Delhi, New: According to sources, the CBI has been requested by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi to look into claims of corruption related to diagnostic tests performed at the Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics in Delhi.According to accounts, the Mohalla Clinics performed fictitious pathology and radiological exams on empty patients. On September 20, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also brought attention to the issue, and as a result, seven physicians employed at Mohalla Clinics were relieved.
While some doctors would arrive at the clinics well after others and yet record full attendance, others would skip work entirely. The health secretary is expected to be fired by the Delhi administration, according to sources. Only a few days prior, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct an additional investigation into the purported provision of inferior medications to government hospitals in Delhi. Initial examination into the Mohalla Clinic scandal revealed that doctors who had not been visiting the clinics were listed as present. According to accounts, the clinics kept ordering diagnostic tests for individuals who didn't exist.
