The government has eliminated import taxes on a number of products and raw materials needed in the production of mobile phones and EV batteries. The Center is taking action to mitigate the effects of reciprocal tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, which are scheduled to go into force on April 2. India would be exempt from import duties on 35 products required to build EV batteries and 28 items used to manufacture mobile phones, according to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
