TikTok beats YouTube in launching native Apple Vision Pro app

TikTok has joined the expanding library of apps on the visionOS App Store, releasing a new native experience for Apple’s Vision Pro headset. The announcement came Thursday via a post on the popular X social media platform. The platform now offers Vision Pro users an immersive way to view short-form videos on the new device, providing a spatial computing experience optimised for the headset’s capabilities. The addition of TikTok is a major coup for Apple, given the app’s immense popularity among Gen Z users. The app’s spatial computing experience could highlight the Vision Pro’s capabilities for consuming short-form video. Initially, there were concerns about limited native app experiences for the Vision Pro upon launch. Early January reports suggested only around 150 available apps. However, this number quickly grew to 600 by early February. Currently, app engagement remains relatively low. Many developers report download figures in the mere hundreds. However, as more well-known apps become available, engagement will likely improve. Native app support has been a struggle, with major players like YouTube, Spotify and Netflix initially declining Vision Pro app development. In fact, lack of proper app support was one of the most commonly cited reasons for returning the headset – aside from the weight and discomfort, of course. However, earlier this month, YouTube did confirm plans to launch a Vision Pro app. This indicates TikTok may soon face competition from YouTube’s Shorts feature.

With the proposed merger of its Indian arm with Zee terminated, Sony will seek various options, including finding another opportunity to replace the plan and organic growth opportunities in India, which has great potential in the long term, according to a top company official. In an earnings call, Hiroki Totoki, president, COO & CFO of Sony said India is a very appealing market where it would continue to invest. "India on a long term basis has a great growth potential. It's a very appealing market. Therefore, we will try to seek various opportunities and if we can find another opportunity that would replace this type of plan," Totoki said when asked about the company's strategy in India after the termination of the proposed merger. On the investment which Sony had committed as part of the deal, he said:"Well, that investment is not going to change a capital allocation or it will not change our behaviour in our investment. So at the moment, we do not have any concrete plans." The earnings call was held on February 14. As per the merger conditions, which was agreed upon between Sony and ZEEL, the Japanese giant was also supposed to invest USD 1.5 billion in the merged entity. The group will also continue to pursue organic growth as per its strategy in India, where it operates through Culver Max Entertainment (earlier known as Sony Pictures Network India), he said in the investors call.

The trailer opens with Emraan Hashmi's character Raghu Khanna, the son of a well-known producer played by Naseeruddin Shah, proclaiming the legacy of the family studio. Raghu aims to make it a high-powered film and is focusing on making major Bollywood hits that generate significant profits. However, his approach is challenged by journalist Mahika Nandy, who is also trying to create her own niche as a filmmaker. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya Box Office Collection Day 4: The Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer seems to have failed the crucial first Monday test. Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya established a strong foothold in theaters in its first week of release. The romantic comedy (with a sci-fi twist) opened with a collection of Rs 6.7 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 9.65 crore on Saturday and double figures on Sunday (Rs 10.75 crore). But on Monday, the film's earnings dropped by a whopping nearly 65 percent. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya earned Rs 3.75 crore on its first Monday. After four days, the film's domestic box office collection stands at Rs 30.85 crore. The film had an Indian share of 11.06% and the night screenings were the most attended. While box office numbers are expected to drop on weekdays, the revival of films on weekends is significant. Whether Teri Baaton Mein has… enough gas in the tank to last a few more days remains to be seen. According to production company Maddock Films, the film registered "Shahid Kapoor's highest overseas weekend collection surpassing his hit Kabir Singh" when it grossed $2.4 million. Proud of you FIGHTER!” wrote Hrithik on his Instagram about the milestone release of Story's Fighter. Fighter, which released a day before Republic Day on January 25, was made on a budget of Rs 250 crore. The film earned Rs 24.60 crore on its first day and had a total occupancy of 21.17 percent in Hindi. It has faced challenges at the box office in recent weeks..According to trade website Sacnilk, Fighter grossed Rs 0.76 crore (estimated) from February 12, taking the domestic total to Rs 197.66 crore.
