In 2023, Top10VPN calculated the worldwide economic impact of shutdowns, which included 79,238 hours of government-mandated internet outages, to be $9.01 billion. This indicates that India was responsible for approximately 6.5% of the total economic damage caused by internet outages worldwide. The cost of these disruptions—which included significant ISP throttling, internet blackouts, and shutdowns of social media—was estimated using a variety of metrics from the US Census, the World Bank, the ITU, and Eurostat. In India, internet outages are not unusual. India experienced 92 internet shutdown occurrences in 2023, and just a few days into 2024, the nation has already recorded another internet outage, according to SFLC.in's internet shutdown tracker. Furthermore, the Center has a history of taking action against particular websites and pressuring social media companies to remove content at their request. Authorities have disagreed with digital rights advocates over shutdowns, despite citing grounds including putting an end to rumors and misinformation.Since many users rely on online services for information and business, internet disruptions come at a high cost since they reduce trade, which has an economic impact.

Many items in my business are designed: Piyush Pandey

I spent a brief time working at Ogilvy Mumbai in the early years of my profession. I was definitely looking forward to meeting Piyush and simply watching and learning from his talent. It was the strongest incentive to sign up. However, deep down I was also realistic about it. I was aware that he would never have a conversation with a junior. After joining, I came to the realization that he most likely would have, but I also understood it was impossible given the amount of work he had to accomplish each day. And boy, was I glad I was. Apart from the fact that he is an advertising genius, these are the things I picked up from him during my tenure, even though I never worked directly with him.I learned the power of words from him. On my first day there, I recall being sucked into a film short for a newly launched bank. I expected an assignment when I walked in, but instead I got a really good poem. It was exquisite. The story and the slogan were both brimming with skill. Written specifically for the pitch, Piyush delivered it to the group by reading it aloud. The client gave it their blessing because it was so clever. It was enjoyable to come up with ways to carry it out. That day made me proud to be a copywriter because he demonstrated to me the power of words to accomplish goals that so many rounds of PowerPoints couldn't. I learned from him that leaders are people too.Everyone gathered on the floor to celebrate Piyush's birthday by cutting cakes. He was asked to speak a few words, as custom would have it. He became so overcome by the festivities during his remarks that he started crying. The largest agency leader in our nation displayed weakness during a time when all of them exuded strength and conceit. Furthermore, this was taking place in front of 200 or more workers. And we all cherished it. He taught me early on that leaders are people too and that it's appropriate to occasionally display your feelings as a leader since it's the right thing to do.

Australia Scraps 'Golden Visa' Scheme For The Super Rich, To Be Replaced With...

After scrapping this program, the Australian Government will be focusing on issuing more visas to skilled workers instead. Australia has decided to scrap a major visa program that provided overseas wealthy investors with the right to live in the country. According to BBC, the scheme dubbed 'golden visa' was halted after the Australian government found that the visa program was not delivering the desired economic outcomes. Introduced in 2012, the 'golden visa' offered High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs) a way to gain permanent residency in Australia. ''It has been obvious for years that this visa is not delivering what our country and economy needs,'' Minister for Home Affairs Clare O'Neil said in a statement on Monday. After scrapping this programme, the Australian Government will be focusing on issuing more visas to skilled workers instead, capable ''of making outsized contributions to Australia.'' As per News.com.au, the visa allowed foreign nationals to stay in Australia for up to five years if they invest at least $5m in approved investments. Of this, a maximum of 60 per cent can be invested in non-residential real estate, corporate bonds, and shares. The program was designed to attract more foreign businesses and investors into the country. According to the Home Affairs Department, more than 100,000 overseas migrants have used one of the BIIP streams to gain residency in Australia since 2012. Of these, 85 percent are Chinese millionaires. Unlike other visa schemes, the golden visa did not require people to speak English and did not have any age limit. Critics argued that the scheme only allowed wealthy foreign nationals to park illegal funds in Australia. A review in 2016 showed that the policy had ''potential for money laundering and other nefarious activities.'' An inquiry by the Australian government also revealed that not only the 'golden visa' programme was misused, but it also allowed people with 'less business acumen' to reside in the country. Clancy Moore, the chief executive of Transparency International Australia, told the BBC, ''For far too long corrupt officials and kleptocrats have used golden visas as a vehicle to park their illicit funds in Australia and arguably hide their proceeds of crime." Similar investment visa schemes have been scrapped in Canada, Britain, and Singapore amid allegations that they have been abused by wealthy individuals and failed to benefit the countries themselves.

