Court relief for Byju’s in TLB lenders’ suit

Court relief for Byju’s in TLB lenders’ suit

Byju’s won a legal reprieve on Monday when a civil court in Bengaluru declined to grant a plea by its lenders challenging Manipal Group Chairman Ranjan Pai’s acquisition of a 40% stake in the embattled edtech firm’s subsidiary Aakash Institute, two people aware of the development said.  The lenders of Byju’s $1.2 billion term loan had moved the city court last Thursday seeking an ex-parte injunction on the transaction allowing Pai to convert a loan of about $250-$300 million he had advanced to the brick-and-mortar coaching network into equity in Aakash Institute. Thursday’s legal challenge by the TLB lenders caught both Byju’s and Pai “by surprise” the sources said. The lenders were petitioning the court about Pai's conversion of debt into equity at a lower valuation of $600 million compared to the valuation of $950 million ascribed to Aakash Institute when it was acquired by Byju’s parent Think & Learn in 2021. As such, the proposed deal hurts the lenders of Think & Learn, the lenders contended. This lender group controls 80% of the term loan raised by Byju's in November 2021.  According to people present at the hearing on Monday, the court did not grant the injunction to block the deal as per the lenders' plea while also adding that the jurisdiction for the case was not correct. The lenders had cited the credit agreement which they said bars Byju’s parent Think & Learn from selling any asset without prior approval from the lenders, the sources said. Byju’s made its arguments over the weekend at the city civil court, they added.

CBSE Boards: Class 10 Science Exam Marking Schedule and Study Guide

The board exams for classes 10 and 12 of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are scheduled to begin on February 15, 2024. Class 12 boards will expire on April 2, 2024, and class 10 boards on March 13. Students planning to sit for the boards can review past years' question papers by going to the CBSE's official website. For exam success, students taking the Science board exam in class 10 can adhere to the preparation plan listed below. The most current CBSE sample papers, according to Kalpana Gangaramani, Founder and Managing Director of Target Publications Pvt. Ltd, indicate that competency-based questions frequently rely on basic ideas. In order to tackle these questions, students need to have a firm grasp of the underlying ideas. Nonetheless, certain competency-based inquiries might necessitate that students go beyond fundamental ideas. Students must focus intently on the details when answering questions with charts and diagrams." Unit-by-unit planning approach In the CBSE Board exam, Unit 1 Chemical Substances: Nature and Behavior carries a weightage of 25 marks. Questions from chapter 1 on identifying the type of reaction and products formed are asked based on the examination of previous year's papers and sample papers, according to Ms. Gangaramani. "In chapter 2, students must learn about properties of acids, important reactions of acids, neutralisation and concept of weak acids and weak bases, changes in value of pH and physical and chemical properties of metals, reactivity series particularly displacement reactions, formation of ionic compounds." Subjects pertaining to metal extraction, including crucial procedures like calcination and roasting, are also crucial. Students need to understand how some compounds, like Al, are refined. The expert points out that Unit 2: World of Living carries a weightage of 25 marks as well. "Chapter 5: Life Process contains questions about human transportation, respiration, and nutrition (plants). Pupils need to practice drawing the diagrams from this chapter as well. According to Ms. Gangaramani, "the CBSE question paper emphasizes topics like hormones and their functions, the nervous system in animals, including reflex actions, reproduction, and heredity."   Natural Phenomena, Unit 3, is worth twelve marks. Ms. Gangaramani claims that the questions in this unit's Chapter 9 center on image formation and ray diagrams. She counsels the pupils to become familiar with the relevant formulas and how to use them. The questions arising from these concepts are both theoretical and numerical, so they must sincerely study how the human eye functions, defects, and how to correct them. "The effects of current in Unit 4 are assigned a weight of 13 marks. Since students are likely to have questions about every section of the chapter, it is imperative that all of the concepts from the Electricity chapter be given equal weight during revision, according to Ms. Gangaramani. Understanding the effects of force and magnetic field on the conductor is crucial for understanding chapter 12. In Section A of the papers, these ideas are given more weight.  Unit 5: Natural Resources contains questions from the Environment chapter, with a mark weight of five. Pupils need to be familiar with the ideas of the ozone layer, food webs, food chains, and ecosystems. Ms. Gangaramani notes that questions from this chapter are typically given 1 or 2 marks.

