EC requires pre-certification on all platforms and tightens regulations on digital ads ahead of state elections.
With the announcement of the Assembly election schedule for Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry, as well as by-elections in six states, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has implemented a more comprehensive regulatory framework to control political advertising, emphasizing digital platforms, transparency, and the control of misinformation.A pre-certification requirement for all political advertisements in electronic and online media is at the heart of the directive. The action is a reflection of the Commission's effort to stay up with the quickly changing political landscape, where voter perception is now significantly shaped by social media amplification and digital outreach. Before distributing commercials, all political parties, candidates, and affiliated organizations must first receive approval from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committees (MCMCs), according to the new regulations. This holds true for a variety of digital channels, such as social media platforms, e-papers, bulk SMS, voice messaging, and public audio-visual displays, in addition to more conventional electronic media like radio and television. While recognized political parties can apply for certification through state-level committees, candidates and individuals must apply to district-level MCMCs. To examine disputed rulings, an appeals process has also been established, with each state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) serving as its head. The Commission has effectively extended regulatory authority deep into the digital ecosystem by making it plain that no political advertisement may be published or distributed on internet-based platforms without prior approval. In addition to certification, MCMCs have been assigned to monitor suspected "paid news" situations more closely, which has long been a problem in Indian elections. When content is discovered to be promotional but presented as editorial, the committees are supposed to keep a careful eye on media outputs and take appropriate action. Candidates are now required to disclose all official social media accounts in their nomination papers as part of a concurrent push for transparency. In online campaigning, where unofficial or proxy accounts have frequently been used to reinforce narratives without credit, this rule aims to ensure traceability and responsibility.

IPL 2026 Cultural Toolkit for Brands Folk Frequency Releases
BARC India and Nielsen have jointly announced the launch of BARC | Nielsen ONE Ads, a first-of-its-kind cross-media advertising measurement solution that combines digital and linear television data into a single, unified framework, marking a significant milestone for the Indian advertising sector. The absence of a unified, single-source view of campaign effectiveness across screens is a persistent problem in the advertising ecosystem that the new approach seeks to solve. In order to maximize media spending, marketers and agencies need more integrated measuring solutions as media consumption continues to split across platforms and devices.BARC | Nielsen ONE Ads integrates Nielsen ONE Ads' digital measuring capabilities with BARC's linear television viewership statistics. Advertisers can assess actual campaign reach and frequency across the whole media landscape thanks to the platform's deduplicated view of audiences across various screens, including Linear TV, Connected TV (CTV), Mobile, and Computer/Desktop. JioHotstar will be the first platform to use the framework, starting with the ICC Men's T20 World Cup India & Sri Lanka 2026. The partnership is a major step toward measuring premium internet and television content across platforms. Further industry-wide cross-screen coverage may be possible in the future with further involvement from other broadcasters.

How CTV can prevent repeating the ad errors of linear TV for living room monetization
Connected TV live sports are about to enter a crucial period of recalibration. The medium is plagued by an old broadcast reflex: more advertisements equal more money, despite its promises of scale, accuracy, and living-room supremacy. A fundamental concern for the ecosystem is raised by the growing need to profit from every stop as live matches draw enormous concurrent audiences. To what extent can ad loads be increased before fandom becomes transactional and viewer immersion breaks down? Tolerance is a delicate currency in an environment where control and choice are paramount. This unique research explores what sustainability actually means during live sports by bringing together voices from the CTV, ad-tech, platform, and agency sectors. Beyond simple inventory counts, topics like experience design, temporal intelligence, creative ecosystems, and attention economics are covered. The emphasis is on creating a model where monetization does not come at the expense of loyalty, taking into account factors like the unpredictable nature of live broadcasts and the potential to increase interaction after the final whistle. The fundamental conflict is obvious: how well the ecosystem learns to use the screen, rather than how much advertising it can accommodate, will determine the direction of CTV sports in the future.

