The most recent iteration of Elon Musk's AI model, Grok 3, has now been formally released by xAI. The model is being positioned as a direct rival to two of the most well-known AI models on the market right now: Google's Gemini and OpenAI's GPT-4o. Musk's social media network X (previously Twitter) is offering Grok 3 for purchase; the AI has already been included into the service.Grok-3 was created on xAI's supercomputer, Colossus, an AI training cluster located in Memphis, Tennessee, and has far more sophisticated computing capacity. With an estimated 200,000 GPUs, this facility is among the most potent AI training clusters globally. Musk asserts that Grok 3's computational resources are 10 times more than those of Grok 2, its predecessor. Because of this boost in processing capacity, xAI has been able to create a model that can handle difficult queries more accurately and with better contextual understanding and reasoning skills.
Only Premium+ (a service that recently increased its monthly charge to $40) users of the former Twitter platform can access Grok 3. Furthermore, SuperGrok, a new membership tier from xAI, will give users access to more advanced AI features than those found in the Grok 3 model. Although SuperGrok's official price has not yet been disclosed, rumors have it that it costs about $30 a month or $300 annually. It's still unclear if this service will work as a stand-alone product or if an existing X subscription is necessary.
