WWE Video With The Rock Is Met With Strong Opposition

Fans of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) were taken aback when The Rock made an appearance on SmackDown on February 3 and made a hint about a potential WrestleMania 40 matchup with Roman Reigns, the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. The crowd was taken aback because they thought Reigns would square off against Cody Rhodes, the 2024 Royal Rumble winner. Although the return of a major celebrity like The Rock was a huge step forward, some fans of professional wrestling did not take kindly to it. With over 500,000 dislikes on social media, the segment featuring The Rock and Roman Reigns has become the most disliked video in the history of the company.

Supporters of Cody Rhodes, who currently has a sizable fan base, have been vocal about the change in plans and have even taken to social media to express their support.

The company, which is already dealing with a lot of negative publicity from the Vince McMahon scandals, is very concerned about the fan response. After facing allegations of rape and sex trafficking, WWE co-founder McMahon left the organization and TKO Group Holdings, the company's parent company. According to media reports, CM Punk was scheduled to face World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins as the main event of Day 1 of WrestleMania 40, while Rhodes and Reigns were supposed to square off against each other. But Punk's injury appears to have altered WWE's intentions.

In a brief confrontation with Reigns during the SmackDown episode, Rock hinted that the two of them might square off in a high-stakes match at WrestleMania 40. Nevertheless, the match can also be used for the Elimination Chamber, which will occur in Australia.
