Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who is the first Indian to arrive at the International Space Station (ISS), has been named the brand ambassador for Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, which is India’s largest school hackathon to date. The Buildathon, organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog, seeks to involve more than one crore students from 1.5 lakh schools in the process of generating ideas, designing, and constructing prototypes that tackle real-world problems. This far-reaching initiative corresponds with the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047, the national vision for 2047, and seeks to foster creativity, innovation, and self-reliance in young people in India.What does Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 entail? On September 23, 2025, the Ministry of Education, together with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and AICTE, launched the Buildathon. Its goal is to involve students from Classes VI to XII throughout India. It is anticipated that more than 1.5 lakh schools will take part, engaging over one crore students. This initiative is in line with India’s Viksit Bharat @ 2047 vision, which emphasizes self-reliance, innovation, and inclusive prosperity.What is the Buildathon’s uniqueness? The Buildathon, which commenced on September 23, 2025, encourages students from grades 6 to 12 to join together in teams and engage in a nationwide innovation initiative.

The live event is scheduled for October 13, with the announcement of winners set for December.
