingen in Germany."A lifestyle intervention can bring prediabetes into remission, meaning back to normal glucose values, even without weight loss, and this remission cuts future type 2 diabetes risk by approximately 70% over up to 10 years," co-author Dr. Andreas Birkenfeld told Medical News Today.

Which of the three magnificent cats would most likely prevail in a fight involving tigers, leopards, and lions?

Which of the three magnificent cats would most likely prevail in a fight involving tigers, leopards, and lions?

Big cats, from the sprawling African savannahs to the center of deep Asian jungles, captivate our collective imagination, especially when they are included in fictitious fights. In a conflict between a tiger, a leopard, or a lion, who would win? Let's examine the information. When it comes to sheer muscle and mass, tigers have the advantage. The largest of the great cats, male tigers can weigh up to 600 pounds or more. Although they usually weigh a little less, lions' stocky bodies nevertheless contain a lot of strength. Further investigation reveals that adult male tigers weigh 400–670 pounds, while male lions weigh 331–550 pounds. These parameters are validated by first-hand reports from animal observers: Even the greatest African lions are frequently greatly outnumbered by Bengal and Siberian tigers.Instead of speculating about who would prevail in a battle, we would much rather people focus their mental energies on preserving these amazing kitties. But because it's a frequently asked question, let's get started. The quick answer is that it depends on a variety of characteristics, including temperament, age, and size. Nonetheless, tigers typically have the upper hand. Tigers have an advantage in warfare since they are not only typically larger but also better at fighting when standing on their hind legs. Although there is much disagreement over the efficacy of this, some think that a lion's mane may offer some neck protection. When tigers and lions faced up in the Roman Coliseum, according to ancient legend, the tigers typically prevailed. Fortunately, though, those savage days are long gone. The likelihood of a tiger and lion encountering in the wild is nearly nonexistent nowadays. Lions are primarily located in Africa, with a small population surviving in a small area of India, whereas tigers traverse Asia. A tight affinity between these two species was shown at Big Cat Rescue between Cameron, a male lion, and Zabu, a white tiger. They were saved from a breeding environment that aimed to create ligers, a hybrid that we most definitely do not support. Although their humorous exchanges may have seemed like a quarrel, rest assured that it was all in good humor. And just so you know, we like to assume Zabu would have had the advantage.

The Best-Selling Author Explains Why French Women "Don't Get Fat" Even When They Eat A Lot of Butter and Chocolate

Have you ever noticed that French people, especially women, stay in shape despite their not-so-healthy food preferences? From bread and cheese to wine and dessert, they seem to enjoy cuisines that are generally seen as a sure-shot route to gaining weight. Yet, they rarely appear overweight. Bestselling French-American author Mireille Guiliano, best known for the 2004 book French Women Don't Get Fat, once spoke about the reason behind French women staying in shape in an interview. Have you ever seen that French people, particularly women, maintain their physical fitness in spite of their unhealthy eating habits? They appear to like foods that are typically thought of as a surefire way to put on weight, from bread and cheese to wine and dessert. They hardly ever seem overweight, though. In an interview, Mireille Guiliano, a top-selling French-American author best known for her 2004 book French Women Don't Get Fat, discussed why French women maintain their fitness."Because they eat for pleasure and they eat with their five senses," the author said in response to the host's question on why French ladies don't get fat. The author merely said, "No," when the interviewer inquired as to whether French ladies track calories.Mireille Guiliano went on to explain, "We eat slowly. We take our time. In between bites, we set down our knife and fork. Actually, it does this by ensuring that your taste senses are satisfied after a few bites if you eat calmly and without stress. Therefore, you don't need to eat a lot. We dislike foods that are low in fat and sugar because they don't taste good."Butter is not something that's bad for you," Mireille Guiliano continued, highlighting the importance of eating in the proper proportions. There are no health risks associated with chocolate. Duck fat is not unhealthy, but only if consumed three times a day and in large quantities, as is the case in many nations.

