From bicycle tutor to coaching giant Who is Shivraj Motegaonkar, the 10th arrest by CBI in NEET paper leak case

One of Maharashtra's most well-known coaches is at the center of the suspected NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case following the CBI's arrest of Shivraj Motegaonkar, proprietor of Latur-based RCC Classes. After being questioned twice in a week, Motegaonkar was taken into custody on Sunday. He was allegedly a "active member" of the network that disseminated and leaked NEET-UG 2026 question papers prior to the exam on May 3, according to the CBI. He is the eighth individual the CBI has detained in relation to the case.Around 12:30 pm, a CBI inspector was leaving Motegaonkar's house when reporters questioned him about the investigation into the crime. He refused to respond. In conjunction with the document leak investigation, the CBI arrived in Latur on Wednesday and arrested P V Kulkarni, a retired faculty member who taught chemistry at a nearby institution. According to the officials, Kulkarni served on the NEET paper-setting committee for the chemistry topic and retired from a reputable college four years ago.Due to claims of a paper leak, the May 3 NEET (UG) 2026 exam for admission to undergraduate programs in medical institutes was canceled on May 12. The CBI was requested by the government to conduct an investigation.

A father of a student filed a complaint at the Latur Superintendent of Police's office on Tuesday, alleging that 42 questions from a mock exam administered by a private coaching center in Latur were the same as those found in the NEET exam. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sameersinh Salve was instructed by Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe to look into the allegation.In this regard, the police have also questioned six people in Latur, including counselors, students, and coaching staff. Additionally, they have confiscated CCTV recordings from two coaching facilities. Three people from Maharashtra were detained by the CBI prior to Kulkarni's imprisonment in Latur: beautician Manisha Waghmare from Pune, Shubham Khairnar (30) from Nashik, and Dhananjay Lokhande (26) from Rahuri in Ahilyanagar.