What is the reason behind Punjab Governor Kataria's abrupt praise of the Bhagwant Mann government in contrast to cooperation
The Punjab Assembly's budget session began earlier this week when Governor Gulab Chand Kataria gave a speech that mainly commended the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's performance, despite opposition protests interfering with Assembly business and the governor's own anti-drug march weeks prior continuing to garner political attention. In sharp contrast to his predecessor, Banwarilal Purohit, who had multiple run-ins with the Punjab government, Kataria praises the initiatives of the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government. The government drafts the governor's address, which summarizes their accomplishments.Governors Thaawar Chand Gehlot and R N Ravi, who has since been named governor of West Bengal, have recently omitted portions of their speeches that commended the state governments in states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, where the governors are perceived to have a tumultuous relationship with the state government.Mann's AAP government and Purohit had a number of issues between 2022 and 2024. One such disagreement occurred in early 2023 when the Governor first refused to approve the Budget session, which forced the state government to petition the Supreme Court. However, Kataria's 51-page speech on March 6 detailed the state government's efforts in a number of areas, including welfare programs, infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and anti-drug campaigns. The extension of Aam Aadmi Clinics throughout the state was one of the efforts that were emphasized. According to the governor, hundreds of clinics are currently in operation and have given locals crores of free consultations and medications. The speech also mentioned the government's "Yudh Nashean Virudh" anti-drug program, which includes outpatient opioid-assisted treatment clinics and de-addiction centers for drug addicts' rehabilitation. In order to improve government education, Kataria mentioned hiring thousands of instructors and creating Schools of Eminence. The address also mentioned road infrastructure upgrades, irrigation facilities, 300 units of free power for the majority of homes, and farmer welfare programs including increased sugarcane prices.Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa and other Congress lawmakers frequently interrupted the speech by shouting slogans about things like law and order. Assuring the lawmakers that they could voice their objections during the discussion later, Kataria pleaded with them to let him finish the constitutional address first. Congress MLAs eventually organized a walkout as the protests persisted. Following the speech, the Governor spoke at a joint press conference with Mann, praising the Punjab government's efforts to combat drug misuse and enhance education. According to him, the Opposition ought to have let the speech end before voicing its opinions in the House so that their complaints could be legally documented.

Unauthorized reviews, dubious log-ins, and fuzzy documents: TMC MP to Supreme Court on SIR
TMC MP Dola Sen told the Supreme Court that Election Commission-appointed micro-observers were allegedly overriding decisions made by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), the statutory authority for including and deleting electors, raising concerns that eligible voters could be removed from the final electoral roll during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal. In two applications filed on February 16 and 18, Sen, a petitioner before the Supreme Court contesting the SIR, also claimed that documents uploaded to the system were becoming "blurry" after submission and that officials were allegedly logging into the ECINET portal from locations other than where they were deputed. On February 28, West Bengal's final electoral roll is expected to be released. The Indian Express asked the EC for comment on Sen's claims, but the EC did not reply. The EC only deployed micro-observers in West Bengal, which was a first, despite announcing the SIR in nine states and three Union Territories on October 27 of last year. The EC informed the Supreme Court on February 4 that the purpose of the 8,100 micro-observers, who work for the Central Government, was to support EROs and Assistant EROs (AEROs). The EC had stated, "It is false to suggest that statutory powers have been vested in the micro-observers."

India displays its entire armed might on the 77th Republic Day, with Operation Sindoor taking front stage on the Kartavya Path.

About 10,000 distinguished guests saw the parade, which combined military might with cultural cohesion. At its 77th Republic Day parade on Monday, January 26, 2026, India put military might front and centre. Kartavya Path was transformed into a sweeping display of missiles, armour, mechanised columns, and combat aircraft, with a keen focus on weapon systems related to Operation Sindoor, the high-intensity military operation carried out in May of last year. The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, Akash air defence system, Suryastra rocket launcher, and Arjun Main Battle Tank were among the major armament systems on exhibit at the start of the military demonstration, which emphasised India's focus on battlefield readiness and domestic defence manufacturing. A large portion of the equipment on exhibit was either used in Operation Sindoor, the confrontation with Pakistan that took place from May 7–10, or it was directly inspired by lessons learnt.A tri-services tableau featuring replicas of key weapon systems used during the operation was a big draw. A glass-cased integrated operational command centre served as its focal point, providing a visual representation of Operation Sindoor's execution through the coordinated use of systems including the S-400 air defence system and BrahMos. Akash and S-400 systems were depicted as offering a protective air-defense shield during the fight, while BrahMos missiles were predicted to perform decisive offensive attacks.Lt. General Bhavnish Kumar, a second-generation officer and General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area, led the procession. The Indian Army demonstrated a phased "Battle Array Format," including its airborne component, for the first time. The reconnaissance element included high-mobility reconnaissance vehicles after the historic 61 Cavalry in active battle uniform. Strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties can be found in ginger. However, what would happen if a person chewed a piece of ginger every day for sixty days? When we asked Dr. Amreen Sheikh, chief nutritionist at KIMS Hospitals, Thane, about it, he replied that it increases circulation, relaxes the airways, and progressively lessens throat inflammation. Many patients report decreased bloating, improved digestion, and fewer coughs after six to eight weeks. Ginger can ease the inner lining of the airways and provide general lung comfort for people who are susceptible to seasonal respiratory symptoms, according to Sheikh.Yes, but with reasonable expectations, Sheikh argued. Unlike medication, ginger does not "open the lungs." Rather, it operates subtly. It can aid those who frequently experience irritation from pollutants, relieve moderate wheezing from cold weather, and clear congestion in the throat. Additionally, by loosening mucus, its warming impact facilitates its expulsion during an illness. Ginger can help with long-term lung conditions like COPD or asthma, but it should never take the place of prescription medication, Sheikh said. While using ginger on a daily basis is generally safe, Sheikh pointed out that excessive use can cause oral irritation, cause acidity in those who are sensitive, or slightly thin the blood. Before developing a habit, people who take blood thinners or have gastritis or acid reflux should speak with a doctor. A tiny portion is more than sufficient; moderation is crucial," Sheikh stated.

