Car makers are required to recycle at least 8% of the steel used in 2005–06 automobiles starting in April. The percentage rises to 18% by 2035–2036. End-of-life vehicle collection and recycling must be done safely. They must raise customer awareness and buy EPR certifications from scrapping facilities. As of right now, the nation has 82 registered vehicle scrapping facilities.According to new government laws, automakers in India will soon have to recycle some of the steel used in their cars. At least 8% of the steel used in cars sold in 2005–06 must be recycled by manufacturers starting in April, according to ToI. By 2035–2036, this requirement—which is a component of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) norm—will progressively rise to 18%.

According to the new regulations, recycling steel is linked to cars that are 20–21 years old. The environment ministry announced this week that the Environment Protection (End-of-Life cars) Rules require the safe collection and recycling of these cars. Manufacturers must purchase EPR certifications from approved scrapping facilities in order to demonstrate compliance and satisfy annual requirements.
