A government spokesman for Himachal Pradesh stated on Thursday that the government has not decided whether or not food stall entrepreneurs must display their IDs.The Congress administration led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu distanced itself from Singh's claim on Thursday, one day after the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department and Urban Development Minister claimed to have given orders requiring food stall owners to display their identity cards at eateries and stalls. As of right now, the state administration hasn't decided whether or not merchants at their stalls must display nameplates or any other type of identification. According to a state government official, "The government is committed to addressing the issues related to street vendors and will thoughtfully consider all suggestions before making a decision.
"Legislators from the Congress and BJP have been appointed to a committee headed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan to examine the policy on street vendors, according to a government official. Ministers Anirudh Singh for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Vikramaditya Singh for Public Works, and MLAs Anil Sharma, Satpal Satti, Randhir Sharma, and Harish Janartha are among the committee members. The spokeswoman stated that recommendations for the strategy have been received from a range of social groups and that all relevant information is being carefully taken into account. After considering the proposals from different parties, the committee will recommend a course of action to the state government. He went on to say that the cabinet would assess these suggestions carefully before making a final decision. The son of six-time chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Vikramaditya, told The Indian Express over the phone from Delhi that he had made his remarks as the urban development minister and not as a member of the committee on the policy for street vendors. The committee hasn't created a policy yet. However, what I stated about the owners' IDs being shown at restaurants and food stands is based on rules that the highest court and some high courts have established," he continued.