In Nepal, 2.5 Lakh Diya Lit Up To Celebrate Ram Temple Event

In the visuals captured by ANI drone, the light from 2.5 lakh oil-fed-lamp with Janaki Temple on background and surrounded by devotees looked mesmerizing. Janakpur : Devotees lit 2.5 lakh oil lamps in Janakpur, the home town of Goddess Sita, to celebrate the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya on Monday evening. The ancient city where King Janak, Father of Goddess Sita used to rule had started preparing for the celebration weeks before. The city is glowing with lamps and colorful decorations celebrating the son-in-law. Local groups had begun a campaign to collect all required and possible items such as diya, pala, oil and cotton lamps. Apart from it, a rangoli reading "Jai Siyaram" also was made using flowers and vermillion powders. In the visuals captured by ANI drone, the light from 2.5 lakh oil-fed-lamp with Janaki Temple on background and surrounded by devotees looked mesmerizing. It took about an hour to light up all the lamps and get to the glory which shined brightly as seen through the bird's eye view. Earlier in the day, rallies and celebratory events were held in the ancient city along with the screening of the Pran Pratistha of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Janakpur, the Chief Mahanth along with the Chotte Mahanth had attended the ceremony. The idol of Shri Ram Lalla was unveiled in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ayodhya who later led the rituals at the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in the sanctum sanctorum of the grand temple. The magnificent Ram Temple is constructed in traditional Nagara style. Its length (east-west) is 380 feet; width 250 feet and height is 161 feet; and is supported by a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors. The pillars and walls of the temple showcase intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses. In the main sanctum sanctorum at the ground floor, the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram (the idol of Shri Ramlalla) has been placed. The main entrance to the Mandir is situated on the eastern side, which can be approached by ascending 32 stairs through the Singh Dwar. There are a total of five Mandaps (Halls) in the Mandir - Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap and Kirtan Mandap. Near the Mandir is a historic Well (Sita koop), dating back to the ancient era. In the southwestern part of the Mandir complex, at Kuber Tila, the ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv has been restored, along with the installation of a statue of Jatayu. The idol of Lord Ram has been placed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple in Ayodhya. The idol of Ram Lalla is carved by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj. The idol is 51 inches tall and weighs 1.5 tons. The idol portrays Lord Ram as a five-year-old child standing on a lotus also crafted from the same stone.

How Ayodhya's Ram Temple Looks From Space. See Pics By India's Satellites

Ahead of the grand consecration ceremony at Ayodhya, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has given the country the first 'darshan' or glimpse of the magnificent Ram Temple as seen from space using our own indigenous satellites. The 2.7-acre Ram Temple site can be seen and an enlarged view of the same is also provided using the Indian Remote Sensing series of satellites. The under construction temple was captured on December 16 last year, just about a month ago. Since then, dense fog over Ayodhya has made it difficult to get a clear view.In the satellite images, Dashrath Mahal and Sarayu River are clearly seen. The newly renovated Ayodhya railway station is also visible.India currently has over 50 satellites in space, and some of them have a resolution of less than a metre. The image has been processed by the National Remote Sensing Centre in Hyderabad, a part of the Indian space agency.ISRO technologies have also been used at other stages of the temple's construction. A big challenge in the grand project was to identify the exact location to place the idol of Lord Ram. The trust entrusted with building the temple wanted the idol to be placed in a 3 feet X 6 feet space where Lord Ram is believed to have been born.Alok Sharma, International working President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, is closely involved with the Ram Temple project. He told NDTV that following the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992, 40 feet of debris covered the spot where Lord Ram is believed to have been born. This debris had to be removed and the location secured so that the new idol is exactly and precisely at that spot. This was easier said than done because construction of the temple began nearly three decades after the demolition. Then, space technology came to the rescue. To identify the exact spot, contractors for construction firm Larsen & Toubro used the most sophisticated Differential Global Positioning System (GPS)-based co-ordinates. The co-ordinates, precise to nearly 1-3 centimetres, were drawn up. They formed the basis for the placement of the statue in the temple's garba griha or sanctum sanctorum. The precision equipment used in these geographical instruments also incorporates precise location signals from India's own 'swadeshi GPS' -- the ISRO-made 'Navigation with Indian Constellation' or the NavIC satellite constellation.ISRO chairman S Somanath told NDTV that five satellites of the NAvIC constellation are working, and the system is currently set for an upgrade.

