Women leaders on vulnerability, strength, and structural changes in "Authentic Ascent"

An interesting panel discussion on the topic of "The Authentic Ascent: Leading with Vulnerability and Strength" took place at the 6th edition of the Women Disruptors Summit & Awards 2025. Industry pioneers gathered to talk about systemic changes that enable women in leadership positions in addition to their own personal journeys.Pritha Mitra Dasgupta, Chief Marketing Officer of Havas India, presided over the meeting, and panelists included: Kinnari Dave, Shemaroo Entertainment's Business Head for ShemarooMe Prachi Bali, Head of Saatchi Propagate and EVP Shwetal Basu, Polycab India's Senior Vice President and Head of Brand & Marketing"We are no longer applauding leaders who never flinch," said Pritha Mitra Dasgupta, who opened the conversation by saying .that the days of leaders who stood like rock without flinching were long gone. In actuality, we are admiring those who possess the capacity for tenderness, resilience, empathy, and ambition. She continued by asking Kinneri Dave how both astute strategy and flexibility are necessary to successfully navigate a legacy business through the digital maelstrom. "Could you describe a situation where you were able to bring things back on track when they were veering off course because of your transparency rather than just your strategic abilities?""When you take over a brand, a legacy brand as large as Shemaroo, the burden of the brand and the legacy is huge, and you're always on edge, making sure you're not denting it," Kinnari Dave said, citing a server crash as an example that demonstrated the leadership transfers. I can clearly recall that five years ago, I oversaw product and technology for another company before taking the helm at Shemaroo.I remember clearly the day one of our servers broke and we lost a lot of data because it's a legacy brand and we had a major tech move. At that period, leading product technology for a heritage company felt extremely risky because of the media and people' doubts about a legacy brand going digital in comparison to Netflix. We told stakeholders, "Yeah, we've had a crash, lost data, and need time to figure this out," rather than jumping into solution mode, I said. However, we'll make sure that things return to normal. I then said to the crew, "All right, so this is where we are." Let's focus on finding a solution and separating the problem from the who. That made things more relatable and encouraged cooperation. Because we came together and worked as a single, cohesive team, I believe that's where we found the solution and recovered more quickly than anticipated.

IGP provides a variety of practical presents. The ad highlights growing tendencies in office gifts. The goal of IGP is to simplify corporate gifting. With the debut of its second ad video under the 'Amazing Gifts, Samay Par' campaign, International Gifts Platform, or IGP, has added a humorous and inventive twist by putting a birthday celebration in the Stone Age. This most recent episode satirically reimagines the classic problem of selecting the ideal birthday present, demonstrating that gift selection was important even in prehistoric times. The campaign's main concept is that a well-considered present given at the appropriate moment can have a lasting effect. The advertisement transports us to the Stone Age, when even prehistoric people understood that a birthday celebration wouldn't be complete without the ideal cake. A young cave lad surprises his crush with a delectable cake and blooming flowers from IGP in a world where stone tools are cutting edge and fire is considered a luxury. Every cave-dweller at the gathering is won over by the cake, which becomes the talk of the tribe. The message is clear: a thoughtful, well-timed present can make a lasting impact in any era, whether you are looking for dinner or running contemporary errands!

Did artificial intelligence sap Coca-Cola's Christmas cheer?

Did artificial intelligence sap Coca-Cola's Christmas cheer?

Social media users reacted negatively to Coca-Cola's recent AI-generated Christmas advertisements. Many contend that the intended Christmas spirit was overshadowed by the campaign's lack of emotional connection and appropriate execution. Although the advertising' technology was impressive, the narrative fell short of the success of Coca-Cola's seminal 1995 commercial. We sought the opinions of prominent figures in Indian advertising.Social media users made fun of Coca-Cola's AI-generated Christmas advertisements when they were published last month. Some users felt that the magic had been lost in the advertisements, which were meant to honor the brand's famous Coca-Cola Christmas commercials from 1995, "Holidays Are Coming." Experts in the field offer their opinions on whether the recent internet backlash against the cola giant's advertisements is the result of bad execution or AI failure. The CCO of DDB Mudra Group, Rahul Mathew "I believe that a campaign's ambition is what makes it successful. You won't be content until you achieve your goal of being the most talked-about campaign. On the other hand, you will be content that you are out there if your goal is simply to be there. I believe the goal of the Coca-Cola commercial was just to be an AI execution. And rather than being a tale that appeals to everyone's Christmas spirit, that has turned into the commercial's narrative."Animation, CG, AI, and live action are all methods of execution. The customer does.

