Venice is addressing overtourism by introducing daily tickets. A five-euro ticket is required for entry into the historic city centre between April 25 and July 14. In an effort to combat overtourism in the well-known Italian city of Venice, tickets for day trippers planning to visit the city in the upcoming months went on sale on Tuesday. A five-euro ticket is required for entry into the ancient city centre between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm on 29 of the busiest days, which are April 25 through July 14.

On Tuesday, the ticket purchasing website, available in both Italian and English, went live at https://cda.ve.it/en/. There are some exemptions, including those for commuters, residents' close relatives, and children under the age of 14. Residents and those who were born in the municipality are exempt and just need to present their identity cards. The programme, which was approved last year, does not yet have an entry cap. Years had passed as officials discussed the best ways to control the millions of tourists that flock to the well-known city to see attractions like St. Mark's Square, the Rialto Bridge, and its endless gorgeous canals.