A dermatologist advises against using tainted mehendi since it may result in pigmentation, blistering, and allergic reaction. We confirm

Frequently seen as a sign of happiness and custom at Indian festivities, henna might not be as innocuous as most people believe. Dermatologist Dr. (Major) Gurveen Waraich, MBBS, MD, claims that the usage of tainted mehendi is growing and causing negative side effects. She issued the following warning in a recent Instagram video: "Are you certain you're using the actual one and it's not the contaminated version? The essential element of Indian celebrations, henna, is regrettably no longer henna. There is a lot of adulteration, blistering, allergic reactions, and discoloration. Every season, we witness several cases.Because tainted "black henna" includes para-phenylenediamine (PPD), a chemical that can result in severe allergic responses, blistering, itching, scarring, and long-term skin damage, dermatologists advise against using it. Henna laced with PPD can cause lifetime sensitivity, increasing a person's vulnerability to responses from other PPD-containing products, like hair dyes. Dermatologists recommend adopting natural, reddish-brown henna free of chemical additives instead of "black henna" for safety.

Nine animals that are masters at tricking the other species around them

Nine animals that are masters at tricking the other species around them

There are other aspects of the animal kingdom than power, speed, and keen teeth. Being a good liar is often the only talent necessary for survival.Nature is full of skilled con artists, from spiders that fill the air with false promises to birds that deceive others into raising their young. Despite their seeming cruelty, these tactics are the result of evolution. Trickery ensures the survival of the next generation, saves energy, and enhances survival. The saying "fake it 'til you make it" may be familiar to you. However, this statement was used by the master mimics of our natural world long before it became a common self-help cliche. Animals and insects have developed clever strategies to live by mimicking the noises, appearances, or behaviors of other species in their environment, whether it's to elude predators or attract prey. This American native wild cat was found to use "psychological cunning" to lure prey. It was discovered that the tree ocelot, also called the margay, was mimicking the call of a young pied tamarin monkey. Yes, you read correctly. This untamed feline mimics a monkey. In a clever move to draw in adult monkeys grazing nearby, researchers from the Wildlife Conservation Society and UFAM (Federal University of Amazonas) in Brazil saw a tree ocelot mimic the squeal of the newborn monkeys. The tree ocelot uses this type of "aggressive" mimicry, or imitation,2 in an attempt to capture adult monkeys within striking distance. Sadly, as experts have noted, the fictitious squeals in this case were unsuccessful. Adult monkeys in the area were drawn to the phony calls, but the trick was soon discovered. Then, before the cat could jump, the pied tamarin monkeys alerted the others to go. I wish you luck.

When you take paracetamol for a fever on an empty stomach, this is what happens to your body.

When you take paracetamol for a fever on an empty stomach, this is what happens to your body.

For even the simplest problems, we Indians rely on paracetamol a bit too much. It is readily available and reasonably priced at a pharmacy. However, there are hazards associated with taking too much paracetamol.According to Dr. Kapil Adwani, PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, "because paracetamol is available over-the-counter, people tend to think it's completely harmless." However, the body remembers. Frequent consumption can strain the kidneys, cause hidden liver damage, and possibly alter blood pressure. We frequently attempt self-medication by using medications to address our issues. However, doing so may harm our bodies in the long run. After speaking with the health expert, Indianexpress.com learned what occurs if you take paracetamol during a fever on an empty stomach:Since its absorption into the system is accelerated when food is not present, taking paracetamol for a fever on an empty stomach is generally thought to be safe and may produce faster symptom alleviation. Even though the liver is primarily responsible for processing paracetamol, taking it on an empty stomach does not increase the risk of liver strain when taken as prescribed and does not cause the gastrointestinal irritation that is sometimes linked to NSAIDs like ibuprofen, he clarified.Dr. Adwani claims that many health organizations and medical professionals, including the NHS in the UK, support taking paracetamol on an empty stomach because of its gentle effect on the stomach lining and the benefit of quickly reducing fever and pain in emergency situations. However, he cautioned that those who are prone to nausea may choose to take it with food for comfort.

Why is protein all over the place now?

Why is protein all over the place now?

