The first HMD Global phone in India to get the update is apparently the Nokia G42 5G, which is purportedly getting the Android 14 update. The most recent version of the Android operating system was unveiled at the Google I/O conference in May 2023. The Google Pixel 8 series was the first to receive the update when it was released in October of the same year. Since then, a number of smartphone manufacturers have begun to implement it into their models, including Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and others. HMD Global has now joined the list. The OTA update also reportedly includes the December 2023 Android security patch.
The Android 14 update for the Nokia G42 5G is reportedly being released in India and a few other countries, according to a report by Nokia Power User. Although we were unable to verify whether the update is actually being distributed, don't worry if you haven't received it yet. These updates are released in batches, so it could take a few days for the update to reach every Indian household. In the upcoming weeks, it is anticipated that the update will be released in more markets.
According to reports, the December 2023 security patch is included in the V2.160 version of the OTA update. The update is purported to be 2.68 GB in size overall. The Nokia G42 5G's health features are being expanded with Android 14, which comes with extra vision and hearing-inclusive features, according to the official changelog shared by Nokia Power User.
With this update, the Nokia G42 5G will get access to standard Android 14 features like customizable lock screens, AI-generated wallpapers, and support for Ultra HDR images. It is anticipated that the Nokia X30 5G and G605 5G will receive the Android 14 update first. HMD Global has not yet disclosed the complete list of Nokia devices that will receive the update.
