In the upcoming days, it is anticipated that the legal struggle over the demand to regularize the appointment of about eighty academics on deputation to the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) throughout Kerala will continue.A portion of employment applicants contested this in both the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) and the Kerala High Court, notwithstanding the lecturers' claim to be appointed on a regular basis. The lecturers' petition has been rejected by the General Education department, which ordered them to return to their parent schools in an order dated January 5.
A similar directive had been issued earlier, on November 18, 2023, by the Director of General Education. But the academics succeeded in getting a stay from the KAT by insisting that the government hear their side of the story in its entirety. Following this, the authorities heard the lecturers' and those who disputed their claims' arguments. These discussions preceded the issuance of the most recent order. In October 2023, the court granted a temporary order requesting that the authorities refrain from regularizing the services of deputation professors.
The legal maze surrounding the appointment is likely to continue since the deputation lecturers intend to contest the most recent ruling.