Understand Kathak Fundamentals Learn a Little About Gharanas and Mudras in Kathak

Mudras and Gharanas in Kathak Dance Form Style: There are eight Indian classical dance forms: Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Sattriya, Kathakali, Manipuri, and Bharatanatyam. Of all these styles, Kathak is the most widely known. The Sanskrit words Katha, which means "story," and Kathakar, which means "the one who tells a story" or "to do with stories," are the roots of the word Kathak. Similar to how Kathak originated, it is said to have come from itinerant storytellers called Kathakars in ancient northern India. The core of the Kathak dance style is synchronized footwork to music, ornamented with Ghungroo. The story is conveyed by upper body movement, facial emotions, bends, and most often, turns, with the legs and torso positioned normally straight. But the dance becomes mostly about the eyes and the footwork. One of India's eight classical dances is Kathak. Uttar Pradesh's traditional dance is called kathak. It can be traced back to Brajbhuoomi's Ras Leela. The Sanskrit term "Kathakar," which meaning a storyteller, is whence the word "Kathak" originates. There, a male storyteller was called "Kathakar" while a lady storyteller was called "Kathika." Formerly, the Kathaks were a caste of storytellers who embellished their performances with gestures and music while giving performances in temples in north India. We will talk about the development of Kathak dance since its inception in this article. For the UPSC test, we will also gain insight into its key characteristics, the famous Kathak dancers and their costumes, the musical instruments utilized in the dance, and the dancers themselves. What is the Kathak? One of the eight main classical dance styles of India is Kathak, and it originated in Uttar Pradesh. Its beginnings are connected to the legendary Kathakars, or storytellers, of ancient northern India. In Sanskrit, "Katha" means "story," and "Kathakar" means "the one who tells a story" or "related to stories." This is how the word "Kathak" was generated. Traveling Kathakars used dance, songs, and music to tell tales from epics and ancient mythology. Kathak dancers use their hands, deft footwork, supple bodies, and—above all—their facial expressions to tell stories.

Been Moving Mountains

Been Moving Mountains": The Founder of BYJU Sends Staff an Email Concerning Delayed Salary

Despite rumors that the ed-tech company would postpone paying its employees for the month, BYJU's has now paid their salaries for January. Byju Raveendran, the founder, thanked his staff in an email, saying he had to "move mountains" in order to make the payroll. Once valued at $22 billion, the company was thrown into a severe financial crisis when it was founded in 2011 and began to face lawsuits from lenders and accusations of violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).   Despite having been told they might not get paid until Monday, Mr. Raveendran told his staff that the January salaries have already been paid.I am aware that you were informed that your pay would be received by Monday. Many of you wrote to me saying that you understood what I was going through and that you wouldn't mind waiting even longer. However, you were not required to wait until Monday," he stated.   Payroll expenses account for almost ₹ 70 crore of BYJU's monthly expenditure, as reported by Moneycontrol.   "I have been moving mountains for months to make payroll, and this time, the struggle was even bigger to ensure that you receive what you rightfully deserve," he stated.   He also expressed gratitude to his staff members who persevered and kept working for the business in spite of difficulties.Everyone is a little worn out from this battle, everyone has had to make sacrifices, and everyone has struggled with decisions they never wanted to make, but nobody has given up. This is a result of our pride in the creations we have made. We know we've had enough when we have self-respect," Mr. Raveendran declared.   Lenders from abroad have filed lawsuits against BYJU due to its missed payment deadlines. Even more, its Alpha unit filed for bankruptcy following the lenders' filing of an insolvency petition in a US court. In addition, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting raids due to claims of FEMA violations, which has caused multiple resignations from the organization.   You can only listen to the newest music on JioSaavn.com. At $250 million, its most recent valuation is less than its peak worth Earlier this month, BYJU's resisted a resolution put forth by its shareholders to remove its founders from the board, arguing that the investors lacked the ability to cast votes to alter the company's top management.