During a recent trip to the grocery store, I noticed something strange. The word "protein" appeared to be shouted from every aisle. Chips boasted about it, biscuits promised it, and even bottled water said it had it. The same thing happens when you scroll through Instagram: endless loops of protein bowls, coffees, and pancakes. A once-quiet vitamin on the food pyramid has somehow evolved into a lifestyle statement. The figures support it as well. According to Fortune, the global market for protein supplements is worth over $25 billion and is expected to expand by around 8% annually. Seven out of ten Indians are not getting enough protein each day, according to surveys conducted by the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which is part of the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), in a country where traditional diets are frequently high in carbohydrates. However, in metropolitan areas, protein has emerged as the health guru, touted as the solution to everything from improved skin to weight loss.LUSE BRITTANY, BYLINE: The present fixation on protein in our culture has been on my mind a lot lately. Many Americans are looking for ways to increase their protein intake, even though many academics and doctors believe that most Americans currently get more than enough protein each day. Protein is currently being promoted on ice cream pints, candy bars, and pancake mixes. When you give it some serious thought, it's kind of annoying. SUMMERS: In a recent episode of It's Been A Minute, Brittany studied and investigated this phenomena. The NPR podcast explores some of the most significant cultural events and explains the significance of these trends. Brittany gave me further details on why it seems like so many brands and people are promoting this macronutrient these days.LUSE: Alright, so protein is undoubtedly emphasized as a way to lose weight and build muscle, so it's now well-liked by almost everyone wishing to alter their body composition. However, there are two additional fascinating cultural developments surrounding protein. First, Samantha Maxwell, a food writer, pointed out that protein is one of the only macronutrients that hasn't been maligned. Consider fat or carbohydrates, for example. You go back to the Atkins low-carb fad of the 2000s or the low-fat diets of the 1990s. However, protein has never really had a "bad reputation."

My life has not always been a bed of roses How accepting sorrow allows us to move on, as demonstrated by Anant Ambani's moving remark that brought Mukesh Ambani to tears

Among the opulence of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's lavish pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar, Gujarat, last year, one poignant moment stuck out.In addition to being a star-studded event with international VVIP guests arriving in Jamnagar, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding celebrations are a celebration of emotions, family, love, and traditions. Anant Ambani is a man of emotions, and it wouldn't be incorrect to say that humble is his middle name, as demonstrated in the video that is presently going viral on the Internet. This was made very clear on Day 1 of the festivities on Friday night. Anant Ambani praised his parents, Mukesh and Nita Ambani, in a heartfelt address, giving them credit for everything that he is today.Fiancée Radhika Merchant, daughter of Encore Healthcare CEO Viren Merchant, joined Anant Ambani on stage as he was giving his speech. He began by saying, "Thank You, mom, for everything you've done," in reference to organizing the lavish three-day festivities in Jamnagar, Gujarat. My mother is the only one who created all of this. My mother has put in a lot of work; I believe she has been working 18–19 hours a day. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my mother. For making the occasion special for him and his soon-to-be wife, Radhika, Anant continues by thanking his father, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, his siblings, and their wives. In keeping with his grounded manner, Anant also expressed regret to his guests for any inconvenience they may have experienced. "I know everyone has come to Jamnagar to make Radhika and I feel special," he remarked. Having all of you here makes us feel honored and humbled. I apologize to anyone we may have inconvenienced. As the soon-to-be groom talked about the challenges he experienced because of health issues and how his parents encouraged him to outgrow them, it was an emotional moment for both Anant and Mukesh Ambani. "As many of you are aware, my life has not always been a bed of roses," Anant stated. The pain of thorns is something I have also felt. Since I was a child, I have experienced numerous health crises, yet my parents have never allowed me to feel like I have suffered. They have supported me, and my parents gave me the impression that if I can think, I can achieve anything. My gratitude will never fade.

