Since the post mentioned recently released products like the foldable OnePlus Open, OnePlus Buds Pro 2, and OnePlus Tab, some attention was also paid to ecosystem building. But no mention of ecosystem features was made. Additionally, the term "meticulous health monitoring" surfaced, suggesting that there may be significant improvements to the health tracking system. Some more important details about the upcoming smartwatch have leaked according to earlier reports. The Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset and a 1.43-inch AMOLED display are possible features of the OnePlus Watch 2. Although Wear OS is anticipated to run on it, it is unknown if Wear OS 3 or Wear OS 4 will be used. To confirm that it might be available in India at the same time as its global launch, a landing page has also been created on Amazon mentioning the same launch date and time.

Apple Reduces Prices On The iPhone 15 In China With An Unusual Discount.
Hong Kong: In response to increasing competitive pressure in the largest smartphone market in the world, Apple is offering unusual discounts on its iPhones in China, slashing retail prices by as much as 500 yuan ($70). On Monday, the US tech giant's Chinese website displayed a 5% price reduction on select iPhone models. The time-limited promotion, branded as a Lunar New Year event, will last from January 18 through January 21 in a lead-up to the holiday in mid-February. In China, sales of Apple's most recent iPhone 15 series of phones have been significantly lower than those of earlier models.Local competitors like Xiaomi and Huawei Technologies provide competitive models, and according to sources, some businesses and government agencies have been restricting employees' use of Apple devices, which is similar to the US government's ban on Chinese apps due to security concerns. According to a client note from Jefferies analysts, Chinese iPhone sales fell 30% in the first week of 2024 compared to the same period the previous year. Sales had already decreased 3% for the entire year of 2023. Analysts predict that this year will see more competition. For years, Apple has not lowered the cost of its most recent iPhone models. The cuts come after it surprised the market by not raising prices for the iPhone 15 series at its September launch.

Once more, Apple is not allowed to sell watches with blood oxygen sensors in the United States.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit announced on Thursday that Apple will once more be prohibited from selling watches equipped with blood oxygen sensors. Apple's attempt to overturn an ITC ban on the company selling the impacted watches in the US was not addressed by the court order issued on Wednesday. However, while that appeal is pending, it lifted an injunction that had prevented the ban from going into effect. An intellectual property dispute with the medical device company Masimo is the reason for the ban. In October, the International Trade Commission found that Apple’s blood oxygen sensors had infringed on Masimo’s intellectual property.During Wednesday afternoon trading, Apple shares saw a slight decline. Apple is not allowed to import the aforementioned devices, which include the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2. Retailers who still have the impacted watches in stock may continue to sell them, but Apple decided in December to temporarily remove them from both its online and physical stores. Earlier this week, court filings suggested that Apple had received approval from U.S. Customs for a modified version of its Apple Watches that lack the blood oxygen feature and therefore no longer infringe on Masimo’s intellectual property. It could open a path for a modified Apple Watch to return to U.S. store shelves. An Apple representative earlier this week declined to comment on the Customs decision. After turning down a partnership, Masimo had claimed that Apple had stolen some of its top executives and replicated its technology. Last month, Masimo CEO Joe Kiani told CNBC that his company is willing to reach a settlement with Apple. If Apple must continue to keep its latest smartwatches from U.S. stores, it could complicate repairs at Apple stores, which often swap broken devices with replacements. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the denial.
This soil-powered fuel cell, according to scientists, can "run forever."
A group out of Northwestern University in Illinois has created a novel fuel cell that they say can draw energy from soil-dwelling microorganisms. The fuel, which is about the size of a book, may be utilized to power subterranean sensors for precision farming and green infrastructure. It might develop into a viable, renewable replacement for batteries made of hazardous, flammable chemicals that seep into the earth when buried. Additionally, the resources needed to make batteries are obtained through supply chains impacted by conflict and add to the waste generated by electronics. The new fuel cell was tested by the researchers by powering touch and soil moisture sensor sensors. The results were published in the Proceedings of the Association for Computing Machinery on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable, and Ubiquitous Technologies. One can track passing animals with the former capability. In order to relay data to a nearby base station by reflecting pre-existing radio frequency signals, the researchers additionally equipped the soil-powered sensor with a tiny antenna. “The number of devices in the Internet of Things (IoT) is constantly growing. Even if we envision a world where trillions of these devices exist, we are unable to construct each and every one of them using hazardous materials like heavy metals, lithium, and environmental pollutants. We need to find alternatives that can provide low amounts of energy to power a decentralized network of devices. In a search for solutions, we looked to soil microbial fuel cells, which use special microbes to break down soil and use that low amount of energy to power sensors. As long as there is organic carbon in the soil for the microbes to break down, the fuel cell can potentially last forever,” said Northwestern alumnus Bill Yen, who led the work, in