The Chief Justice withdraws from legal arguments on the employment of poll workers.

Sanjiv Khanna, the Chief Justice of India, resigned on Tuesday from hearing arguments against the legality of the statute that removed him from the committee responsible for selecting the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners. The Chief Justice, who shared the bench with Justice Sanjay Kumar, informed the petitioners' attorneys that he was unable to hear their plea. "List the matter before a bench of which I am not a part of," he stated. He said that the matter will be heard after the winter break and would be reallocated to a separate bench, excluding the Chief Justice. During that time, the Chief Justice also instructed the Center and other parties to submit answers to the petition. In their representation of the petitioners, senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan and attorney Prashant Bhushan stated that the previous bench, which was led by Justice Khanna, who had not yet been promoted to the position of Chief Justice, had issued interim orders in the case back in March. Notably, the Chief Justice of India was not allowed to serve on the committee that appointed the chief election commissioner (CEC) and other election commissioners as a result of the Election Commissioners' Act, which was approved in December 2023. The Prime Minister, a Cabinet Minister, and the Leader of the Opposition currently make up the appointment panel.A number of individuals, notably the Association for Democratic Reforms and Congressman Jaya Thakur, contested the legality of Section 7 of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners Act, 2023, and requested a halt to its implementation. A different Supreme Court bench, consisting of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, had earlier in March declined to halt the new law's implementation of the appointment of new Election Commissioners (ECs).

Election Commission ruling by the Supreme Court: When judicial activism shapes the law

Election Commission ruling by the Supreme Court: When judicial activism shapes the law

By adopting the Constituent Assembly's mantle in its March 2, 2023, ruling, the Supreme Court of India essentially rewrote some of the Constitution's clauses. The Court mandated that revised guidelines for the Election Commissioner's appointment be adhered to.According to these regulations, a committee made up of the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Chief Justice of India must advise the appointment of the Election Commissioner. The Court defended this by saying that these regulations are necessary to address the "lacuna" in the laws governing this topic. However, it is clear that the Court has acted in flagrant contempt of the doctrine of the separation of powers if we examine the Court's reasoning and the laws pertaining to the appointment of Election Commissioners in greater detail. The Constitution itself, which aimed to create three institutional organs—the legislature, executive branch, and judiciary—is the source of the theory of separation of powers. The Constitution also outlined the roles of these three branches, with the legislature enacting laws, the executive branch enforcing them, and the judiciary rendering decisions. But the same Court that once acknowledged this theory as a component of the Constitution's "basic structure" has now reversed it.

Amitesh Jha of Flipkart is appointed CEO of Swiggy Instamart.

With effect from September 4, 2024, Swiggy has named Amitesh Jha as the new CEO of Swiggy Instamart. Jha offers more than 20 years of expertise to the position, having previously worked with Flipkart. The on-demand meal delivery service Swiggy announced in a press release today, August 29, that Amitesh Jha has been named CEO of Swiggy Instamart. On September 4, 2024, Jha will take over as CEO of the fast commerce company. As competition intensifies in the rapid commerce space, Swiggy has made a move into larger e-commerce categories by appointing Flipkart veteran Amitesh Jha as the new CEO of Instamart.Amitesh Jha, a Flipkart veteran, was named CEO of Swiggy Instamart by IPO-bound Swiggy at a time when rapid commerce competitors are preparing for a fierce competition with e-commerce behemoths. The hiring of Jha reflects the desire of rapid commerce companies to expand beyond grocery by entering e-commerce markets that have historically been robust, such electronics, fashion, and clothing. According to his LinkedIn page, Jha, who has 14 years of experience at Flipkart, was most recently the Senior Vice President of Category and Marketplace, where he oversaw high-growth companies that accounted for 70% of transactions on the Walmart-owned e-commerce platform.Swiggy Group CEO Sriharsha Majety highlighted Jha's "extensive experience in leading core categories such as smartphones, general merchandise, fashion, and large appliances, as well as managing their logistics arm" when he explained why the former Flipkart executive was chosen to lead Instamart. Protecting Swiggy Instamart's market share, which UBS thinks is currently between 20 and 25 percent, compared to Bernstein's projections of 35 to 39 percent in 2023, is one of Jha's biggest problems. In addition to market leader Blinkit's steady rise, BigBasket's complete focus on speedy commerce and Zepto's charge, which is being supported by $1 billion in new funding, are the main causes of the assault.

Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi), starring Allu Arjun, is an unstoppable force at the box office, setting yet another record on the second Saturday. Early trends indicate that the Sukumar-directed film hopes to earn between Rs 41.00 crore and Rs 43.00 crore on the tenth day, bringing its total earnings to Rs 458 crore. With a gross of Rs 33.00 crore, the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starring Stree 2 was the most grossing second Saturday in Hindi cinema history. The movement and momentum in the evening and night shows will determine if Pushpa 2 will even approach the Rs 45 crore milestone on the tenth day. If it succeeds, Pushpa 2's second Saturday will gross more than Stree 2's second Sunday (Rs 42 crore), which says a lot about the movie's dominance at the box office. Pushpa 2's second weekend could bring in close to Rs 115 crore, which would once again be the largest amount ever made. After surpassing the box office receipts of Animal, Bahubali 2, Pathaan, and Gadar 2 in just 13 days, the Allu Arjun flick is expected to surpass the Rs 500 crore mark on Sunday and rank as the third-biggest Hindi feature film ever by Tuesday. In order to become the most successful Hindi film ever and the first to ever reach the Rs 600 crore milestone, the movie will then be vying for the box office receipts of Jawan and Stree 2.

The Union Budget 2024 may see the government loosen the 45-day payment restriction for MSMEs.

The Union Budget 2024 may see the government loosen the 45-day payment restriction for MSMEs.

According to insiders, the government may decide to loosen the rule requiring MSMEs to be paid for goods and services within 45 days of the purchase in order to deter big corporations from exploring alternative sources of funding This could be announced in the budget, which is expected to be delivered on July 23.Overview. The government is thinking about easing the 45-day payment deadline for MSMEs in an effort to keep big businesses from looking for alternative suppliers. It is possible that this modification to Section 43B(h) of the Income Tax Act would be disclosed in the forthcoming July 23 Budget. As per the Finance Act 2023's introduction of Section 43B(h) of the Income Tax Act, a larger company may face greater taxes if it fails to pay an MSME within the stipulated timeframe of 45 days for written agreements. This is because the firm cannot deduct the payment from its taxable income. The amendment was introduced to allow MSMEs to receive payments on time, but many of them expressed fear, according to sources. They said they were afraid that large corporations might ask their vendors to give up their MSME registration in order to do business with them, or they might shift their sourcing requirements to larger firms in an effort to protect their interests.

Is the 'Caveman Skincare Routine' a hoax in terms of hygiene?

Is the 'Caveman Skincare Routine' a hoax in terms of hygiene?

I'm a regular TikTok scroller (the four hours of screen time a day speaks for itself), and I've seen a ton of beauty films, from popular trends to amazing hacks that would put a Victorian kid in a coma. The caveman skincare method, however, may just take the biscuit—or perhaps I should say water—as the most talked-about topic on SkinTok lately. The 'Caveman Skincare Method' is the skincare regimen that TikTok creator Tia Zakher has lately described in a number of videos on the platform. "After 8 years of picking and over-exfoliating, I'm healing my skin barrier by doing the one thing I never tried before... absolutely nothing," Tia explains in a video that has received 9.7 million views. In other words, she has stopped using water in addition to all skincare products (I'm referring about moisturizer, exfoliant, and cleanser). Tia responded to Cosmopolitan UK's inquiry on why she chose to utilize the caveman skincare method by saying, "I decided to do it because I wanted to try a different approach and I do think it's working for me."

According to Instagram, rubbing raw ginger can help clear up acne. Are dermatologists in agreement?

