TikTok has joined the expanding library of apps on the visionOS App Store, releasing a new native experience for Apple’s Vision Pro headset. The platform now offers Vision Pro users an immersive way to view short-form videos on the new device, providing a spatial computing experience optimised for the headset’s capabilities. The addition of TikTok is a major coup for Apple, given the app’s immense popularity among Gen Z users. The app’s spatial computing experience could highlight the Vision Pro’s capabilities for consuming short-form video. Initially, there were concerns about limited native app experiences for the Vision Pro upon launch. Early January reports suggested only around 150 available apps. However, this number quickly grew to 600 by early February. Currently, app engagement remains relatively low. Many developers report download figures in the mere hundreds. However, as more well-known apps become available, engagement will likely improve. Native app support has been a struggle, with major players like YouTube, Spotify and Netflix initially declining Vision Pro app development. In fact, lack of proper app support was one of the most commonly cited reasons for returning the headset – aside from the weight and discomfort, of course. However, earlier this month, YouTube did confirm plans to launch a Vision Pro app. This indicates TikTok may soon face competition from YouTube’s Shorts feature.

With the proposed merger of its Indian arm with Zee terminated, Sony will seek various options, including finding another opportunity to replace the plan and organic growth opportunities in India, which has great potential in the long term, according to a top company official. In an earnings call, Hiroki Totoki, president, COO & CFO of Sony said India is a very appealing market where it would continue to invest. "India on a long term basis has a great growth potential. It's a very appealing market. Therefore, we will try to seek various opportunities and if we can find another opportunity that would replace this type of plan," Totoki said when asked about the company's strategy in India after the termination of the proposed merger. On the investment which Sony had committed as part of the deal, he said:"Well, that investment is not going to change a capital allocation or it will not change our behaviour in our investment. So at the moment, we do not have any concrete plans." The earnings call was held on February 14. As per the merger conditions, which was agreed upon between Sony and ZEEL, the Japanese giant was also supposed to invest USD 1.5 billion in the merged entity. The group will also continue to pursue organic growth as per its strategy in India, where it operates through Culver Max Entertainment (earlier known as Sony Pictures Network India), he said in the investors call.

It's rare to find a TV show — or any filmed entertainment — that can capture the euphoria and heartbreak of young love with equal grace. Netflix's new romance series One Day does that and more. Containing 14 episodes of varying length, it follows two characters - bubbly Emma and impetuous Dex - through two decades of joys and sorrows, small victories and terrible losses. It is dizzying and curious, but also poetic and profound. One Day can be the perfect TV show in its own way. Emma and Dex meet for the first time at the college prom, young adults on the cusp of new adventures. He is a campus sweetheart, and his leg exposes the hinterland of old money. But he is more cynical and comes from the working-class city of Leeds. Getting Dex's attention might be the biggest validation any girl gets in college, and when he tells Emma off on their last day together, she can't help but be suspicious. He's not the kind she usually goes for. But in the spirit of YOLO that predated the production of the expression, she loves him..
