Rani Mukerji discussed at FICCI Frames how Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan endured and altered the course of not only Yash Raj Films but also subsequent theatrical releases. Recently, Mumbai's FICCI Frames event was attended by actor Rani Mukerji. During the function, Rani praised Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan for changing the game for Yash Raj Films and for paving the way for its theatrical releases. She talked about how her husband, Aditya Chopra, refused to give in to the pandemic's demand and released some of their biggest movies on Netflix. "During the pandemic, Adi (Aditya Chopra) had these couple of big films that were to be released," Rani stated during the event. These were the commercial potboilers that first appeared prior to the pandemic. Regretfully, every movie had a question mark on it when the epidemic broke out. And since there were no discussions about new movie releases at that time, I watched my spouse quite carefully. Filmmakers were under intense pressure to release their films on over-the-top platforms (OTT), and many of them were complying. On OTT, the biggest movies were being released. And my hubby was very composed and at ease. "I would use the word 'conviction' that my husband had," she continued. "He said, 'These movies were made for theatricals, for the enjoyment of the general public.'" These movies should be released in theaters, in my opinion. A substantial sum of money was being offered to him in exchange for a profit-sharing arrangement that would benefit both the producers and the OTT platform. Rani Mukerji went on to say that at a difficult period, Yash Raj Films' situation was transformed by Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan.
"When the movies came out, they were all box office failures because, all of a sudden, OTT changed the way people watched content," the speaker stated. Because none of these movies did well at the box office, the industry as a whole suffered greatly. was comparable to total depression. In our company, people were depressed over Adi's belief that his films will be released in theaters. Everything kind of didn't work out for us, but we still believed that there would be some sort of divine intervention and that he would be rewarded for his conviction that movies should be released theatrically. Pathaan then appeared. It brought about a complete transformation at Yash Raj. And it ended up becoming the highest-grossing movie.
