Indra Mani Pandey Assumes Secretary-General Position of BIMSTEC

After Tenzin Lekphell of Bhutan stepped down, India's seasoned diplomat, Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey, assumed the role of Secretary General of BIMSTEC.An important milestone was reached when seasoned Indian diplomat Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey formally became the Secretary General (SG) of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). With the appointment of Ambassador Pandey, who will follow Tenzin Lekphell of Bhutan, the organization enters a significant new phase of its leadership.Fourth Secretary General of BIMSTEC Tenzin Lekphell is succeeded as Secretary General of BIMSTEC by Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey. A press release from the foreign ministry made the official announcement, stating that Ambassador Pandey will take up the role for a period of three years. Pleasant Welcome in Dhaka The same day, Ambassador Pandey arrived in Dhaka and was greeted with warmth by the foreign ministry's Director General (SAARC & BIMSTEC), Abdul Motaleb Sarker, as well as other Directors of the BIMSTEC Secretariat.

The reception emphasized the value of collaboration and diplomatic ties within the BIMSTEC framework.Dedicated to the Vision of BIMSTEC Speaking to the BIMSTEC Secretariat's directors and members, Ambassador Pandey vowed to work hard to see that the member states' lofty goals were realized. With an emphasis on revitalized energy, he committed to helping member states expand and strengthen their cooperation by adhering to the seven collaborative pillars that the leaders of BIMSTEC had agreed upon. Outstanding Diplomatic Career Since 1990, Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey has served as a career diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service. He was India's Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva prior to taking on the position of Secretary General at BIMSTEC.

His extensive background in international affairs puts him in a good position to handle the opportunities and problems that Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey, a prominent diplomat of India, assumed the role of Secretary General (SG) of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) on Thursday in Dhaka.