Cough syrup deaths: TNFDA probe reveals Coldrif manufacturer's shortcomings
According to CDSCO sources, the investigation into the Kanchipuram-based Coldrif cough syrup producer, which was connected to child fatalities in Madhya Pradesh, has shown shortcomings in the Tamil Nadu Food and Drug Administration's enforcement of fundamental regulatory standards. They said that Sresan Pharma, which was granted a license by the Tamil Nadu Food and Drug Administration (TNFDA) in 2011, carried on operating undetected for more than ten years in spite of its inadequate infrastructure and many infractions of national drug safety regulations.According to the sources, a recent examination by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) revealed the unit's terrible conditions and complete disregard for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). "The CDSCO has not participated in any of Sresan Pharma's audits. This company was not included in any of the CDSCO databases since the CDSCO was not involved and the state FDA did not provide the CDSCO with any information on it, according to a source.Rule 84AB of the D and C Rules mandates that manufacturers update all of their certified items on the "Sugam" site, according to another source at the CDSCO.In order to facilitate improved monitoring, the regulation was notified to create a national database of all the authorized items in the nation. Why it's never a good idea to do a DIY chemical peel
People all over the world are enamored with the idea of having flawlessly clear skin, whether they have glazed or glass skin. They are using expert treatments, such as wine baths and salmon sperm facials, in addition to skincare and makeup to reach their goals. In recent years, chemical peels have been increasingly popular among these. However, as members of the social media generation, it appears like there is a do-it-yourself solution for practically anything. By combining various acids, many people have even begun trying chemical peels at home.Even while your nani-dadi ke nuskhe were safe enough to try at home, trying a chemical peel is a very different matter and might cause significant skin damage. But first, comprehend...According to Dr. Ruben Bhasin Passi, dermatology consultant at CK Birla Hospital in Gurugram, "Chemical peels are skin treatments that use acid-based solutions to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin," India Today reports. According to her, these treatments function by encouraging cell turnover, breaking down dead skin cells, and boosting the creation of collagen.Peels can treat problems like acne, hyperpigmentation, fine wrinkles, and uneven texture, depending on their strength (light, medium, or deep). "While deeper peels like trichloroacetic acid penetrate deeper for more dramatic results, light peels like alpha-hydroxy acids target the epidermis," Dr. Passi continues.Additionally, according to Dr. Shifa Yadav, dermatology and cosmetology consultant at Artemis Hospitals in Gurugram, this procedure aids in the skin's regeneration of new, healthier cells, giving it a smoother, more even complexion. It is frequently used in skin care clinics to improve the appearance and feel of skin, but in order to prevent irritation or injury, it must be applied and maintained properly.Even though experimenting with at-home hacks can be enjoyable, practical, and even economical, it's crucial to keep in mind that not all conditions can be safely treated using do-it-yourself methods. To prevent long-term damage, certain beauty procedures—particularly those involving potent chemicals—require professional knowledge and expertise.According to Dr. Vidushi Jain, medical head of Dermalinks in Delhi-NCR, homemade peels frequently employ the incorrect acid concentrations without taking the safety of the skin into account. They lack the professional followup that such procedures require, which can lead to burns, infections, uneven pigmentation, and delayed healing. "Many kits have strong acids like TCA or glycolic acid that can harm the skin," says Dr. Yadav.

