A lesson from Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan behind the Congress leadershis decision in Karnataka

Every time Siddaramaiah has been questioned about rumors surrounding the Karnataka Chief Minister position over the last six months, he has said that he would resign at the request of the high command. This claim was likely motivated by the conviction that Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, would not approve of a change of leadership in the southern state. The internal power struggle between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot, which severely harmed the Congress party's reputation and stability in Rajasthan between 2020 and 2023, is referred to as the "lesson from Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan." Congress leaders now seem committed to preventing Siddaramaiah and D. K. Shivakumar from developing a similar rivalry in Karnataka.Pilot felt marginalized in Rajasthan even after he assisted the Congress in regaining power in 2018.

The protracted struggle for the chief minister's position ultimately resulted in a 2020 uprising, Pilot's expulsion from party positions, and years of internal strife between factions. The public dispute, according to many commentators, undermined Congress's organizational and political strength.Speculation over a leadership change has now increased in Karnataka, although the Congress high command is proceeding cautiously. Party officials are attempting to prevent open factional conflict and have officially denied any quick shift.
