The action was taken in the midst of growing criticism and a lawsuit brought by the family of a 16-year-old who committed suicide, claiming the AI chatbot was responsible for his demise. Under the new precautions, users under the age of eighteen will automatically activate a "teen-friendly" version of ChatGPT. Stricter content filters will be included in this version to block sensitive subjects including self-harm conversations and explicit sexual material. "Safety ahead of privacy and freedom for teens," according to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, is a significant philosophical shift in the company's approach to AI ethics.Highlights of the New Teen Safety Plan: Age Forecast Technology: Based on a user's interaction patterns, OpenAI is creating a system to determine the user's age. The safer, under-18 experience will be used by default if the system is unsure.
