Activist Jarange: "Give Marathas reservation within the legal framework by Aug. 26 or face agitation."
Manoj Jarange, an activist, stated on Monday that if the government does not declare Maratha reservation "within the legal framework" by Tuesday, he will go on to Mumbai to start an agitation. He stated that he has no interest in traveling to Mumbai for a "indefinite hunger strike," which he said would be a nonviolent protest, if the demand is met by Tuesday.Jarange has called for a protest to begin on August 29 in Mumbai's Azad Maidan, calling for the Maratha community to be given preference in government employment and education under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. He has been leading the push to recognize all Marathas as Kunbis, an agrarian caste that falls under the OBC category, so that they can be given preference in government employment and education. In order to demonstrate the Marathas' Kunbi identity, the activist has emphasized the community's need for the application of historical records, such as the Bombay, Satara, and Hyderabad gazettes."Give us reservation that fits in the legal framework," Jarange stated during a press conference held in the Jalna district's Antarwali Sarati hamlet, from which he intends to depart for the agitation on August 27. He claimed that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is purposefully adopting a "stubborn stand". 29 castes were been added to the OBC category by the government. According to the activist, this is akin to inciting the Maratha community. "Today and tomorrow belong to the government. Give us our reservation; we don't want to travel to Mumbai," he remarked.Jarange has been demanding the quota under the OBC category, despite the state government's announcement last year of a 10% reservation for the Maratha community under a different category. "A quota ought to be granted to the Maratha group since they have records of Kunbis. We don't want the 10% reservation to be canceled at any time," he stated. He stated, "We will also stand with him if reservation is given," if the chief minister believes that the OBC community supports the BJP.

Massive, out-of-control satellite to crash into Earth today
The European Space Agency’s (ESA) ERS-2 satellite weighed 2.5 tonnes at launch and was cutting-edge technology when it launched in 1995. But now, the massive satellite is out of control and could hurtle into the planet’s atmosphere on Wednesday. ESA’s latest estimate suggests that ERS-2 will reenter the atmosphere at 9.19 PM on Wednesday, February 21. The risks of the satellite falling into populated areas is negligible but not non-existent. ERS-2 was the space agency’s second earth observation mission after ERS-1. It carried many payloads including a “Synthetic Aperture Radar” and a radar altimeter to study sea surface temperatures and winds. ERS-2 also had sensors for atmospheric ozone research. In the year 2001, after several of its on-board gyro systems failed, a group of engineers from ESA and other industries invented a new way to fly and control the satellite systems. After that, the on-board data storage system of the satellite failed in 2003. This meant that the mission had to be redesigned as “real-time,” meaning that it only relayed science data directly at the time of capturing it. These changes meant that the satellite could function well beyond its intended lifespan. After completing more than 82,000 orbits around the planet, the satellite’s mission ended on September 5, 2011. That is when they “passivated” the satellite, making sure that all its batteries and pressurised systems were emptied or made safe to avoid the chance of an explosion. But before ESA switched off all systems on board, they used the satellite’s remaining fuel for a series of manoeuvres that lowered its altitude from 785 kilometres to about 573 kilometres. That put the satellite on the path that finally sees it reentering the planet on Wednesday and ESA hasn’t been able to control it since then.
Launch Date of OnePlus Watch 2 in India
Prior to its eagerly anticipated launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, the OnePlus Watch 2 has been unveiled. According to the company, it will debut on February 26 at 8:30 p.m. IST (4:00 p.m. CET). Three years have passed since the 2021 launch of the OnePlus Watch, the smartwatch's predecessor. The consumer tech brand did disclose some information about its design and battery life, but not many important specifications. Unusual for OnePlus, a community post on the company's website disclosed the launch date and gave a sneak peek at a few of the Watch 2's features. A pre-reserve pass has been used to open early reservations, and a microsite for the smartwatch has also been developed. As of the writing of this article, all 1500 of the passes were sold out. The OnePlus Watch 2's sapphire crystal glass and stainless steel chassis were highlighted in the announcement post. There will be two color options: radiant steel and black steel. The smartwatch will have up to 100 hours of battery life in "full Smart Mode," according to the company. If accurate, this will surpass the battery life of the Apple Watch Series 9, which in our review we discovered to provide about 2.5 days when in low-power mode. Since the post mentioned recently released products like the foldable OnePlus Open, OnePlus Buds Pro 2, and OnePlus Tab, some attention was also paid to ecosystem building. But no mention of ecosystem features was made. Additionally, the term "meticulous health monitoring" surfaced, suggesting that there may be significant improvements to the health tracking system. Some more important details about the upcoming smartwatch have leaked according to earlier reports. The Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset and a 1.43-inch AMOLED display are possible features of the OnePlus Watch 2. Although Wear OS is anticipated to run on it, it is unknown if Wear OS 3 or Wear OS 4 will be used. To confirm that it might be available in India at the same time as its global launch, a landing page has also been created on Amazon mentioning the same launch date and time.