Another day, another Instagram beauty tip that has gone viral. You surely have a feed full of skincare tips on how to treat acne if you have it, like I do. Social media is using natural components from your kitchen, such as flax seeds for "botox" and raw garlic. This time, raw ginger is the focus, as influencers assert that applying it topically can help eradicate acne. It seems like a simple solution to acne, doesn't it?Innumerable videos of Indian skinfluencers with radiant skin can be found online these days, stating that the key isn't pricey facials but rather applying raw ginger directly to acne outbreaks to treat them right away. But is this spicy suggestion really supported by any science? To find out if this pattern is reliable, let's take a closer look and get some professional guidance. What are the opinions of experts? First, let's get this out of the way. Anything is not necessarily beneficial to your skin just because it is natural. particularly when used undiluted and raw. Senior consultant dermatologist Dr. Gulhima Arora of Mehektagul Dermaclinic states that ginger has only been indirectly shown to be effective in treating acne in scientific studies. It shouldn't be regarded as the primary or first line of treatment. She emphasizes that acne is a complex condition and that not all of its triggers can be addressed by a single spice.Dermatologist and Kaya Limited medical advisor Dr. Saranya B concurs, saying that using raw ginger to the face is not a clinically validated method of treating acne. Despite its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities, direct application may irritate skin. According to Skin Smart Solutions' founder and principal dermatologist, Dr. Bindu Sthalekar, "there is no scientific proof that applying raw ginger topically treats acne." Theoretically, it might be beneficial, but only if taken in conjunction with other drugs and with good tolerance.

How to get ready for a multilingual child

You can do a lot to set the stage for your child to learn the languages you want them to know before they are born. For every new parent, expecting a child—especially their first—is a lot. Where the baby will sleep, how to arrange for feeding, changing, and bathing, and how to set up your work schedule so that you or another caregiver can spend time with the child are just a few of the many unknowns and preparations that need to be made. If you are able to speak multiple languages, you might want your child to be able to speak them as well.Although this isn't always the case, many people in the English-speaking world know very little about any other language. Nearly 60% of EU citizens between the ages of 25 and 64 are "good" or "proficient" in at least one language other than their first. Many youngsters can anticipate having several first languages as they are born into households where multiple languages are spoken on a regular basis. It's possible that your parents speak various first languages or that you were raised speaking multiple first languages. Neither parent's first language may be the one spoken by the majority of people outside the family. You can do a lot to set the stage for your child to learn the languages you want them to know before they are born. Parents might talk about the language skills they hope their child will acquire. Which language or languages should your child learn as their first language from the beginning? Generally speaking, the original language or languages are more developed than subsequent languages. If more than three or four languages are involved, you might have to prioritize due to practical constraints. Making sure the child receives adequate, consistent exposure to and contact with each language they are learning is crucial. Parents frequently desire to engage with their infant in the

As the nation commemorates the centennial of Vajpayee's birth, his legacy endures.

The centennial of Atal Bihari Vajpayee honors his important political accomplishments to India. He served a full term as India's first prime minister who was not a member of the Congress. Vajpayee continues to play an admirable role in Indo-Pakistan ties, coalition politics, and effective administration. He was a great statesman and orator who had a long-lasting effect on national policy and parliamentary democracy in India.Using his trademark flourish, Atal Bihari Vajpayee made one of his most well-known predictions during the BJP's first convention at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on December 30, 1980: "Andhera chhatega, suraj niklega, kamal khilega" (darkness will end, the sun will rise, lotus will bloom). His remarks have held up well as the centennial of his birth approaches, with lotuses in full bloom and the BJP regaining control of the center for a third consecutive term.Vajpayee assisted the BJP in gaining traction when its cultural goal was viewed as anathema, if Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it the focal point of national politics. In a world full of powerful satraps, India's first non-Congress prime minister to serve a full term was a statesman politician and an unmatched orator who garnered admiration and respect from people on both sides of the political spectrum. He stood tall with his natural democratic spirit, which he had developed over decades of opposition.

