Under Ratan Tata's direction, the newest gem in the Trusts' crown will be the Tata Trusts Small Animal Hospital, one of the biggest in India.The Trusts have previously constructed the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, NCPA, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and Tata Memorial Hospital—India's first cancer care facility.Tata Trusts will open the nation's first cutting-edge small animal hospital at Mahalaxmi in Mumbai. This unique hospital has more than 98,000 square feet spread over five stories and can accommodate more than 200 beds. The institution, which is modeled after Ratan Tata's idea of a super specialty hospital for animals, will offer 24-hour services by means of veterinarians, nurses, and technicians who have been educated to treat patients with the goal of saving lives. The hospital is scheduled to open in March of 2024. Tata stated, "Pets are our family and their lives matter to every pet parent," in reference to the impending launch. Upon observing the dearth of pet-related infrastructure in India, I couldn't help but question why in suchAs one of India's top philanthropic organizations, we recognize the interdependencies between human and animal health and are dedicated to raising the standard of pet healthcare in the nation. Dr. Thomas Heathcote, Chief Veterinary Officer of the Advanced Veterinary Care Facility (ACVF), commented on the initiative. The hospital, which is scheduled to open in stages, will provide complete sophisticated healthcare for dogs along the whole spectrum, including high-level nursing care, diagnostics, treatment, and problem-solving. We also intend to foster a strong veterinary ecosystem in the city and run joint training programs in the upcoming months with Royal Veterinary College, London, the best veterinary school in the world.

The facility is located on an acre of property that Tata Trusts' Advanced Veterinary Care Facility (ACVF), located in Mahalaxmi, was given by The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). Phased rollout is planned, with a few facilities going live on day one: 24/7 triage and treatment services for emergency and critical care; inpatient and intensive care units (ICUs), including isolation units; surgery (soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, etc.); pharmacy services; diagnostics - radiology & imaging (MRI, X-ray, CT scan, & USG); laboratory - hematology, microbiology, cytology, clinical pathology, biochemistry, histopathology, and anesthesia;.
