Alia Bhatt shaken over killing of juvenile elephant in Poacher awareness video, says it gave her chills: ‘Murder is murder

Days after Alia Bhatt joined Prime Video's crime drama miniseries Poacher as an executive producer, the makers have released a teaser video based on the upcoming show, in which the National Award-winning actress offers a glimpse into the world and story of Poacher.
Set in a forest, the 120-second video begins with a group of forest officials combing the area as Alia Bhatt enters the frame. Visibly upset, Alia walks through the lights set up for visibility in the desert. "Ashok's murder was reported at 9 o'clock this morning," are his thoughts. "The third of this month. His body was lifeless... mutilated... Ashok was only 10 years old. He never saw his killers.. As the female officer crosses Ali to collect evidence, we hear, "They might think they can get away with it. But they won't. The fact that Ashok wasn't one of us doesn't make this crime any less serious."
Over the scary background music, she asserts: "Because murder is murder" as the camera pans to the ground where dried leaves outline the elephant's body and bloodstains are nearby. Sharing the teaser on Instagram, Alia wrote, "I spent less than a day in the jungle making this awareness video and I'm still chilling. Murder is murder... and I can't wait for you to see the whole story with Richie Mehta and our star cast ." Created and directed by Richie Mehta, creator of the Emmy Award-winning Delhi Crime, Poacher stars Nimisha. Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Kani Kusruti, Ranjitha Menon and Maala Parvathi. The series will be released on Amazon Prime Video on February 23, 2024..
