Aruna Nayar assumes leadership as the Railway Board Secretary.

New Delhi: Former Secretary of the Railway Board Aruna Nayar is a prominent 1987 Batch Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) official who is empanelled at Level-16. Aruna Nayar's appointment, which will take effect on January 6, 2024, is significant because she is the first IRPS officer to be empanelled in IRMS at Level-16.New Delhi: Aruna Nayar, a well-known 1987 Batch Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) official, was the Secretary of the Railway Board before becoming an empanelled Level-16 official. The appointment of Aruna Nayar, which will become effective on January 6, 2024, is noteworthy since it makes her the first IRPS officer to be empanelled at Level-16 in IRMS.On January 5, 2024, the Cabinet Appointments Committee named her to the vital post of Secretary, Railway Board at IRMS Level-16.

Aruna Nayar, who worked for the railways in a variety of roles, brings a plethora of expertise to her new position. She has held a number of positions in the Railway Recruitment Board (Chennai), the Railway Divisions of Chennai & Palghat, the Golden Rock Workshop & Division at Tiruchirapalli, and the Eastern Railway as Principal Chief Personnel Officer (PCPO), Deputy CPO at Metro Railway/Kolkata, and PCPO in Southern Railway, among others. From 2005 to 2009, Aruna Nayar also held the position of Director (Pers) in the Ministry of Communications & IT's Department of Information Technology, working under the Central Staffing Scheme.Her educational background comprises a bachelor's degree from St. Stephens College, Delhi University; a master's degree from Delhi University; and, in 2009, as part of her in-service training, a master's degree in public policy from the Australian National University.The recently appointed Railway Board Secretary, Aruna Nayar, is on a mission to completely reimagine the Indian Railways.