Bihar Catch-22 Congress and RJD are hesitant to take action against MLAs who did not participate in Rajya Sabha elections
Both parties are currently in a difficult situation after the Opposition Mahagathbandhan lost to the NDA in the pivotal Rajya Sabha elections earlier this week due to the absence of four of its MLAs, three from the Congress and one from the RJD. They are unsure of how to deal with them. Surendra Mehta (Valmiki Nagar), Manoj Vishwas (Forbesganj), and Manohar Prasad Singh (Manihari) have all received show-cause notices from the Congress, and the RJD has not yet made a decision regarding their Dhaka lawmaker Faisal Rahman.Asit Nath Tiwari, a spokesperson for the Bihar Congress, told The Indian Express that the notifications were sent out despite the fact that Rajya Sabha elections are exempt from the anti-defection law. "Top party leaders will meet and decide on the appropriate course of action after we receive their responses," he stated.Another Congress leader, however, pointed out that the MLAs make up almost half of the party's strength in the Assembly and suggested that disciplinary action was improbable. What happens if the Speaker acknowledges them as a distinct group? Regardless, the rebels weren't actually members of Congress. Singh is known to be close to JD(U) leaders, whereas Mehta received a ticket because of the influence of (Independent Purnea MP) Pappu Yadav," the politician stated.Rahman, the son of former MP Motiur Rahman, presents a similar problem for the RJD. "Faisal narrowly secured his seat in the Assembly elections last year. Additionally, we have verified that his mother was quite ill on March 16, the day of the election. The party is likely to call the MLA once our leader Tejashwi Yadav comes to Patna. An RJD senior stated that the party will not be provoked by NDA leaders "who want to further weaken it," although no official show-cause notice has yet been issued.

Indias Top Players Give Ravichandran Ashwin-Ravindra Jadeja Duo Huge Applause
Anil Kumble, a former captain of India, has high praise for veteran spin twins Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin amidst the ongoing first Test match between India and England in Hyderabad. In Test cricket, the two players have taken more than 500 wickets between them; in the first innings against England, they each claimed three wickets. India has only lost four Test matches in their 49 matches together, winning 35 of them. On Ashwin and Jadeja surpassing him and Harbhajan as India's most successful Test bowling pair, Kumble hailed the achievement as "incredible". From their first test match together to the 41st, these two spinners have been under constant pressure. It is amazing that they have survived those times and produced performances that win matches, whether it be Ashwin, Jadeja, or both," Kumble remarked. "They have occasionally both caught five-fers. It's amazing that someone can consistently pick up five in the first and five in the second when someone else picks up five in the first. He continued, "You can't expect your team to win 30 games out of 40 when you do that."The renowned spinner added that Ashwin and Jadeja's aggressive mentality prevents the opposition batters from breathing. "These two are exceptionally intelligent. And because these two are always coming at you, it's difficult for a batter to breathe for even a single ball. The best thing about Indian conditions and spin bowling is that they are both endless. The attractive thing about these two bowlers is that they will be coming at you," Kumble said. Kumble (281) and Harbhajan (220) had selected 501 for India in 54 Tests. In the meantime, in their 50th Test together, Ashwin and Jadeja have achieved a milestone.

