Shasri claimed that if he had been aware of MCG, things could have turned out differently.Had Ravichandran Ashwin known that India would be fielding two spin-bowling all-rounders in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG in Melbourne, he would not have retired in the middle of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, according to former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri.

After the third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane, Ashwin, who only participated in one Test during the series, shocked everyone by declaring his retirement.
