YouTuber Felix Gerald apprehended for purportedly disseminating false information regarding the Karur stampede

Gerald, the operator of the RedPix YouTube channel, was arrested after police alleged that he had uploaded fabricated content related to the incident.On Monday, the Chennai Police filed cases against 25 individuals for allegedly sharing inflammatory content on social media regarding the Karur stampede that resulted in 41 fatalities during the campaign of actor-turned-politician Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

The individuals are anticipated to be detained in relation to the posts.The FIR did not name Vijay, the TVK chief, but it did identify three party office-bearers: Mathiyalagan (Karur district secretary), Bussy N Anand (state general secretary), and CTR Nirmal Kumar (state joint secretary). It also stated that Vijay held unauthorised roadshows before reaching Velusamypuram, where his vehicle halted in the midst of a large crowd. A police official stated that the three party leaders have been charged under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 125 (endangering life), and 223 (disobedience to order) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with section 3 of the Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1992.
