Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Jyothi Yarraji included in Asian Indoor Athletics Championships

The 15-person Indian squad for the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, which will take place in Tehran, Iran, on February 17–19, includes long jump silver medallist Tajinderpal Singh Toor, the champion shot putter from the Asian Games, sprint hurdler Jyothi Yarraji and sprint hurdler.After the second round of the Australian Masters of Amateurs, Avani Prashanth shot the best score of the day of 5-under 68, vaulting her to second position on the leaderboard. She earned hat-tricks of birdies on both nines.At the Par-73 South Golf Club, Avani (71-68), who trailed the leader, Japan's Nika Ito (68-70), by just one stroke, is at 7-under for 36 after dropping four shots late in the first round. She made seven birdies against two bogeys.
With one round remaining, Avani, who is rated 50th in the world amateur rankings, might try to win one of the most coveted amateur titles in the area. The victor of the 2023 Queen Sirikit Cup birdied the third, fourth, and fifth holes before making birdies on the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth, putting her at 6-under par for the day. She had bogeyed the 17th hole on Day 1 but made a birdie there in between. She dropped strokes on the 13th and 18th holes.
