Are adventure bikes India's newest two-wheeler fad? We clarify
In India, adventure bikes, sometimes referred to as adventure tourers or ADVs, are one of the motorbike segments with the quickest rate of growth. There is no apparent limit to what the Indian motorcycle market has to offer, ranging from well-known models like the Hero Xpulse 200 4V or the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 to more recent models like the TVS Apache RTX 300. In order to meet the growing demand that spans a wide variety of budgets and tastes, manufacturers have also begun introducing their high-displacement flagship tourers, such as the BMW R 1300 GS and Ducati DesertX. This wasn't always the case, and for a long time, only those with large enough wallets could afford these bikes, allowing them to live out their nomadic dreams. This changed when the Hero Honda Impulse 150, India's first mass-market dual-sport, was introduced. Although it wasn't an ADV, it helped establish the adventure market, which shortly saw the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, the first reasonably priced ADV, go on sale. By the year 2025, we have a large selection of models from both domestic producers and high-end foreign companies. There is a reason behind its popularity. The most adaptable motorcycles are ADVs, which have a tough exterior and strong hardware and technology that support both off-road and on-road riding. Demand has also been boosted by expanding interest in adventure travel, an increase in disposable income, and the allure of seeing India's varied landscapes. And with the state of Indian roads, it should be of no surprise that most OEMs on our shores sell an ADV for those eager to sail through whatever this country has to offer.

Kawasaki plans to bring back the KLE name with a new middleweight adventure bike, anticipated to launch at EICMA 2025 in Milan, Italy. Launched in 1991 as the Kawasaki KLE500, this was a 498 cc Japanese dual-sport motorcycle designed for light off-roading and long-distance touring. A new teaser video shared on the manufacturer’s social media has revealed glimpses of the bike in off-road conditions, further affirming that the model will maintain its rally-style dual-sport character for riders seeking robust adventure-ready equipment without entering the larger Versys lineup. From October 2026, electric vehicles in India will be equipped with a pedestrian warning system or AVAS. How it operates
From next year on, electric vehicles in India are expected to become noisy. In India, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has prepared a notification suggesting the establishment of a pedestrian warning system using Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems (AVAS) for electric vehicles. As a result, electric vehicles in India will be equipped with a pedestrian warning system that notifies other road users of the electric vehicle's presence. As reported by the US Department of Transportation, electric vehicles present a 20% greater risk of pedestrian accidents compared to cars with internal combustion engines, and this risk increases to 50% during low-speed driving. In markets such as the US, Japan, and Europe, AVAS is a compulsory feature for electric vehicles. With this technology, the low-frequency artificial sound produced by the EV easily alerts road users. According to the draft notification put forth by the MoRTH, all new electric vehicles, encompassing both passenger and goods carrier vehicles, are required to be equipped with AVAS starting from October 1, 2026. The rule will apply to the electric vehicles currently in production as of October 1, 2027. The government notification stated, "From 1st October 2026 onwards for new models, and from 1st October 2027 for existing models, electrified vehicles of category M and N must be equipped with an AVAS that complies with the audibility requirements outlined in AIS-173, as it may be revised over time."Regarding this, Md Saddam Hussain, Principal Research Associate at the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy, stated that the mandate will enhance pedestrian safety and align India with global best practices. In the context of India’s crowded cities, an audible alert can significantly impact low-speed situations, as long as the sounds are crafted to be effective while avoiding contributions to noise pollution. It will be crucial to include two- and three-wheelers in phases and to enforce regulations strictly through the use of well-defined thresholds and accredited laboratories. He added that for maximum impact, AVAS should be complemented by active safety technologies such as pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB).

Hero Mavrick 440 review, first ride
Hero MotoCorp has been the number-one player in the world for a while now. But that has been solely on the premise of sales basis, which are dependent on entry-level commuter motorcycles. However, the company also aspires to become a strong player in the premium segment. As a result, we have seen the emergence of bikes like the Xpulse, Karizma XMR, and even the Harley-Davidson X440. But now comes the time to take on the king of the middleweight motorcycles with the Mavrick 440.The Mavrick 440 shares the same platform as the Harley-Davidson X440 which was co-developed by Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp. However, the Harley was conceptualised as a cruiser compared to the Hero which is more of a roadster. As far as the design is concerned, the Mavrick 440 looks better proportioned. The bike rides on 17in alloy wheels and features chunky 43mm telescopic forks up front. The headlamp is an all-LED affair and also comes with a sensor that activates the headlights when it goes dark. The instrument panel is an all-digital affair and comes with numerous functionalities, including Bluetooth connectivity. However, the unit is a bit small, and especially the tacho is hard to read on the go. Coupled with a wide handlebar, a comfortable 803mm seat height, and neutrally placed footpegs, the Mavrick 440 promises long hours of comfortable riding. The fuel tank is quite a large unit and can take in 13.5 litres of fuel. This promises a long range for the Mavrick 440. The fuel tank also houses a small USB charging port. With a phone mounted on the handlebar, this comes in handy for keeping devices charged on the go. At the back, the design is minimalist and is finished off with a small but bright H-pattern LED taillight. The rear mudguard though is quite a large one and a tail tidy would make this bike quite a looker. When it comes to the chassis, the Mavrick 440 uses the same Trellis frame as seen on the Harley X440. However, the rear section has been reworked to suit the roadster design. The engine too remains identical. The air-oil cooled 2 valve single displaces 440cc and offers 27bhp and 36Nm of torque. Hero has also worked on the exhaust note of the bike and not only does the exhaust look better designed, but also gets its unique soundtrack. The rear suspension is a twin-shock setup that is adjustable. The bike weighs in at 187kg which is a comfortable number for most to handle.