Greetings, blonde: Kate Middleton makes a daring new appearance

The 43-year-old confirmed her long-rumored hair makeover in August by joining Prince William at London's Natural History Museum for their first joint engagement since the summer break.Middleton lightened her characteristic hair to a golden, sun-kissed tint after announcing in January that she is in remission from her cancer diagnosis. Because there is still some brown base present, it can alternatively be referred to as light bronde (brown + blonde). Her hair now reaches the middle of her back in flowing waves with a side part, giving her the longest and brightest look to date. Her sophisticated style is enhanced by the summertime glow created by the honey and gold tones woven through her chestnut base. When Kate appeared at Wimbledon in mid-July, she was still wearing her heavier chestnut color. Given her preference for sophisticated, traditional fashion and elegance, the new color is unexpected and a dramatic change from her typical appearance. She wore a stylish Ralph Lauren tweed jacket, dark green pants, and a white button-down shirt for this outing. Pretty Ballerinas tassel loafers completed the ensemble. She accessorized with a Daniella Draper alphabet necklace etched with her children's initials, pear-drop earrings, and her sapphire engagement ring. Even though the blond color is trending, Kate has always experimented with her hairstyle. She has experimented with highlights, curtain bangs, and layers throughout the years. She even wore a lighter shade of brown in September 2019, however it wasn't as pale as it is now. Her return to "normal life after treatment" also includes her new hair color. Going back to normal life is difficult, she told patients during a July visit to a hospital in Essex: "You have to find your new normal and that takes time."Online responses to her hair makeover, however, have been conflicting. Some thought the style didn't fit her, while others questioned whether she was wearing a wig. However, a lot of people expressed their admiration for the transformation and saw her new hair as a sign of a new beginning following her fight with illness.

After working out, Malaika Arora prefers this

After working out, Malaika Arora prefers this "natural" protein shake because she doesn't "really believe in any powders and stuff."

Many people use protein powders and supplements to satisfy their post-workout nutritional and fitness needs. Malaika Arora, however, adopts a different strategy. After working out, she would rather go home and eat a healthy breakfast. She stated that she usually eats straightforward, home-cooked foods like toast, eggs, or dosas after working out rather than expensive protein shakes or prepackaged supplements in an interview with Soha Ali Khan, in which she costarred with celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar. "I'll eat a homemade protein smoothie, which is a necessary protein. Put everything in a blender and enjoy—it might be dates, bananas, or nuts. You know, I'm not really a fan of powders and such.

A dermatologist outlines four methods for differentiating between psoriasis of the scalp and dandruff: From discomfort to inflammation

A dermatologist outlines four methods for differentiating between psoriasis of the scalp and dandruff: From discomfort to inflammation

Dr. Priyanka Kuri explained how to differentiate between psoriasis and dandruff so that we can get medical attention right away. This is what you should know.A more serious condition like psoriasis may be indicated by persistent or severe symptoms of dandruff, which can create an itchy, flaky scalp and even fall on your shoulders. "Scalp and hair irritation and flakes are often dismissed as common dandruff, but a more severe condition could be afoot," Dr. Priyanka Kuri, dermatology consultant at Aster Whitefield Hospital in Bengaluru, stated in an interview with HT Lifestyle. In its early stages, scalp psoriasis, a chronic immunological disorder, may not be readily noticeable and resembles dandruff. Many people put off getting treatment for psoriasis because they mistake it for dandruff. In contrast to dandruff, scalp psoriasis can spread to other parts of the body, including the forehead, neck, or immediately behind the ears, the doctor continued. Here are several methods for differentiating between the conditions:1. Type and texture of flakes: Psoriasis flakes are extremely thick, dry, and seem silvery, whereas dandruff flakes are often light, greasy, and white in color. 2. Redness or inflammation: Unlike dandruff, scalp psoriasis frequently manifests as a red or swollen patch that stretches past the hairline. 3. Persistent itching or discomfort: Both scalp dandruff and scalp psoriasis cause itching, but the psoriasis variation will typically be far more severe in uncomfortable or painful situations.4. Dryness and cracking: People with psoriasis may experience extremely dry scalps and develop potentially bleeding cracks. "If you have psoriasis, dandruff shampoos are not going to help you, and trying to treat this on your own is important to avoid a worse flare," Dr. Priyanka Kuri said, stressing the importance of seeing a dermatologist as soon as possible. You ought to get help as soon as you can.

Is PCOS inherited or a result of lifestyle choices?

Is PCOS inherited or a result of lifestyle choices?

