One Battle After Another wins in the BAFTA film awards in the United Kingdom.

One Battle is a dark comedy. After Another has won six BAFTA awards, including best film and best director for Paul Thomas Anderson, and has swept the top film honors in the United Kingdom. The movie won the top honors at the gala on Sunday night, defeating both the vampire thriller Sinners and the Shakespearean family tragedy Hamnet.The UK awards, formally known as the EE BAFTA Film Awards, frequently offer clues about the winners of Hollywood's Academy Awards, which take place on March 15 this year. In addition to winning accolades for directing, adapted screenplay, cinematography, and editing, One Battle After Another, an explosive picture about a gang of revolutionaries engaged in a violent fight with the state, also earned praise for Sean Penn's supporting role as an obsessive military officer. As he accepted the directing award, Anderson remarked, "This is very overwhelming and wonderful." In the film, the director used Nina Simone's statement, "I know what freedom is: It's no fear." "Let's continue creating without fear.
It's a smart idea.With a record 16 Oscar nominations, Sinners took home the best original score, best supporting actress award for Wunmi Mosaku, and best original screenplay for writer and director Ryan Coogler. Hamnet took home two prizes, including best British film, while the gothic horror tale Frankenstein took home three. One of the strongest candidates for BAFTA's best director and non-English language film categories was The Voice of Hind Rajab, a documentary exposing Israel's horrific invasion on Gaza. Sentimental Value, however, took first place in the non-English language category.
