Kuwait's main news agency reported that early on June 3, 2026, Iranian drones and missiles attacked the "T1" building of the country's international airport, resulting in injuries. The authorities have also had to reroute flights due to the attack. The drone attack followed a missile exchange between Iran and the United States late on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. The U.S. military claimed to have attacked an Iranian military site in response for Iranian missiles fired at Bahrain and Kuwait. The U.S. military previously reported that three Iranian missiles launched at Bahrain were intercepted by U.S. and Bahraini forces, while two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait failed or broke apart en route.
The U.S. military claimed to have carried out self-defense strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island and "successfully defeated" a string of Iranian missile and drone attacks in the Gulf. Additionally, U.S. Central Command refuted Iran's Revolutionary Guards' allegations that they had attacked a different air base in the area as well as the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.