Indian Boxers Renew Effort To Win Italys Spot in the Paris Olympics 2024

The 1st World Qualification Tournament, which begins in Busto Arsizio, Italy on Sunday, will feature nine Indian boxers vying for spots at the Paris Olympics, including the seasoned Shiva Thapa, Deepak Bhoria, and Nishant Dev. At the qualifiers run by the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU), an ad hoc body established by the International Olympic Committee Executive Board, seven men and two women from India will be vying for Olympic berths. If a boxer advances to the semifinals, they will automatically be guaranteed a ticket to Paris. The tournament has 49 quota spots available. In the women's 60kg division, however, only three spots are available, so the Olympic berths will be determined by a box-off between the losing semifinalists. While a number of boxers have already secured quota spots through their respective continental events, there are a number of elite fighters who will be eager to complete the deal in Italy this month. These fighters include Yuberjen Martinez of Colombia and Tomoya Tsuboi of Japan in the men's 51kg division, Makhmud Sabyrkhan of Kazakhstan as the current 57kg world champion, and Yoel Finol of Venezuela, the Olympic silver medallist.Over the past year, Bhoria and Dev have become formidable competitors in their respective weight classes. Hussamudin, a two-time bronze medallist at the Commonwealth Games, will be competing again for the first time since the world championships last year after undergoing surgery on his left knee. Sanjeet (92kg), the former Asian champion, and Thapa (63.5kg), the six-time medallist, will be highly anticipated. Narender Berwal, a 92 kg super heavyweight boxer, is another serious contender. At the Asian Games, the first qualifying bout for the boxers on the continent, he was the closest of all the Indian male boxers to securing a quota.Jaismine Lamboria, a woman, will face difficulty in the women's 60kg division. Simranjit Kaur gave her fierce competition during the nationals in December, so the bronze medallist in the CWG will need to step it up if she wants to have a good result. Ankushita Boro, a former youth world champion at 66 kg, has been given an opportunity to face Arundhati Choudhary, who defeated the Assamese boxer in the national championship match in December.Two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen (50 kg), bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain (75 kg) from the Tokyo Olympics, Preeti Pawar (54 kg), Parveen Hooda (57 kg), and Nikhat Zareen (50 kg) have already booked their tickets to Paris. However, boxers still have a chance to qualify for the Paris Games because there will be one more qualifying event in Thailand in May or June.

A Look Into The Numbers: Steve Smith: Is The "Best Since Bradman" On Decline

During the first Test match against New Zealand in Wellington, star Australian batter Steve Smith continued his downward spiral as an opening batsman. He was removed by Matt Henry for 31 in 71 balls during the first Test, and Kiwi captain Tim Southee later dismissed him for a three-ball duck in the second inning. Smith's lean run, which began right at the beginning of the new ICC World Test Championship cycle, has been further enhanced by this. Smith has scored 12, 11*, 6, 91*, 31, and 0 since the opening, for a total of 151 runs at an average of 37.75 in six innings. Even with such a small sample size, Smith hasn't exactly had his best opening performance. Regarding his total test results since the beginning of the WTC cycle 2023–25, they have been comparatively lackluster for someone who is widely regarded as the standard by which excellence and consistency in tests are measured. Smith has scored only 718 runs at an average of 37.78 across 22 innings in 11 Tests played under the new cycle, with just one century and four fifties. His highest rating is 110.Usman Khawaja (916 runs in 11 matches at an average of 43.61), Zak Crawley of England (808 runs in nine matches at an average of 47.52), and most recently Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young opening sensation from India (971 runs in eight Tests at an average of 69.35), have all scored more runs than him, even though he is still the fourth-highest run scorer in the current cycle.Smith hasn't been able to sustain most of his excellent starts during this time, frequently faltering in his 30s and 40s or failing to reach a century without reaching a half-century. Additionally, Smith's strike rate over this entire period has been 50.42, which is less than his career strike rate of 53.54. His average has also suffered, dropping from 60.04 to 57.52 shortly after he hit the game-winning century against India in the ICC World Test Championship final.

Following the intervention of the center, Google agrees to restore Indian apps.

A dispute over service fees led to the removal of Indian mobile apps from the Play Store, but Google has started the process of restoring them. According to sources, the decision was made following a meeting between IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and company representatives. Ten Indian companies' apps were removed by Google on Friday, causing controversy in one of its fastest-growing markets. With 94% of phones running on its Android platform, Google commands a large portion of the Indian market. Popular names like Naukri and Bharatmatrimony were on the list. The main point of contention is Google's in-app purchase fees, which range from 11% to 26%. Indian startups have long opposed the US tech giant's actions, believing them to be unfair. The creator of Bharat Matrimony, Christian Matrimony, Muslim Matrimony, and Jodii, Matrimony.com, expressed shock at the matchmaking apps' removal from the Google Play Store. Murugavel Janakiraman, the founder, described it as a "dark day" for India's internet, highlighting the possible broad effects on matchmaking services."One by one, our apps are being removed. It literally means that all of the best matrimonial services will be eliminated," Mr. Janakiraman stated, according to Reuters. We possess an enormous and dynamic startup ecosystem. To ensure that this ecosystem is preserved, we must take all necessary measures. Google has embraced Indian technologies quite well. Before meeting with Google representatives, the minister told NDTV, "I am quite hopeful that Google will be reasonable with its approach." Due to some policy infractions, Google temporarily removed the well-known Indian payments app Paytm from the Play Store in 2020. Following the change, the founder of the business and the larger startup community banded together to take legal action against Google and launch their own app stores.