If you want to spend around Rs 25,000 on an Android phone, it is very unlikely that you will be stuck with a truly bad one unless you are intentionally deciding to make poor choices. With the X9b, Honor has seemingly decided to pin its hopes on what it is calling the “ultra-bounce anti-drop display,” which the company claims can withstand “1.2 times the impact of a drop, whatever that means. The truth of the matter is that I am not quite equipped to do the kind of specialised testing to see if those claims are true. Honor says that the X9b is the “first phone to get a five-star overall drop resistance certification from Switzerland’s SGS.”Certifications like this are meaningless unless they provide a benchmark to compare against. What I can say for the phone is that my clumsy self dropped it twice — once from my bed a foot or two above the ground and one from my table that is less than a metre above the ground. There was no damage. Also, my friend’s pet cockatiel Kiwi took a liking to perching on the phone when I held it up around him. Kiwi’s sharp claws scratch my shoulder when he sits on it, but it did nothing to the phone. Of course, I am not sure how much of that can be attributed to the applied screen protector and the free transparent case that comes with the phone. The massive 6.7-inch screen has a 2652×1200 (1.5k resolution), giving it a very high pixel density of 429 pixels per inch. The sides of the phone’s screen curve away from the user in a way that reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Maybe that is not what you remember that phone for. I am usually sceptical about phones that have a curved display because I am not sure how well they deal with palm rejection but that did not seem to be an issue here. That may be because the actual screen does not really curve as much as the glass’s design makes it appear.
Google Gemini App on Android, Gemini Toggle on iOS Rolling Out in India and Other Countries
Google has started rolling out its Gemini app on Android to users in India. While there's no dedicated app on iOS, iPhone owners will be able to see a toggle on the top of the Google app, allowing them to enable and utlise the features of the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot. The tech giant launched the Android app on February 8, but the rollout was limited to the US. Now, the app is being expanded to more than 150 countries and territories. According to Google's support page, the Gemini mobile app is now available in English, Korean, and Japanese languages and is being expanded to more than 150 countries and territories. The full list of countries is listed on Google's support page. The iPhone users don't have a dedicated app at the moment, but they can use Gemini's AI capabilities through the Google app, which now has a toggle button on the top-right that allows access to the chatbot. Gadgets 360 was able to confirm the availability of the Gemini toggle on the Google app on iOS 17.2.1. The Gemini app requires a smartphone with at least 4GB of RAM. It must also run Android 12 or newer versions of Google's operating system. Similarly, the Gemini toggle is available to iPhone users running iOS 16 and newer. As the AI service is only available in English, Japanese, and Korean, it will only be available on smartphones set to use these languages. Lastly, users should be signed in to a personal Google Account or a Workspace account where the administrator has enabled the feature. In case, you still cannot see the app or the toggle, it is worth noting that the global rollout started on Thursday and is expected to continue for a few more days. Jack Krawczyk, Senior Director of Product at Google, who is also handling Gemini, revealed in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Gemini app's restrictions on image uploading and image generation were being somewhat relaxed. However, he added, “We'll continue to work through responsibly aligning on refusals with both images and text.” More features and expansion to more regions are currently in progress, as per the Gemini head. Some users who added Gemini as the default assistant over Google Assistant in Android smartphones had complained that there was no clarity on which in-device features was the AI capable of performing. Krawczyk said in a post on Wednesday, “Working on making it more clear exactly which Assistant features are work in progress vs which are available now. (also working on narrowing that gap!)”
