As overpopulation becomes a global problem, tourists, especially Indians, are looking for unusual places to visit. However, social media has made the quest paradoxical.It used to be an annual or biannual event to travel, perhaps 15 to 20 years ago. It would primarily refer to family trips that would take place in India. However, a number of factors—the first being influencer culture—are to blame for the significant shift in how we travel over the past several years.Retaliation travel gained popularity after the epidemic and, based on appearances, never really faded. In retaliation for losing out on the two years of lockdown caused by the pandemic, individuals began traveling to other locations after it ended.Around this time, vloggers and travel influencers also became popular, offering advice on where, when, and how to travel. Since overpopulation has become an issue in the most popular sites, people are now searching for alternatives, such as unusual places in India and beyond, because vacations are meant to be relaxing, and these underappreciated locations provide that.
