In an attempt to address the childcare crisis, an East Palo Alto mother opens a daycare.
One Bay Area mother hopes to close the gap by opening a daycare from her house as California continues to struggle with a shortage of childcare resources.We offer curricula for preschoolers, toddlers, and newborns. Maribel Aguilar, the owner of Apolo Daycare and Preschool, told CBS News Bay Area, "We even like for them to explore and to be exposed and this is really important for them, especially with the little ones for more sensorial activities."The daycare is a Spanish language immersion program situated in East Palo Alto. "I can build that community, so it's incredibly essential to me. And that's what matters most in my life; I just want to serve and encourage others. And I believe that this job gave me the chance to do that," Aguilar stated.She wanted to find out what she could do in her life to support other parents after moving to East Palo Alto from Mexico around two years ago.Now, Aguilar's interest is her daycare service, which looks after kids from one to five years old. "They think highly of themselves. "They can acquire problem-solving skills," Aguilar stated. For many of the kids, Spanish is their first language. She talked about how raising her kids as a single parent had presented numerous challenges. When she was working, she wished there had been more resources available to care for her kids. Currently, she aspires to assist working parents in the Bay Area."Finding the perfect person to look after my girls and a space for them to run between jobs was incredibly difficult for me. At the time, it was really stressful. I can now assist other mothers, particularly when they are by themselves, thanks to this program," Aguilar added. She went on to say that the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center's assistance made her dream come true. She completed ten courses and received funding from the center to launch her daycare. "No one is truly born with the ability to handle operations, marketing, or accounting. Therefore, we support them by assisting them in turning their concepts into a successful company. Cricket Australia created the Multicultural Action Plan with the express purpose of combating racism.First and foremost, I believe we must recognize that racism is still there in society and hasn't disappeared. It remains. And regrettably, it will be there for a while," Michael Napper, the creator of Cricket Australia's program to interact with multicultural audiences, told The Indian Express from Melbourne."We understand that something shouldn't exist in sports. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigns from the office and lands at Hindon Air force Station near Delhi, at 5:36 pm on August 5, 2024. The move came as a result of series of protests happening in the country, in which around 300 people have already lost their lives. After Sheikh Hasina left the country with her sister, protestors stormed inside the Prime Minister House. Amidst the turmoil Bangladesh Army Chief, Waker Uz Zaman has said that an interim government will be formed and the injustices will be addressed. As a neighboring country, India is also going to face challenges because of the sudden turn of events. In the border areas which are already facing heavy unemployment and corruption, these events could pose even more challenges. West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has urged the people to maintain peace. The turmoil has halted travel between India and Bangladesh. Air India has cancelled all the scheduled flights to and from Dhaka with immediate effect. It’s time for India to look towards this pressing issue in our neighboring country.

Automakers request a review of the emergency braking rule from a US body.
June 24, Washington, DC (Reuters) - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was urged to reevaluate the April rule mandating nearly all new vehicles and trucks to have enhanced automatic emergency braking systems by 2029 by a group representing major automakers.Nearly all other automakers, along with the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, which represents General Motors (GM.N), Toyota Motor (7203.T), and Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE), have stated that the April requirement, which stipulates that all cars and trucks must be able to stop and avoid striking vehicles in front of them at up to 62 miles per hour, is "practically impossible with available technology."Automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems use cameras and radar to detect when a vehicle is close to crashing and then automatically apply brakes if the driver has not applied the brakes. Congress directed NHTSA to create a rule to establish minimum performance standards for AEB systems in the 2021 infrastructure law.According to the group, cars will "automatically apply the brakes far in advance of what a typical driver and others on the road would expect" as a result of the NHTSA's strict criteria at greater driving speeds, which could lead to rear-end collisions. Also, it said that NHTSA "vastly underestimated the amount of expensive hardware and software changes that automobiles would need to comply with. According to the auto group's CEO John Bozzella, the agency rejected automakers' concerns and the regulation "points to the breakdown of a deliberative rulemaking process at the country’s top traffic safety watchdog." "NHTSA’s action will require more costly systems that won’t improve driver or pedestrian safety," Bozzella wrote in a letter to Congress. One of the most comprehensive auto safety laws passed in the United States in recent memory is the mandate. Safety advocates claimed that the current systems were not operating well, particularly at night. They claim the new regulations are necessary to guarantee fewer collisions.