2025 Renault Kwid: Old vs New Compared
Recently, Dacia unveiled the Spring EV globally, an entry-level all-electric hatchback that previews the next-gen Renault Kwid sold in our market. Following its reveal, we expect Renault to introduce not only the new-gen Kwid but also an all-electric version of it. In this report, we compare the next-gen Kwid to the current model sold in India. When viewing both the 2025 Kwid and the current model, you'll notice a significant transition in the design. The new-gen Kwid gets a sharp and sleek grille at the front, a departure from the chunkier appearance of the existing model. Additionally, the 2025 Kwid boasts a Y-shaped DRL signature that enhances the modern design of the hatchback. Moving to the profile, the next-gen Kwid maintains a similar silhouette but introduces new 15-inch alloy wheels. The side body cladding that you see with the current Kwid is retained with a slight design tweak. However, the roof rails, found on the current Kwid, are absent in the new-gen model. The rear profile of the 2025 Kwid undergoes significant update as well, diverging from the current model's simple oval-shaped taillight design to updated ones with a Y-shaped taillight signature. Its fresh design is further accentuated by a chunky plastic trim adorned with 'Dacia' badging. The interior of the 2025 Kwid undergoes a complete revamp, replacing the dated cabin of the current model with a more modern design. The large and chunky dashboard of the current Kwid is replaced by a more minimalist one. While there are new touch controls for important functions, the air-con is thankfully operated using physical controls. It also features sleeker AC vents along with a new 10-inch infotainment system that enhances the fresh appearance of the cabin. In terms of features, the new-gen Kwid is equipped with a larger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. It also includes a 7-inch digital driver’s display, connected car technology, Type-C charging ports, and cruise control. Additionally, features such as power windows, steering-mounted controls, and a 12V power socket are carried over from the current model. Safety features in the 2025 Kwid include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, reverse camera with parking sensors, and select ADAS features such as lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition. The current Kwid is offered only with two airbags along with other standard safety kit. In India, Renault is expected to offer the 2025 Kwid with the current 68 PS/91 Nm 1-litre naturally aspirated engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or AMT transmission. Later, they will likely introduce the Kwid EV with Spring EV’s powertrain specifications.

Scrapping your old car may fetch more soon
Owners of old and polluting automobiles may get additional benefits to scrap them in the near future, two people familiar with the matter said, with the government reviewing the existing scrappage policy that has found few takers so far. The road transport ministry is discussing additional benefits to encourage scrapping, and the prime minister’s office (PMO) will greenlight the final policy, the people cited above said on condition of anonymity. The policy may be rolled out by the new government that takes office after the next general elections. The head of BMW Group Designworks steered his car into a rest stop, highway traffic whizzing by in the background, and then dialed into his meeting. “I can’t concentrate on driving if I’m talking," says Holger Hampf, whose unit is internally known as “architects of the future." This pit stop, he says, happens to be an excellent example of what will change in the future. One day when cars can eventually drive themselves, executives will be able to sit back and work just as if they were in the office.

Aston Martin Vantage facelift revealed, gains new look, more power
British luxury car maker Aston Martin has taken the wraps off the new Vantage. This is a mid-life update for the car, which includes changes to the exterior, interior, as well as engineering bits, especially the motor which now puts out more power. The brand launched the DB12 Super Tourer in India recently. Visually the new Aston Martin Vantage has grown in size, with a 30mm bump in width, which helps with a meaner stance. The front end now comes with a huge grille, which is 38 per cent larger and offers 29 per cent more airflow to the engine bay. There are additional cooling intakes as well a splitter, all aiding the aero. There are larger fully matrix LED headlamps with LED DRLs which brings in the Aston Martin Light Signature. The iconic Aston Martin side strake has returned, while the car rides on larger 21-inch forged alloy wheels. Other elements of the new Vantage include a wider bumper, wider wheel arches, frameless door mirrors and flush door handles. Like the new Aston Martin DB12, the new Vantage too brings in a heavily revamped cabin. This includes a new 10.25-inch infotainment display which runs in-house developed user interface, allowing a number of connectivity options. The brand continues with its physical buttons on the central console and other areas, with the surfaces covered in carbon fibre or a number of bespoke materials which can be custom-made for each customer.has Aston Martin has continued with the Mercedes-AMG sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 which now produces 665bhp and 800Nm of torque. This means that the V8 Vantage now has matching performance to the older V12 Vantage, dispatching 0 to 100kmph sprint in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 325kmph. The engine has new cam profiles, compression ratios, better cooling, while the turbochargers are larger than before. This works in tune with the recalibrated 8-speed transmission, helping the Vantage with acceleration and quicker shifts.