Indian luxury car buyers move from diesel to electric
Sales of diesel vehicles in the luxury vehicle segment have more than halved in the last five years even as the rich and well-heeled have taken the lead in adoption of electric vehicles in the country. The share of diesel in total sales of luxury vehicles in the local market declined to 35% last year from about 80% in 2018, and electric vehicles now account for 6% of overall volumes in the segment - thrice the share of EVs in the mass market, as per industry estimates. Ease of installing charging points at homes or offices for more affluent buyers who can also buy electric as a second or third vehicle has been fuelling demand for these cleantech vehicles at the upper end of the market, industry executives said. The "better than expected demand" for EVs in a country where charging infrastructure is yet not widely accessible has surprised carmakers like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz, who have together lined up more than half a dozen EV models for launch in the next one year to capitalise on latent demand. Market leader Mercedes Benz India has even commenced local assembly of EV EQS 580 at its facility in Pune (its first assembly plant outside Germany for EVs), while others are fast-tracking feasibility studies for the same, to bring down costs of electric vehicles in the country. The luxury carmakers are clearly not as gung-ho about their diesel offerings. "The share of diesel in vehicle sales is already on a decline," Balbir Singh Dhillon, head of Audi India, told ET. "Going ahead, we will see a transition to petrol and electric vehicles in the market, which was earlier dominated by diesel." Once the share of diesel in sales of luxury vehicles dips to 20%, it is unlikely to be viable for any manufacturer to continue to offer the fuel option to customers, Dhillon said. Audi India had stopped sales of diesel vehicles in the country ahead of the transition to BSVI emission norms, and has on offer only petrol and electric cars here. The company, which has on offer four EVs in the country with prices starting at Rs 1.2 crore, has plans to strengthen its portfolio with more affordable battery electric cars to expand its share in the space. BMW, which leads the Indian luxury EV market with 50% share in 2023, plans to drive in two new EV models in 2024 while Mercedes Benz India has scheduled three new EV launches in the country this calendar year. BMW, which saw the share of diesel vehicles slide to 36% last year from 65% four years back, is working on introducing more electric vehicles in India at varied price points to cater to a wider array of customers. "We have the most diverse product portfolio in electric with five distinct products and will continue to strengthen our range to build on our leadership position in EVs," BMW Group India president Vikram Pawah said.

HeroMotoCorp unveils CE001 Limited Edition: A tribute to founder on 100th birth anniversary
HeroMotoCorp, the renowned two-wheeler giant, stole the spotlight at the Hero World 2024 event with the dazzling showcase of the Mavrick and Xtreme 125R. However, the real showstopper turned out to be the unexpected unveiling of the highly anticipated CE001 limited edition motorcycle. This exclusive model, based on the new Hero Karizma XMR 210, is set to capture the hearts of motorcycle enthusiasts, as it pays homage to Hero Group's founder, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, on his 100th birth anniversary.Marking a significant milestone, the Hero CE001 represents the company's first foray into crafting limited edition offerings for its customers. Described by the manufacturer as the "most special bike built in India," this commemorative edition is a testament to the legacy of Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal and the rich history of the Hero Group. The choice of the Hero Karizma XMR 210 as the base for the CE001 holds sentimental value, as the original Karizma was conceived during the tenure of Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal as the Chairman Emeritus. The CE001 maintains the essence of the original design, incorporating the distinctive half-fairing version that pays homage to the classic motorcycle. Adding to its allure, the limited edition motorcycle features bodywork crafted from lightweight carbon fiber, ensuring a substantial reduction in weight compared to the stock model. Riders can also expect an upright riding posture for enhanced comfort. While HeroMotoCorp has not disclosed specific details about engine modifications, it is anticipated that the CE001 will boast a power boost over the standard model. The Hero Karizma XMR, serving as the foundation, boasts a trellis frame housing a potent 210 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, producing 25 bhp and 20 Nm of peak torque. The CE001 is expected to offer a superior power-to-weight ratio, accompanied by a range of performance upgrades, including the inclusion of an Akrapovic exhaust. The company has committed to delivering all 100 units of the CE001 by July this year, with the entire stock available for purchase online. New Delhi: The upcoming interim budget is unlikely to have any additional incentives for hybrid vehicles, people aware of discussions in the government said. A scheme, FAME-II, already exists to incentivize both hybrid and electric vehicles. In addition, a committee instituted by the ministry of heavy industries (MHI) will seek the Indian auto industry’s views on the possibility of reducing taxes on hybrid vehicles. According to documents released by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Tesla acknowledges that software instability may impede the display of images from the backup camera while the vehicle is in reverse, thereby heightening the risk of a potential collision. Tesla emphasizes in the documents that it is currently unaware of any reported crashes or injuries related to this issue. The problem has reportedly been rectified through an online software update.Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notification letters starting March 22.

