Vandana Gupta Takes on the Role of Controller General of Communication Accounts

Ms. Vandana Gupta has officially assumed the role of Controller General of Communication Accounts (CGCA) in New Delhi, marking a significant advancement under the Ministry of Communications and amid the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav festivities. Her advancement to the Apex Grade highlights a career characterized by excellence, service, and leadership within India’s communications and financial administration sectors.Ms. Gupta is an officer of the Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IP&TAFS) from the 1990 batch. She has occupied multiple key roles in various telecom circles, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat, over the past thirty years.

Her positions at the headquarters of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Department of Posts (DoP) have showcased her profound comprehension of India’s communication infrastructure and financial governance.Ms. Gupta has also worked on central deputation in well-known national institutions beyond her home cadre. She served as the Principal Director at the Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board (GASAB), which operates under the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in Delhi. Her extensive policy and administrative skills are evidenced by her time serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) and at the National Commission for Women (NCW). Her portfolio was further diversified by her time as the Controller of Finance at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU).As of September 22, 2025, Ms. Vandana Gupta occupies the position of Controller General of Communication Accounts. Having been inducted into the IP&TAFS in 1990, she has extensive experience in central ministries and state circles. She has previously held positions such as Principal Director at GASAB (CAG), Joint Secretary in MoWCD, and Finance Controller at GGSIPU. The CGCA supervises telecom finance, audits, and USOF operations.