Article 21: The Constitutions Soul, with Citizens Liberty Supreme

According to the Supreme Court, Article 21 is the essence of the Constitution because it protects citizens' rights to liberty, which are so valuable that a person would lose them if the high court takes too long to decide cases pertaining to it. Amol Vithal Vahile, a prime accused in the murder of a corporator in Maharashtra, was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on January 29 following prodding from the top court, according to a bench of Justices B R Gavai and Sandeep Mehta. In a recent ruling, the bench stated that it is evident that prior to this court's order being issued on January 29, 2024, the high court had dismissed the bail application on one or more grounds rather than considering it on its merits. It goes without saying that Article 21 of the Indian Constitution is its core because it upholds the fundamental right to liberty for all citizens. It stated, "Depriving the party of their precious right guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India would mean not reaching a quick decision and brushing off the issue on one or the other basis pertaining to a citizen's liberty." The bench stated that it has encountered numerous cases from the Bombay High Court in which the applications for bail and anticipatory bail were not resolved promptly. The bench mentioned one instance where the application for anticipatory bail was pending for over four years. "We have also encountered many cases where the judges find an excuse to reroute the case on unrelated grounds rather than rendering a decision based on the merits of the case. As a result, we ask the chief justice of the Bombay High Court to communicate our request to all judges who have criminal jurisdiction so that the issue of bail and anticipatory bail can be decided as soon as possible," the bench stated. It requested that the Supreme Court's Registrar (Judicial) forward this directive to the High Court's Registrar (Judicial), who will present it to the Bombay High Court's chief justice. The bench stated on January 29 that, despite the fact that Vahile had been detained for more than seven years, on March 30, 2023, the high court had ordered him to appear before the trial court for regular bail.

According to US think tank Brookings, India has eradicated extreme poverty.

In a recent report, the American think tank Brookings Institution praised India for having eradicated extreme poverty, a major development in the country's socioeconomic landscape. The report, authored by economists Surjit Bhalla and Karan Bhasin, credits the success to the Indian government's aggressive redistribution-focused policy initiatives over the previous ten years that have promoted inclusive growth. According to the study's statistics, household consumption has increased while the headcount poverty ratio has significantly decreased. The data challenged the World Bank's earlier estimates, suggesting that there are fewer poor people in India. The study indicates that a key element behind this achievement is the combination of robust economic expansion and a notable decline in income inequality. From 12.2% in 2011–12 to just 2% in 2022–2023 at the purchase power parity $1.9 level, the "headcount poverty ratio" fell precipitously. The authors argued that the government's steadfast commitment to redistribution is the reason behind the higher growth in consumption in rural areas. According to the study, publicly funded programs like the national drive to build toilets and the push for universal access to electricity, modern cooking fuel, and piped water have been crucial. The report highlights the impact of these policies by pointing out that rural access to piped water has increased dramatically from 16.8% in August 2019 to an astounding 74.7% at this time. The authors stress that India's transition from extreme poverty to a lower poverty line signals both the need for the country to advance to a higher poverty line and positive implications for global poverty rates. The publication of the study coincides with the recessions of Japan and the UK, two of the largest economies in the world. The United Kingdom has officially entered a recession after revealing a 0.3 percent contraction in the fourth quarter of 2023. Japan, which was once expected to have the greatest economy in the world, has also been having difficulty recovering from the Covid pandemic

Shattered glass and furniture were seen strewn on the floor of the cafe, which drew attention among residents. Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddramaiah said that the blast occurred from a bag that was left behind by a customer at 12pm. Although the immediate cause has not been determined, Karnataka DGP has confirmed the explosion to be a bomb blast, supposedly an IED blast. "I have spoken to the police, they told me about the ongoing investigation. There was a small bag carried by a person. The identity of the person is not known. The cashier at the eatery is being questioned, as the person had gone to the cashier to take the token and ate the food...the same person had placed the bag," said Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah . A team of forensic experts also collected evidence from the site of the explosion in The Rameswaram Cafe. A dog squad also arrived at the site of the explosion. The area around The Rameswaram Cafe was secured by the police and Fire Brigade teams and the injured were hospitalised. Divya Raghavendra Rao, co-founder and managing director of the cafe chain, said she was told there were two explosions within 10 seconds of each other, injuring one customer and three employees. The Rameshwaram Cafe is one of the popular hangouts and is usually extremely crowded during lunch hours. Further details are awaited.

