Protests Over Gaza Spark Clashes in Italy

Protests erupted in several Italian cities as demonstrators took to the streets demanding action and greater solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The marches, held in Rome, Milan, and Naples, drew hundreds of people, including students, activists, and members of civil society groups. Many carried signs condemning the ongoing violence in Gaza and called on the Italian government to take a stronger stance.
Tensions escalated when police attempted to block parts of the demonstrations. In Rome, clashes broke out near government buildings as officers in riot gear confronted protestors. Videos shared on social media showed scuffles and a few arrests, though no serious injuries were reported.
Protesters voiced frustration over what they see as political indifference to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza. “We are here because silence is not an option,” one demonstrator in Milan said. “People are suffering, and our government can’t keep looking away.”
While most gatherings remained peaceful, the confrontations have raised concerns about rising tensions and the space for public dissent. Organizers say they plan to continue demonstrations in the coming weeks.