PM Modi hails Nari Shakti at NCC rally, says govt removed obstacles for women
The world is watching how India’s women are projecting Nari Shakti and proving their mettle in every field, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday, a day after women stole the limelight at the 75th Republic Day parade, with ample representation in every element of India’s biggest ceremonial event: in the flypast, in mechanised columns, in marching contingents, in bands and in the cultural show. “The 75th Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path was dedicated to ‘Nari Shakti’. We have opened up opportunities for daughters in sectors where their entry was previously restricted or limited,” the PM said addressing the customary National Cadet Corps (NCC) rally at the Cariappa parade ground in Delhi Cantt. He highlighted the contribution of women to different fields including the armed forces, the country’s space programme, start-ups, banking and insurance. The PM said the government has removed obstacles to the entry of women in different areas, while speaking about the opening of frontline roles to women in the military, including command roles, combat positions and permanent commission. “Be it Agniveers or fighter pilots, the participation of women is only increasing in the armed forces,” he said. An all-women tri-service contingent consisting of Agniveers (recruited for short-term in the personnel below officer rank cadre under the Agnipath scheme), led by women officers, took part in the Republic Day parade for the first time. Also, 15 women pilots, including six fighter pilots, were a part of the spectacular flypast. They flew Rafales, Sukhoi-30s and helicopters.Women in uniform are no longer on the fringes but are being assigned central roles on a par with their male counterparts. Women were in the driver’s seat at the parade and 80% of all activities involved them, including the heralding of the parade by 112 women artistes playing a variety of Indian musical instruments from across the country and the Vande Bharatam cultural extravaganza involving 1,500 women. The national flag was also unfurled on the arrival of President Droupadi Murmu by a woman officer, Major Saumya Shukla, amid the roar of a 21-gun salute. The number of women in Central Armed Police Forces has more than doubled during the last 10 years and states are being encouraged to recruit more women in the police force, the PM said. More than 400 sarpanchs of ‘vibrant villages’ and around 100 women belonging to various self-help groups from different parts of the country attended the NCC rally as special guests. The government’s vibrant village programme is aimed at the comprehensive development of select villages along the country’s northern border with China, and covers areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Ladakh.“When the country gives equal opportunity to the talent of sons and daughters, its talent pool becomes enormous,” Modi said.He encouraged the youth to leverage the opportunities presented by Digital India.

Nitish Kumar NDA alliance news: How RJD, Congress plan to deal with JDUs possible switch
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress have geared up to deal with any unexpected developments in case Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar switches alliances and return to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Speculations are rife that Nitish Kumar would soon resign as the Bihar Chief Minister and take oath for the ninth time, with an NDA cabinet. Nitish Kumar's JD(U) is currently in alliance with the RJD and the Left parties in Bihar. His move to snap ties with the Lalu Yadav's party would come as major hit to the Opposition's INDIA bloc ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. At a press conference, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been given the task to handle the situation, likely to unfold in next "two-three days" in Bihar. Meanwhile, Lalu Yadav's party, the RJD, reportedly has a "game plan". RJD leader Manoj Jha said on Saturday that Lalu Prasad Yadav, the chief of the party, has been authorised to take all the decisions. After holding a meeting with RJD leaders, Jha said, "Discussion on several things was done. All the issues, whether from the national or state level, everything were discussed during the meeting. It was a legislature meeting, Lalu Yadav, Deputy CM (Tejashwi Yadav) all MLAs, everyone was present. We all have authorised Lalu Yadav to take the decision. Besides, Lalu Prasad Yadav reportedly asked all MPs to stay in Patna for the next few days. Sources told India Today that the former Bihar chief minister has also asked MPs not to switch off their mobile phones and be prepared for all adverse situations.

Justice Department finds Cuomo sexually harassed employees and settles with New York state
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The U.S. Justice Department concluded former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed more than a dozen state employees, according to a settlement announced Friday that confirmed allegations from the damaging misconduct probe that led to the Democrat’s resignation. The settlement between New York and the Justice Department resolves the federal agency’s sexual harassment investigation of Cuomo and outlines additional steps the state will take to change how it handles misconduct complaints. Cuomo, once a rising star in the Democratic party, left office in 2021 after a report by Attorney General Letitia James concluded he sexually harassed at least 11 women. He has denied wrongdoing and argued James’ report was driven by politics, intended to force him from office so she could run for governor. The Justice Department investigation found a similar pattern of sexual misconduct by Cuomo and said he subjected at least 13 state employees to a sexually hostile work environment. It said Cuomo’s staffers failed to adequately report allegations and retaliated against four women who raised complaints. The agency did not release a full report detailing its investigation but instead published a list of its findings. An attorney for Cuomo said in a statement that the former governor did not sexually harass anyone. “The DOJ ‘investigation’ was based entirely on the NYS Attorney General’s deeply flawed, inaccurate, biased, and misleading report. At no point did DOJ even contact Governor Cuomo concerning these matters. This is nothing more than a political settlement with no investigation,” said Cuomo attorney Rita Glavin. The settlement undercut Cuomo’s long-standing criticism of James’ probe at a sensitive time, with the former governor rumored to be considering a political comeback. “Today, the U.S. Department of Justice found that Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and created a hostile work environment, confirming what the New York attorney general’s independent report found over two years ago,” a spokesperson for James said. “Andrew Cuomo can continue to deny the truth and attack these women, but the facts do not lie.”