This confirms the tipster's earlier assertion that the smartwatch will be unveiled on February 26–29, 2024, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.A 1.43-inch AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, and WearOS 3 or WearOS 4 are anticipated to be included with the OnePlus Watch 2. Additionally, it has been observed on the website of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) indicating an impending launch in India.
Samsung Combines Bixby With Galaxy AI
During its January Galaxy Unpacked event, which also marked the debut of the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung unveiled Galaxy AI, a new suite of AI-powered features. The Galaxy S24 series brought many new features, including Call Assist, Interpreter mode, Transcript Assist, and more. Currently, the massive South Korean tech company has worldwide integrated the AI capabilities with its built-in virtual assistant Bixby, enabling users to operate some of the features with simple voice commands. "With Bixby, users can quickly bring up and activate Galaxy AI features hands-free, taking away the need to physically search through your device to find the feature of your choice," Samsung said in a statement released through its global newsroom. Notably, Google Assistant for Android devices now works with its AI-powered chatbot app, Gemini, and users can configure it to be their default assistant. Users will be able to activate the feature by speaking directly to their Galaxy S24 series smartphone following this integration. An example is also highlighted in the post. Saying "Hello Bixby, turn on Interpreter" allows users to speak with someone who doesn't speak the same language as them without having to search for the feature on the phone.Originally introduced on February 16 in the US, this feature is now being rolled out worldwide. Chinese, English (US, UK, and India), French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain), and Spanish (Latin America) languages will all be supported by the AI-integrated Bixby. It should be mentioned that not every feature will be able to be accessed via voice commands. Features like Photo Editing and Instant Slow-Mo will still need to be accessed manually by users.Originally introduced on February 16 in the US, this feature is now being rolled out worldwide. A mid-range smartphone with ‘super’ display
After being away from the Indian market for three years, Honor came back in 2023 with a mid-range phone. Now, the company is launching its mid-tier Honor X9b.The Honor X9b comes at a time when the smartphone market is quite mature and fairly saturated. If you want to spend around Rs 25,000 on an Android phone, it is very unlikely that you will be stuck with a truly bad one unless you are intentionally deciding to make poor choices. With the X9b, Honor has seemingly decided to pin its hopes on what it is calling the “ultra-bounce anti-drop display,” which the company claims can withstand “1.2 times the impact of a drop, whatever that means. The truth of the matter is that I am not quite equipped to do the kind of specialised testing to see if those claims are true. Honor says that the X9b is the “first phone to get a five-star overall drop resistance certification from Switzerland’s SGS.”Certifications like this are meaningless unless they provide a benchmark to compare against. What I can say for the phone is that my clumsy self dropped it twice — once from my bed a foot or two above the ground and one from my table that is less than a metre above the ground. There was no damage. Also, my friend’s pet cockatiel Kiwi took a liking to perching on the phone when I held it up around him. Kiwi’s sharp claws scratch my shoulder when he sits on it, but it did nothing to the phone. Of course, I am not sure how much of that can be attributed to the applied screen protector and the free transparent case that comes with the phone. The massive 6.7-inch screen has a 2652×1200 (1.5k resolution), giving it a very high pixel density of 429 pixels per inch. The sides of the phone’s screen curve away from the user in a way that reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Maybe that is not what you remember that phone for. I am usually sceptical about phones that have a curved display because I am not sure how well they deal with palm rejection but that did not seem to be an issue here. That may be because the actual screen does not really curve as much as the glass’s design makes it appear.
Google Gemini App on Android, Gemini Toggle on iOS Rolling Out in India and Other Countries
Google has started rolling out its Gemini app on Android to users in India. While there's no dedicated app on iOS, iPhone owners will be able to see a toggle on the top of the Google app, allowing them to enable and utlise the features of the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot. The tech giant launched the Android app on February 8, but the rollout was limited to the US. Now, the app is being expanded to more than 150 countries and territories. According to Google's support page, the Gemini mobile app is now available in English, Korean, and Japanese languages and is being expanded to more than 150 countries and territories. The full list of countries is listed on Google's support page. The iPhone users don't have a dedicated app at the moment, but they can use Gemini's AI capabilities through the Google app, which now has a toggle button on the top-right that allows access to the chatbot. Gadgets 360 was able to confirm the availability of the Gemini toggle on the Google app on iOS 17.2.1. The Gemini app requires a smartphone with at least 4GB of RAM. It must also run Android 12 or newer versions of Google's operating system. Similarly, the Gemini toggle is available to iPhone users running iOS 16 and newer. As the AI service is only available in English, Japanese, and Korean, it will only be available on smartphones set to use these languages. Lastly, users should be signed in to a personal Google Account or a Workspace account where the administrator has enabled the feature. In case, you still cannot see the app or the toggle, it is worth noting that the global rollout started on Thursday and is expected to continue for a few more days. Jack Krawczyk, Senior Director of Product at Google, who is also handling Gemini, revealed in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Gemini app's restrictions on image uploading and image generation were being somewhat relaxed. However, he added, “We'll continue to work through responsibly aligning on refusals with both images and text.” More features and expansion to more regions are currently in progress, as per the Gemini head. Some users who added Gemini as the default assistant over Google Assistant in Android smartphones had complained that there was no clarity on which in-device features was the AI capable of performing. Krawczyk said in a post on Wednesday, “Working on making it more clear exactly which Assistant features are work in progress vs which are available now. (also working on narrowing that gap!)”