"Fit Is Not Healthy": Entrepreneur Dilip Kumar After Zerodha CEO Suffers Mild Stroke

Entrepreneur Dilip Kumar recently addressed the "crazy theories" that surfaced online after Zerodha co-founder and Chief Executive officer (CEO) revealed that he suffered a mild stroke six weeks ago. Taking to X, Mr Kumar, who claims to have worked with Mr Kamath "closely", debunked a popular myth by explaining that "being fit is not equal to being healthy". He also clarified that fitness is about the ability to perform physical activities such as endurance, stamina, flexibility, power and speed. "Okay, about the recent post by Nithin and all the crazy theories being spread around - there are a few things people should know. First, I work with Nithin closely. We have done workouts and races together. I know him a little more than others making opinions and commentary on social media. So, what should be the takeaway from his post?" Mr Kumar tweeted. In the following post, the entrepreneur explained how one's health encompasses a broader spectrum, including physical, mental and social well-being, where the body's systems operate in harmony. "Being fit is not equal to being healthy. Most people believe being healthy and being fit are one and the same. It's not. They are not synonymous and are distinct states of physical well-being," Mr Kumar wrote. "Being fit means your ability to perform physical activities such as endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power & speed. These are a set of attributes that people have or develop to perform a physical activity," he continued. Further, Mr Kumar went on to debunk more misconceptions. "We often look at athletes or movie stars as fit and healthy. But often they are not," he wrote. "You may be a runner, go to gym regularly or get your ten thousand daily steps. Fitness doesn't guarantee health. While being fit can contribute to overall health, it's possible for someone to be physically fit but still experience health issues due to poor nutrition, stress, lack of sleep, or underlying medical conditions,' he explained. Mr Kumar emphasised the importance of a balanced approach to fitness and health in his post as well. "The gap between being healthy and looking fit is a modern-day confusion caused by social media. Fitness is important and can be achieved through specific physical activities. Health considers various dimensions of well-being and is achieved by sustainable long-term practices," he tweeted. "Striking a balance between fitness and health is essential," he added. Notably, Mr Kamath revealed that he suffered a mild stroke six weeks ago. He said although he does not know what exactly caused it, he thinks that a combination of factors including his father's death, poor sleep, exhaustion and overworking could be the reasons.

"Assured Us, But...": Tunnel Rescue Heros SOS After House Demolished

One of the houses that was razed in the Delhi Development Authority's (DDA) recent demolition drive belonged to Vakeel Hasan, a rat-hole miner who played a key role in the Uttarakhand tunnel rescue operation last year. The DDA said that the demolition on Wednesday was part of a broader effort to clear illegal encroachments in the Khajuri Khas area of northeast Delhi. However, Hasan and other residents argue that they were not given any prior notice. Hasan expressed his dismay, stating, "I am Vakeel Hasan. The reward we got for saving 41 from Uttarakhand's Silkyara tunnel was that our house had been demolished. I need help. They have caught me, and my children, and are keeping us in a police station. They have also beaten some of us." Munna Qureshi, another miner involved in the rescue operation, echoed Hasan's sentiments, saying, "The government had assured us that they would give us the privilege of sitting at home, but they have snatched our team member's home." The DDA countered these claims, asserting that prior information had been given to all the residents. Officials also said that the land was designated for planned development. The Silkyara-Barkot tunnel rescue operation gained widespread recognition for its use of rat-hole mining, a practice banned for safety reasons. The miners, including Vakeel Khan and Munna Qureshi, stepped in when high-tech, imported machines failed during the operation in November 2023. Mr Khan, a rat-hole miner employed by a Delhi engineering services company, vividly described the moment of the successful rescue. "They hugged me, cheered in applause, and thanked me profusely," he had said after the trapped workers who spent 17 days in the tunnel were successfully brought out.