Prominent celebrity lawyer pleads guilty to leaking documents to reporters in Fugees rapper’s case
WASHINGTON (AP) — A prominent defense attorney whose star clients have included Snoop Dogg pleaded guilty Friday to leaking grand jury information to reporters about a political conspiracy case against a rapper from the Fugees. David Kenner, a California-based attorney known for his representation of celebrities like Suge Knight and Tory Lanez, was sentenced to a year of unsupervised probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor contempt of court charge. He also agreed to pay a $5,000 fine. Federal prosecutors say Kenner was representing Prakazrel “Pras” Michel, a founding member of the Fugees, when he gave grand jury information and photos to two reporters for Bloomberg News for “defense-oriented” stories that ran in March 2023, shortly before the start of the Washington, D.C. trial. Michel’s trial included testimony from such figures as actor Leonardo DiCaprio and former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. As is typical in criminal cases, Kenner had gotten access to evidence in order to prepare Michel’s defense, but had been ordered by the court not to share the information, prosecutors said. Kenner’s attorney said in court documents that the reporters originally agreed to sign a protective order, but later changed their minds. A Bloomberg News spokesperson declined to comment.Kenner, 82, told the judge who sentenced him that he was reckless for not taking steps to terminate the reporters’ access to grand jury information. He described it as a “low point” in his 56-year legal career.

This $1.3 billion fund manager expects Teslas shares to gain 550% by 2030
Tesla Inc.’s slowing growth and shrinking profit have made it the weakest stock on the Nasdaq 100 this year. Fund manager David Baron is betting it will be a bump in the road for Elon Musk’s company before another parabolic rally. It’s a tough wager to make right now, after the electric-vehicle maker warned on Wednesday that it will expand at a “notably lower” pace this year, prompting a 12% plunge in the stock. It has now lost $209 billion in market value this month through Friday’s close. The manager of the Baron Focused Growth Fund expects Tesla’s stock to reach $1,200 by 2030, up 550% from current levels, citing its strong brand. Tesla and Musk’s privately held SpaceX were the fund’s largest holdings as of December 31. Last year, it climbed 28%, beating the 18% rise in its benchmark, the Russell 2500 Growth Index, and the S&P 500’s 24% gain. And despite Tesla’s outlook for slower sales growth this year — a result in part of the EV winter that’s gripping the entire industry — Baron still expects the stock to touch around $300 in about 12 months, from around $183 at Thursday’s close. “While he may not be growing 50% a year as the company thought,” Baron said in an interview, “this year in a tough environment he’s still growing volume by 15% to 20% per year and making us $7,000 per car of gross profit.” Tesla delivered 1.8 million cars in 2023, up 38% from the year before. This year, Wall Street analysts project unit sales will increase 17%. The company didn’t respond to an email seeking comment. The Tesla holding is a key to Baron’s goal of boosting his fund’s assets to $2 billion this year, from $1.3 billion as of December 31.The fund manager’s father, Wall Street veteran Ron Baron, is famously a big Musk bull. The elder Baron oversees the Baron Partners Fund, which a Bloomberg Intelligence study published in August found was alone among thousands of rivals to beat the Nasdaq 100 over the prior five, 10 and 15 years. As for SpaceX, David Baron projects its valuation will rise 20% in a year, double within three years and triple within five. The space and satellite company is worth $175 billion or more, Bloomberg reported last month. Baron, 43, became co-portfolio manager in 2018 with his father. The small- and mid-cap fund first bought Tesla shares in 2014. Its outperformance last year came as Tesla’s stock doubled, powered in no small part by its artificial-intelligence potential. Replicating that success in 2024 will be tough should Tesla struggle amid waning EV demand. “More investors are beginning to increasingly question the company’s growth narrative,” Toni Sacconaghi, an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein, wrote in a note after the latest quarterly results. And while Tesla bulls often say innovation by the company can allow it to sustain a cost advantage and strong margins, “the counterargument is that the automotive industry is hyper-competitive, and carmakers have historically been unable to sustain cost advantages,” the analyst added.
