The XR designer and developer from Mumbai explains how he got started on "Sign of Doom," the augmented reality game for Snap's Spectacles eyewear. One of the first Indian developers to have access to Snap's fifth-generation Spectacles—a developer-only pair of spectacles with augmented reality capabilities—was freelance AR developer Jeetesh Singh.Snap Inc., the company that owns Snapchat, wants to create AR content for its Spectacles more quickly and is seeking to young Lens developers like Singh to create engaging AR experiences. The business wants to make it simpler to introduce AR lenses into glasses by utilizing the current ecosystem and developers who are already familiar with Lens Studio.

"I was concentrating on creating a new gesture that would be enjoyable and easy to use, as well as on creating a novel experience using both hands, in order to create a unique interaction." That's how I began creating this experience, followed by a story, and then the game," Singh explained.“I was initially building some small experiences on my Spectacles, but I couldn’t come up with a specific idea that I could turn into a full-fledged application. However, when I thought about this game and the type of experience I wanted to develop, I felt this would be engaging and have the potential to be something people might want to play,” said Singh, a computer engineer.According to Singh, "Sign of Doom" is a first-person shooter game in which the universe is overrun by aliens and a portal has been broken. You take on the role of a player who uses their hands to hold mystical signals throughout the game. Different kinds of aliens with varying strengths appear at different levels as they attempt to shoot at you. Your hand emits energy bursts when you form an Illuminati sign. You advance to a higher level as your score increases. You can compete with gamers from across the world on the game's leaderboard. "Sign of Doom" is set entirely in three dimensions and has a Dragon Ball Z feel to it, but it was created especially for Snap's Spectacles AR glasses.
