A recent feature has highlighted the remarkable craftsmanship behind two of Nita Ambani's handwoven saris showcased during the TIME100 Summit 2026 in New York. One of the saris, a traditional Jamdani weave from West Bengal, reportedly took 24 months to complete. It was handwoven by Padma Shri awardee Biren Kumar Basak in Phulia, West Bengal, and features intricate meenakari work, tribal-inspired motifs, ceremonial scenes, human figures, animals, foliage, and symbolic fish borders that represent prosperity. The painstaking weaving process reflects the dedication and extraordinary skill of Indian artisans, with every thread carefully placed by hand over two years. The article also highlights another elegant look worn by Nita Ambani—a handwoven Banarasi Katan silk sari from Swadesh. This sari was created using the traditional Kadwa weaving technique by master artisans Raheem and Gulzar and required five months of meticulous craftsmanship to complete.

The outfit was paired with a specially designed blouse by renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who described the creation as a beautiful blend of Indian heritage and contemporary design. The blouse featured tweed-inspired textures recreated through Indian embroidery, with delicate floral details that enhanced the overall elegance of the ensemble. Adding to the uniqueness of the first look, Nita Ambani accessorised the Banarasi sari with a rare 101-carat pinkish-brown old mine rose-cut pear diamond from her personal collection. The historic gemstone, set with six rows of Basra pearls, reflected exceptional rarity and craftsmanship. Along with a matching pink diamond ring, the jewellery complemented the traditional attire while keeping the focus on India's rich textile heritage. Fashion experts have noted that the combination of handcrafted fabrics, rare jewellery, and thoughtful styling presented Indian craftsmanship on one of the world's most prestigious international platforms.