The Centers interim budget reduces money for education and UGC by 61%.

The Centers interim budget reduces money for education and UGC by 61%.

India's interim budget for education has been cut by 7%, with a 61% reduction in funding for the UGC.In contrast to the revised projection amount for 2023–24, the interim budget announced on Thursday allotted ₹1.2 lakh crore for education, a decline of approximately 7%. However, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had its funding cut by 61%, the biggest reduction in at least five years. The Union government has allocated ₹73,008.10 crore for schools out of the total outlay, a slight rise of 0.73% from the revised estimate for 2023–2024, according to the budget paper. Higher education has been allocated ₹47,619.77 crore, a severe decrease of ₹9,600 crore (16.8%).The Union Ministry of Education, however, asserted that a 19.5% increase in the budget for school education was necessary because the finance ministry's budget paper did not match the overall updated estimate."It now includes the updated figures that were previously referenced in the budget document. But it ought to be computed without it, according to a senior government official. At the time this report was submitted, the budget paper had not been altered.Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized during her budget speech that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will be used by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government to transform education. She also stated that the focus will be on empowering the "Amrit Peedhi," or the generation that will grow during Amrit Kaal, or the 25 years leading up to 2047.The youth's proper empowerment and education are essential to our prosperity. Revolutionary changes are being ushered in by the National Education Policy 2020. In a 58-minute lecture, she stated, "PM Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) are delivering quality teaching and nurturing holistic and well-rounded individuals."Funding for UGC was, however, drastically reduced. A revised estimate of ₹6,409 crore in 2023–24 was the amount allotted; this was reduced to ₹2,500 crore in 2024–25.Concerns were expressed by experts about the UGC budget cut. Assistant professor Rajesh Jha of Delhi University stated, "Grants was eliminated and reduced to a mere regulatory agency due to the drastic cut in UGC funding." Universities will be further encouraged to launch more self-financed courses as a result, adding to the load already placed on students. Additionally, it will increase institutions' reliance on HEFA (Higher Education Financing Agency) loans. The reduction has occurred at a time when institutions are planning to introduce four-year programs and would require extra funding to accommodate more students at a time, according to Abha Dev Habib, an associate professor of mathematics at Miranda House College of Delhi University. What will the universities do? She said, "The government ought to take this into account. In a statement, UGC Chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar stated that the commission is still dedicated to upholding its primary responsibility of promoting high-quality higher education. "It will persist in collaborating with all relevant parties to guarantee the effective utilization of allotted finances." He expressed confidence that the allocation of resources strategically and the transformative vision of NEP 2020 will result in the establishment of a learner-centric higher education system in India.

He explained the incident by saying the man was his apprentice.Speaking candidly, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan discussed a recently circulated video in which he was seen striking Naveed Hasnain with a shoe. Speaking with Adeel Asif on his podcast, the Pakistani artist expressed his regret to Naveed, referring to him as his "protege" or "shagird." He had already addressed the issue after receiving backlash on social media for supposedly physically torturing his protégé.Rahat apologized to Adeel for the incident and said, "I did apologize to him." Saying, "Ustaad ji (Sir), why are you doing this?" he broke down in tears. "Jaise role hota hai, baap ka," remarked the 49-year-old. Shagird ki jarurat hai baap hone ki baap. Since it concerns my spiritual guide, it is a very serious problem for me.Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, identifying the man as his pupil, was shown on the video striking and slapping him. "Where is my bottle?" he continued asking him. Rahat then referred to the event as a "internal matter" involving a boss and his worker. We give our proteges a lot of praise when they perform well, and we penalize them when they make mistakes.