Consecration At Incomplete Ram Temple? Key Official Responds To Huge Row

Shankaracharyas are pontiffs of four mutts in four corners of the country -- Uttarakhand in the north, Odisha in the east, Karnataka in the south and Gujarat in the west. They are considered the tallest leaders of Hindu faith.Amid last-minute preparations for the consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, chairman of the temple construction committee Nripendra Misra has responded to the criticism by Hindu religious leaders Shankaracharyas and their decision to stay away from the event. While two of them have spoken out against the way the consecration ceremony is being organised and have said they won't attend it, the other two have been silent. Explaining why they won't be attending the event, leaders of the mutts in Odisha's Puri and Uttarakhand's Joshimath have flagged several points. They have said the pran pratistha should not be held before the temple construction is complete. They have also questioned why the Prime Minister will be inside the sanctum sanctorum when the Shankaracharyas have been allotted seats outside it. The event, they have alleged, is being given a political angle.Responding to the controversy in an exclusive chat with NDTV, Mr Misra said, "Shankaracharyas are dharm gurus. I am no one. They are responsible for the observants of Sanatan Dharma. Having said so, I want to give a message to the nation"."What we had announced was that Ram Lalla, the child Ram, will be in bhootal (the temple's ground floor). The bhootal will have the garba griha (sanctum sanctorum), five mandaps, (religious) iconography. That has been completed," Mr Misra explained. What remains incomplete is the first floor, he said. "The first floor is Ram Darbar. It's where Raja Ram comes, where he sits with Sita. On the first floor, you will have Ram, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman," he said.Listen to the latest songs, only on JioSaavn.com. A retired IAS officer, Mr Misra served as principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from 2014 to 2019. Following his retirement and in the aftermath of the Supreme Court judgment that cleared the path for the temple's construction, Mr Misra was appointed chairman of the construction committee in 2020.Speaking to NDTV, Mr Misra also listed the itinerary for tomorrow and explained step-by-step how a devotee would proceed towards 'darshan' of Lord Ram after she enters the temple.

On July 14, 2015, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft completed a historic encounter with the distant Pluto, making a close pass at a mere 7,750 miles (12,472 km) above its surface.New Horizons is the first and only spacecraft to approach Pluto, exploring this relic from the solar system’s formation. It covered a greater distance and duration (over nine years) than any previous deep space probe, upon reaching Pluto. The spacecraft navigated through a precise 36-by-57 miles (58 by 92 km) window in space, akin to a commercial airliner arriving with a precision no greater than the width of a tennis ball. This mission marked a groundbreaking achievement as New Horizons became the first-ever spacecraft to closely observe Pluto and its moons, including Charon, Nix, Hydra, Styx, and Kerberos. One of the initial and visually striking revelations from New Horizons was the discovery of a prominent heart-shaped feature on Pluto’s surface. Subsequent to this, on March 29, 2022, scientists unveiled that colossal ice volcanoes contribute to some of Pluto’s most intriguing surface characteristics. The evidence suggests ongoing geological activity, possibly with active eruptions still occurring.  Reflecting on the past year, it is astonishing to consider that we once had little insight into the nature of Pluto. However, the revelations quickly highlighted Pluto’s unique and unexpected qualities. The photo shared by @thebestfigen on social media platform X has triggered a wave of awe among netizens. With over 20k views, many users flooded the post expressing their astonishment and excitement. One user wrote, “I always thought Pluto would have a more vibrant color palette than this!” Another mentioned, “I want to see the funky aliens on the dark side of the moon.” A third added, “Amazing capture.” A fourth said, “Such a showstopper!”The beauty and complexity observed in Pluto and its moons have left us captivated, and anticipation for further discoveries remains high. It is noteworthy that New Horizons’ mission to Pluto stands out as a singular opportunity in the lifetimes of many, emphasising the exceptional nature of this space exploration endeavour.
