The family of CBSE Class 12 student Vedant Srivastava, who claimed he received the incorrect Physics exam sheet and was subjected to internet mocking, is the source of the "We are not Pakistani" statement.Vedant requested a scanned copy of his answer sheet under CBSE's new On-Screen Marking (OSM) method after receiving an unexpectedly low score. After looking over the given document, he saw that the answers, penmanship, and spacing were different from his own.Internet users discovered that his family's X (previously Twitter) account displayed "South Asia" rather than India due to a location problem. Trolls mistakenly identified the student and his family as Pakistani and questioned their legitimacy, which resulted in a significant internet backlash.
The family issued a statement defending their nationality, clarifying that the geographical setting was an error, and outlining the challenges they encountered with the official revaluation channels when the outcry went public. Soon after, CBSE contacted the family, admitted the error, and gave Vedant his actual physics answer sheet. The board has now acknowledged the error and provided the correct answer script to a Delhi student who claimed that the Physics answer sheet uploaded under his CBSE roll number belonged to someone else. This has partially resolved an unusual and extensively discussed Class XII evaluation controversy.Vedant, the student whose posts on X prompted a broader discussion on CBSE's new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, stated on Monday night that after analyzing the situation, CBSE officials had gotten in touch with the family and given the right Physics answer sheet.
