On Friday, January 26, India will commemorate the 75th anniversary of Republic Day. It is the day that India became a republic in 1950 and the recently adopted Constitution went into effect. The yearly parade at New Delhi's Rajpath, now known as Kartavya Path, is one of the festivities for the day. March-pasts by Indian Armed Forces personnel and colorful tableaus exhibiting the diversity and customs of various states are featured. Republic Day celebrations take place over three days, culminating on January 29 with the Beating Retreat ceremony.
The French President, H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, will visit India as the Chief Guest for the 75th Republic Day celebrations at the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