Ask any group of young women today, and it's likely that many of them have heard of or dealt with PCOS, or polycystic ovarian syndrome. Despite its widespread occurrence, there is still uncertainty over its true nature, how it differs from PCOD, and if it is inherited or caused by lifestyle choices. A hormonal condition known as PCOS occurs when the ovaries create more androgens, or "male hormones," than is typical. Ovulation is disturbed, which results in infertility, weight gain, acne, irregular periods, and excessive hair growth. However, PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) is a little different. Cysts are caused by the ovaries releasing a large number of immature or partially developed eggs in PCOD. Although the two disorders have similar names, PCOS is more dangerous since it affects the entire body and is a metabolic and hormonal disorder, whereas PCOD is confined to the ovaries and is typically easier to treat. It is not a straightforward "either-or," according to Dr. Nidhi Sharma Chauhan, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Saifee Hospital in Mumbai. Both lifestyle and genetics are involved. There appears to be a hereditary component to PCOS. According to research, excessive levels of androgens or environmental contaminants during pregnancy increase the risk of PCOS in the developing fetus. Additionally, it can run in families, and some populations, like Asians, have a higher propensity for it, she notes. This does not imply that PCOS will develop in all individuals with a genetic connection. Dr. Chauhan explains that not everyone who has a hereditary risk to PCOS will get it. Lifestyle is really important. The illness can be triggered by factors such as weight increase, long-term stress, sleep deprivation, physical inactivity, and improper eating habits. There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to PCOS. Some women suffer from infertility and irregular periods, while others have metabolic issues like weight gain and insulin resistance. Some women have all of these symptoms at once. There are several different types of PCOS. According to Dr. Chauhan, "some people may have the full spectrum, while others may have only one or two symptoms." This complicates diagnosis and necessitates a customized treatment strategy. Awareness is crucial because PCOS affects women in very different ways than illnesses with a distinct set of symptoms.

Adhyayan Suman talks on showing emotion and being vulnerable: "I can demonstrate my manliness in a variety of ways."

Since there are numerous other ways to show "manliness," Adhyayan Suman recently discussed being open and vulnerable with a partner. "To me, a loving embrace is everything. As if someone spends the entire night sleeping on my chest and sharing her feelings with me.Have you experienced occasions where you are talking to somebody, saying, Thank you for being there in my life…I love you…And cry as you're doing that? My eyes well up with tears. I experience it frequently," Adhyayan, 37, added. The actor from Heeramandi went on to say that he learned to accept his feelings through a romance "which I felt strongly about." "I'm crying as I'm speaking. It seemed so instinctive to me. the idea that one must be with someone. I believe it's acceptable to be vulnerable with your partner and to not put on a front or screen. I'm a man? Can't I cry? Is crying not acceptable? There are several additional ways I can demonstrate my manliness. Being a guy means supporting that individual. He told Hauterrfly, "If I make you feel like the queen at a party with 100 women, that's being a man."According to Drisha Dey, a consultant psychologist in Kolkata, sobbing is the body's natural way of letting go of suppressed feelings and shouldn't be gender-specific.Because it undermines their masculinity, men are taught from an early age that crying for any reason is a sign of weakness. Because such fervent devotion to their sports team is a show of manhood, it is only appropriate to do so when their team loses. Maintaining one's neurological system is a natural act. Without it, men experience the same sense of loneliness as women when they experience life's low points, according to Dey.

Here's why, in my opinion as a doctor, people who appear fit in gyms end up collapsing.

The heart has always been more than just a medical organ to me; it is a lifelong companion. I understand its intricacies as a cardiac surgeon, but I also sense its vulnerability as a person. Every day, my heart serves as a reminder of our fragility and our shared obligation to care for what sustains us.Cardiovascular illnesses, which cause nearly 27% of fatalities in India and disproportionately affect the younger population, are silently pernicious. The fact that India has disproportionately high death rates and that we get heart attacks five to ten years earlier, frequently without warning, is concerning. Numerous variables, including high blood pressure, early onset diabetes, diets high in saturated or trans fats, rising rates of obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and even environmental risks like air and water pollution.A concerning picture is painted by recent data, which forecasts a 12.5% increase in heart attack-related mortality between 2021 and 2022, a 50% increase in the usage of cardiac medications during a 5-year period, and nearly one in three persons suffering from undetected hypertension, of whom only 20% have it under control.
