Have you ever noticed the red stripe on some prescription labels? It's not only ornamental! This seemingly insignificant detail conveys important information about the medication inside. The issue? A lot of people overlook this important hint, which may result in taking medication without a prescription. Furthermore, self-medication can be dangerous—sometimes even fatal, as we all know.   In an advisory released on Sunday, the Ministry of Health addressed this problem by stressing the significance of focusing on a particular detail found on the back label. This detail has the potential to affect the safety and efficacy of your medication.

According to the ministry, pharmacies are only permitted to dispense these medications in conjunction with a legitimate medical prescription.Antibiotic resistance is avoidable! The Ministry of Health stated on X that a RED LINE on the medication strip suggests that the medication should not be taken without a prescription.

Therefore, it is equally important to note whether the medicine's packet has a red stripe on it as it is to check the medicine's expiration date.
In the meantime, the health ministry announced on Friday that India has won the coveted Measles and Rubella Champion Award in honor of the nation's valiant efforts to fight these infectious diseases.
