The purpose of ChatGPT's Study Mode is to provide extremely high-quality responses related to the Indian curriculum. On the sidelines of the OpenAI Learning Accelerator's inauguration in New Delhi on Monday, August 25, Leah Belsky, VP of Education at OpenAI, told indianexpress.com, "You will see us progress over time in how our models speak to Indian students in local languages and on local teaching."The AI platform announced a new research partnership with IIT Madras as part of the OpenAI Learning Accelerator, an initiative that is first in India. The partnership is supported by $500,000 in funding from OpenAI to carry out long-term studies on how AI can "improve learning outcomes, foster innovative teaching methods, aligned to insights from cognitive neuroscience."OpenAI, directed by Sam Altman, said on Monday that it would give 5 lakh free ChatGPT licenses for a period of six months to educators and students in India's government schools, including K–12 schools, engineering and technical colleges, and government schools from Classes 1–12. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize student education, in our opinion. AI has the potential to be a learning agent and personal instructor for life. During a media event, Leah Belsky, vice-president of Education at OpenAI, stated that AI can help teachers focus more on the essential aspects of teaching.

The OpenAI Learning Accelerator, an initiative first in India, will host the program for educators and students. Belsky stated that the company's current focus is on "access and training" and that it is not now seeking to make money from these free ChatGPT licenses. Therefore, the overarching goal is to allow a community of 500,000 users, with an emphasis on educators, to comprehend how they utilize ChatGPT and subsequently reproduce those insights. That is the main goal," she stated in response to a query posed by Business Standard. In partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Ministry of Education (MoE), and educational institutions that are members of the Association for Reinventing School Education (ARISE), ChatGPT licenses will be issued throughout India as part of the program.