CM Sukhwinder Sukhu will continue for 5 years, says Shivakumar; can say, replies Congress HP chief Pratibha Singh

Amid the ongoing political crisis in Himachal Pradesh, state Congress president Pratibha Singh on Friday undermined party observer DK Shivakumar's statement about Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stating that “it is the people of the state who will decide the fate of the government".Congress leader and Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has said the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu-led Himachal Pradesh state government will stay and all the MLAs want the Congress government for five years. However, Pratibha Singh's comment has revealed that the party's state unit and its observers are not on the same page on the issue. Reacting to Shivakumar's statement, Pratibha Singh was quoted by ANI as saying, “Observer ke bolne se kya hota hai', it is the people who will decide what will happen in the future." Mentioning her loyalty to the Congress party, Pratibha Singh noted, “I have spent my entire life in the Congress party. We started from the Congress party." "We affiliate with the Congress ideology. I can't say what can happen tomorrow," she added, hinting at another trouble for the party after the resignation of Vikramaditya Singh from the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu cabinet. Interestingly, Pratibha Singh recently applauded the activities of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and said the Congress was on a weak footing. She also called out the Himachal CM for not listening to her advice to organise the party to regain strength in the state.  "From day 1, I had been telling the CM that we would be able to face the upcoming elections only if he strengthens the organisation. This is a very tough situation for us. We can see a lot of difficulties on the ground. As per the directions of PM Narendra Modi, the BJP is going to do a lot of things...We are on weak footing there. I urged him (CM) again and again that we need to strengthen and the party needs to be organised...I can say that it is a difficult time. Still, we have to contest elections and win," she told ANI. The Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government suffered a major setback after losing the Rajya Sabha elections because of cross-voting to the BJP. The grand old party lost the lone seat of the state in the Upper House of Parliament after its six MLAs cross-voted for the BJP. Moreover, Congress senior leader and minister Vikramaditya Singh announced his resignation from the cabinet. The development prompted the Congress party to send former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar to the hill state to resolve the crisis. With the disqualification of the six Congress rebel MLAs, the strength of the House has reduced from 68 to 62. The halfway mark is now 32. The Congress now has 34 MLAs and the BJP has a total of 28 MLAs, including independents. The fortunes of the grand old party rely on its ability to keep the rest of its party MLAs together.

Himachal Pradesh Political Crisis: Six rebel Congress MLAs disqualified. What lies ahead for the hill state?

Himachal Pradesh Political Crisis: Six rebel Congress MLAs disqualified. What lies ahead for the hill state?

Himachal Pradesh Assembly speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on February 29 disqualified the six rebel Congress MLAs who cross-voted during the Rajya Sabha elections. With this, the six MLAs cease to be members of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly. After the disqualification, the Congress government has, for now, survived in Himachal Pradesh after a two-day scare over its future due to cross-voting by six of its MLAs in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate in the Rajya Sabha election on February 27. The strength of the house after the disqualification, pending judicial scrutiny, comes down to 62. The Congress now has 34 MLAs in the house, with 32 being the majority mark. Three independent MLAs who supported the Congress also cross-voted for the BJP in the Rajya Sabha election. The BJP had demanded a trust vote soon after the Congress lost the Rajya Sabha polls due to defections. Former Chief Minister, Jairam Thakur, and other leaders claimed that the Congress party had lost the majority in the house. However, the Congress government passed the budget on Wednesday, February 28, while 25 BJP MLAs were not present in the house after 15 of them were suspended. Also, the disqualification of six rebel MLAs has changed the dynamics. "Our experts will analyse the situation, and after looking at their judgments, we will take a decision. It is too early to say anything. Congress was totally exposed in the Rajya Sabha elections. Congress has lost its opportunity. Morally, they have no right to stay in power and the emotions of the people of Himachal Pradesh are clear from this," Rajeev Bindal, Himachal Pradesh BJP president, told news agency ANI. This disqualification order is subject to judicial scrutiny and will attain finality after judicial scrutiny, Pathania said. Also, it remains to be seen if these six MLAs approach the court against the disqualification. The six legislators had cross-voted, along with three independents, during Rajya Sabha polls. However, they have not been disqualified for cross-voting, but for violating the whip and skipping the budget session of the Himachal Pradesh assembly. Pathania said he wanted to prevent 'the aya Ram gaya Ram' politics. This phrase is used to refer to politicians switching party allegiances frequently. The Congress government's survival will also depend on whether the party can ensure that there are no more defections among the 34 MLAs. The Congress government's survival will also depend on whether the party can ensure that there are no more defections among the 34 MLAs.
