NEET PG 2024: Although the issue of open seats may be momentarily resolved by lowering the NEET PG cut-off, there are worries about the long-term effects on the standard of medical education and healthcare in India. The medical community is not happy with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's (MoHFW) recent decision to lower the NEET PG 2024 qualifying percentage. According to the updated requirements, candidates in the general and EWS categories must score in the 15th percentile or higher, while those in the SC, ST, OBC, and PwD categories must score in the 10th percentile in order to be eligible for counseling.
According to NMC officials, the action is intended to fill open postgraduate medical seats nationwide. On the ramifications of the lowered cut-off, experts disagree. Others worry it lowers the standard of medical education and training, while others see it as an essential step to fill open seats. The decision was criticized by Dr. Shubham Anand, national chairman of the Global Association of Indian Medical Students (GAIMS) and a junior resident at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. He emphasized how unanticipated growth in medical schools and postgraduate enrollment, along with loose regulations, has resulted in medical graduates who lack the necessary training.
